I would advice a framework as well, for one of the available languages you know. My current favorite is Spring. It's not new anymore, but I'm learning a lot about Java and building advanced web apps with much more ease then I thought possible before.

That's a strange thing over here. You can apply for a software patent and receive one by the EPO. BUT, software patents have no legal basis. The EPO (and big business) is trying to enforce software patents this way, hoping that one day a judge may find them valid. I surely hope they don't succeed. The only reason to apply for a software patent in Europe these days is that when software patents ever become legal a judge will make the already existing ones legal as well.

Well, it has happened before and it might happen now, that we find out that nature's way of doing things is not so bad for us. Nature stores it's hydrogen in all kinds of sugar. Pretty harmless and pretty efficient way of transporting hydrogen through a large system. We'll find out.

The world population would become 1 billion if what you say would become true. That is still far from extinction. Or we might be using genetical engineering to increase yield rates by 500% or more.

Sure, but that would limit the earth population to 10 billion or so, it is not going to extinct us.

Well, The absolute opposite of working in a big company is to become an independent 1 person company working in a network with people you like and understand. I am doing that for 5 years now and we as a network have grown to become a true international network of internet professionals: designers, communicators, software engineers. No bosses, no employees, you decide, you choose, you are responsible for everything you do. I LOVE IT.
