How does this hurt them more ? The way I see it, it hurts them even less.If nobody buys the game AND nobody pirates it, this is a statement. It's a message that says :"Your DRM sucks and we won't give you our money until you remove it". Otherwise, if too many people pirates the game, it only justifies their use of DRM and may even be used as arguments by lobbyists to have new harsher laws against piracy or ask for government money.

I totally agree with you, hence the word "likely". Of course it's the people that makes the difference, the code won't debug itself on its own. What I meant is that MORE people CAN peruse the code than in a closed source environment. Because an infinite number of people can look at the code doesn't mean that it will.

Do you have any evidence for this or is it just your belief?

Of course I don't have evidence, and I suspect you knew the answer to your question before you asked it. Would you yourself spend an hour or two of your life doing research for the sake of a two line comment and furthermore for something that is as clear as 2 + 2 = 4 ? Who needs evidence anyway ! :-P

    WRONG !

I would make my own ring tone if I could! So why can't I then? Nowadays, if the tunes aren't locked with a DRM from the cell company, you just can't use them as ring tones! So you don't have a choice. If you don't pay, you don't get to have a ring tone. I'm guessing that their biggest market has to be teenagers who probably have more free time then money to spend and who would gladly make their own ring tones if they could.

Quebecor controls the news here... Suffice to say you rarely see (if ever) news that don't show them in a good light.

I remember when I was a teenager, I used to go to the movie theatre and it would cost me 4$. The popcorn and the sodas were reasonably priced and I could enjoy an hour and a half of ads-free entertainement. Those were the old days.
Now, the ticket prices have more than doubled, I have to take a second mortgage just for a small popcorn and the movies are half as good as they were. Fortunately, I now have the chance to watch 20 minutes of ads before the movie begins. Because, let's be honest, if it weren't for the ads, I would pay even more right ?
    Just my 2 cents...
