From the article you just linked: ""U.S. Religious Landscape Survey" that was issued in June, 21% of self-proclaimed atheists believe in either a personal God or an impersonal force. Ten percent of atheists pray at least weekly and 12% believe in heaven."
This alone shows that the study is screwed up. From my dictionary "Atheist - One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods." Yet the study says 21% of atheists believe in God. That study is total bullshit. Furthermore, Baylor University is a Baptist liberal arts school showing its bias from the start. So speaking in tongues isn't occult neither are magical men in the sky. Really by definition ALL christians believe in ghosts. Ever heard of the holy spirit? Go to their site they had the actually questions they used for the study. It is such a dishonest study its gross. Demons, satan, talking to god, heaven and hell aren't considered to be faults in logic while believing in traditional medicine is. Come on now... Of course atheists are more likely to have ouija boards than staunch christians, it is 'a tool of the devil' they could not have one in their home. And i doubt most people take it seriously they are just toys not magic. They tagged 'having read a book about nostradamus' as belief in the occult. Of course atheists will have a higher number, we READ more.
Re two posts up. Also if you do your own research finding ANY study on science knowledge that shows which party or religion people subscribe to it will show the same.
Info came from "Science & Engineering Indicators" sudy conducted yearly by the national science foundation AS SAID IN MY POST. Some came from Gallup & People for the AWF (American Way Foundation). Feel free to explore either study i encourage it. I rounded a couple figures by 2% i think the psychic figure was actually 58%.
Christians believing in 6000yr old earth by a landslide. Though they are also likely to believe in astrology. As for athiests that believe in astrology thats around 12% compared to the 28% average. On the other hand only slightly over half of people believe research into science is benefitial, slightly under half believe evolution should not be taught in schools 70% want creationism taught hell 46% of people don't know how long the earth takes to rotate the sun, 60% of people believe in psychics. Christians are definitely WORSE than atheists but both sides are whole-heartedly ignorant when it comes to science and reality. Also on a random side note republicans do 10~15% worse on almost every question studies by nsf asked. And girls did more poorly than guys on everything but medicine/biology.
Haha. "working brain simulator" is NOT a well defined question. Well defined questions layout the foundation for the solution. Actually the first chapter of my CS book on algorithm design goes into detail about 'identifying a specific and well defined task'. "1 + 1 ="
"Quick-Union: Implement an optimal algorithm determines the connectivity between any two given nodes and an array of connections between nodes."
"Given a black/white bitmap image of NxN size develop an algorithm to navigate between any two places without passing through any black spaces. Determine the shortest path or declare it impossible as necessary. Diagonal movement is allowed (counted as root2 steps)."
All the parts are in place. The question is not at all vague. And the more complicated alg courses allow for the answers the be found in a variety of ways. But what the solutions provide will be the same. Asking for a brain simulator is like saying make a program that makes me smile is well-defined.
global warming will take care of that harhar. Seriously i was in waterloo 2days ago and it was tshirt weather.... canadian tshirt weather mind you (we canadians believe it is summer all the time and will wear tshirts as long or longer than people in southern states in an attempt to make summer last longer)
there is snow outside? Man i got to get out mo.... waaaait *looks out window* there no snow. Theres not even snow up in frigging lakehead. And thats in moose land.
The housing crisis was caused by an bubble/overvaluation. This was caused by people buying houses for resale since they though the market was going up which eventually burst. So that was caused by people's stupidity. President Bush lowered taxes which meant that the housing burst hurt people an no system was in place to catch them. The president also spend trillions of dollars on profitless wars sinking you in to the hole. The president also borrowed said trillions of dollars lowering foreign trust/investment. China was looking like a much nicer investment.
They aren't profiting from the bailout they are keeping their head above the water. And the american people are bailing them out to try to stem off a depression and push for a market rally. If it fails which is likely you will be fucked much of the world will be fucked for a few years. They are not swimming in money like the folks at enron while they may be corrupt the bailout is not for them it is for america. And if it works the gov will profit from the bail out for billions of dollars, i'm sure you wont be complaining then when that is used to lower tax/add services. It is worrying to see america teetering of a precipice and being so ignorant of their situation they are griping about the government trying to fix it. I'm sure you will understand the reality of the situation in a year or two.
I'd prefer i didn't have to do it at work too. Though i might partly agree with you I didnt get any better at dealing with it I simply grit my teeth and push forwards the same as i did in school.
To be fair the banks arent exactly posting record profits right now. While they may have some fat a few CEOs getting BMWs will have no impact on companies like AIG with a trillion dollars worth of assets. AIG could actually buy BMW without any huge problems.
That and the bottleneck is already processing power to move mmos to the servers. MMOs pretty much work on 5KB/s at the moment. We could probably find a way to expend that extra bandwidth to make things smoother but home user internet is nowhere near bottlenecking at the moment (in games anyways). Though we could use maybe a single percent of it to stream bluray videos (54Mb/s) not that there are any providers for it now we could build a distributed p2p streaming service with home connections this fast. At the moment we have no capture or display device available to home users that could use this connection. Your new 2008 SATA harddrive can only transfer at 300MB/s MAX (likely around 120 max). And most in home lans will only support 100 or even 10! Which entirely defeats the purpose. Aside from running a server you will not be able to cap this connection within the next few years.
SMS is free in japan and most ISPs charge a flat rate with hard caps around 30Gigs a day (upload i believe). I'm sure this much faster service will have a cap around 500G upload per day. Almost no chance they will be charging by the gig.
You are right, we should be mounting laser cannons on them.

rtfa, the camera was lost not sold by the gov. MI6 shreds the drives.
More MI6 info? Suppose you could prolly get watched if you had a whole bunch of stuff about bin laden too.

Good point on giving loans to people that didnt deserve them pumping up the bubble. But look at the DJI since the bill failed to pass.
nmwhvnfhhrlfrgrn .... I think i took it one too far......
The bailout does not include golden parachutes

I could sense the sarcasm but then i look at him getting voted in the second time when the US already hated him.
"The truth is the Second World War didn't so much help America as it destroyed all of America's competitors across the world."
So you are saying it would work? Alot of the US doesn't give a shit about the rest of the world and even given that fact would welcome it.

It wouldn't give them first post that would be ping. It will just allow them to post a few trillion times an hour.
