I have several pieces of information that are unhackable. That's because they are written to dvds in a non encrypted form, but the dvds themselves are stashed away where no-one can find them.
Just don't forget to take the pr0n out of the DVD player when you are done.
Agreed, I really don't understand the gripe about Best Buy. I know anything that I buy at Best Buy I can get online cheaper, but sometimes I just like to go to a store, pick up some DVD's, and browse through a few other things.
For example, I bought my last TV from Newegg, but I wanted to see it in person before I made a purchase. No one really pushed me to make a sale at Best Buy, but they still answered any questions I had even though I told them I didn't want to buy it from Best Buy.
There is a Fry's right down the street, they have a lot more computer hardware and generally a much larger selection, but I really only go there if I want to see something in person. The DVD prices are crap and all of the "tech" salespeople sport an A+ certification (which ranks somewhere between tying your shoe laces and not choking to death on your drool in the universal spectrum of skills, but knowing that you are "1337")
If my unsecured computer causes somebody to get injured or killed, I will take responsibility. OTOH, if my car starts spreading malware and spamming, you're SOL.
Vista comes with the snippet tool that lets you cut out parts of your screen that you want to save. It's only marginally more useful then ctrl+shift+print screen then pasting into mspaint, but definitely worth the $400 upgrade.
This is not so much of an issue for me now, but in the past I have had to spend days going through change management to install anything on a server, be it a hotfix, service pack, whatever.
I, for one, welcome our big honkin' file overlords.
My god, how often do you run updates?
When I tried to update one of my test boxes running RC2 it detected that SP2 was already installed. I had to uninstall the RC version for it to detect that the "official" release was needed.
I wish I had mod points right now...With god knows how many distros out there you would think it wouldn't be rocket science to come up with one that was specific to a certain brand of hardware. This is exactly what linux needs to gain market share, look at OSX.
Unfortunately, this will lead to the same conundrum, e.g. HP Linux, Dell Linux, etc.
Ultimately, I think web apps will be the only thing that can possibly make Linux a viable alternative to Windows. There is no way (in the forseeable future) anyone is going to make a solid app that "just works" across a multitude of OS's, hardware, etc. Once the OS becomes irrelevant and apps become increasingly server based on a well known and widely available protocol (http), Linux will begin to gain ground. Until then, there is absolutely no way the masses will adopt linux.
agreed, for all the hyping of "data protection" I can promise you 80% of all the sensitive data out there, ends up going out unencripted. And without using spellcheck.
Virtualization and consolidation of servers will work against this trend, though, and it's difficult to predict what will happen I predict that within 100 years, computers will be twice as powerful, 10,000 times larger, and so expensive that only the five richest kings in Europe will own them
Am I the only one that thinks that maybe because apple does not decide to make OSX available on any platform except its own hardware is contributing to the fact that it is so stable? Granted, I have not used OSX all that much, and it has its merits as an OS that is simply "easier to use", the argument that it "just works" is moot when you compare it against Windows or Linux. If Windows and Linux only had a handful of hardware options many of their problems would be gone. (And yes, I think Linux would have comparable security problems, if it were as as popular as Windows. The same thing goes for OSX, although OSX/Linux would have slightly less given that they were more secure from the beginning.)
This coupled with the fact that piracy is rampant in South Korea, and since last year Microsoft has not allowed a number of updates to copies of Windows that haven't passed WGA validation.

Umm...IE maybe?

Maddox isn't either

But...what about trucks and tubes?

My Dell laptop does it that way.
How the hell did the OP get modded insightful?
Can't people vote more than once on American Idol?
Will my viruses run on Linux too?
I wish I had mod points, that was great.
Actually, it's Geico that has the caveman commercials.
This definitely is, Slashdot. Three posts down in a comment about religion and we are already into Microsoft bashing.
Fuck Micro$oft!!!!!11!
Must be Thursday.
I have been downloading movies and TV show via Bit Torrent for years now!
