For last 9 years I've been using combination of Mac and Linux (Ubuntu Gnome). When I see people discussing these interesting features of their brand new versions of Windows... 7 then 8 and now 10, I sometimes wonder if I left Windows behind or is this really the case that Windows has left me behind.
I definitely left Microsoft behind altogether. While it has been only three years for me, the combination of CentOS Linux and my Macbook Pro has been my dynamic duo. The stability and security of UNIX-like operating systems simply cannot be beat.
In general, Microsoft's hubris is quite amazing. I know this is slightly off-topic but I am completely Microsoft-free and am able to function quite nicely. Say what you want about LibreOffice 4.4 but its come a long way and is effectively a drop-in replacement for MSO. I use a Macbook Pro and NONE of the software I actually use (save for the operating system and its components) are proprietary. LibreOffice for Productivity and Thunderbird for Email/Calendaring work just fine and don't even cost a wooden nickel. Am I one of the few out there that HATES the ribbon interface?
luxury apartments that charge higher than market rates
If they are renting them, they must not be getting higher than market rent - market rent is what something will rent for.
That just doesn't make any sense. They can charge higher than what the market will ultimately sustain because deman is so high. This is what is known as a bubble and, make no bones about it, this one will burst and make 2008 look like a small bump in the economy by comparison.
That is an appreciably difficult situation to be in. I'm currently on long term disability which gives me some subsidized housing and food. Without that, I'm facing homelessness. I still work but at a job that only pays 11.00 per hour in a township where the median income is in the 60K-70K range. The only possible way I have to get ahead is by saving for a trailer and going to an RV park. Due to the demands placed on me, I can no longer work a standard 9-5 job due to doctor's appointment, physical therapy, etc. So I'm stuck working as a Security Guard. This is ultimately, not sustainable. Something will have to give....
Insurance companies SHOULD NOT be in the business of patenting anything. All they really are is a subsidiary of the financial industry. They make and contribute nothing while taking exorbitant amounts of our money.
That even though Windows 10 is free, someone is still going to have to PAY me to install it. I bleed open source, be it BSD or Linux. Both are fantastic operating systems.
I left a career in systems engineering for truck driving. When I would apply for IT jobs I would get inundated with software engineer jobs. The infrastructure jobs aren't plentiful and it is a race to the bottom dollar. I pray these roaches never discover the critical shortage in truck driving, so far so good.
I am very happy with my LG Transpyre. It works on Verizon Wireless and I picked it up for a whole $76 at Wal-Mart. This phone seems to be super stable even though it is low budget. It actually has Corning Gorilla Glass and a quad core processor. It runs Android KitKat quite well and does everything I need it to. I've been using it now close to 6 months without any issue.
Very well said, sir! This is precisely why I stepped out of corporate America. My lifetime threshold for bullshit has been reached. The corporate life is vastly overrated,
Now this is the best piece of news I've heard all day long. This is what our elected officials are supposed to be doing for us - protecting our rights and freedoms from encroachment by the executive branch.
There isn't enough money that Uncle Sam could pay me to be the US CTO. Imagine dealing with that squeaky wheel. It's so old and poorly oiled that it's practically seized. Only the most career-masochistic people would want something like that!.
Normally I'd lawsuits like this frivolous. However, Apple purposely does not add any memory expansion capabilities in the form of an SD card slot. This is one way to force the consumer to purchase a whole new model for more memory. Note: most other smartphones have memory expansion capability.
I would very much like for this to be true. That way Sony could be caught stepping on its own dick.... yet again. They champion RIAA and MPAA and all the while do dirty shit like this. It would be about mot just.
If there is even a nugget of truth to North Korea being behind the cyber attacks, then why should we be frightened of them? Why should we let some little pygmy dictator tell us how we can lead our lives? Obviously, North Korea won because Sony capitulated.
This might be off-topic or even seen as discriminatory but I will take the chance. I'm appalled at India's Government for putting it's space program above the welfare of its people. There are many Indians living in abject poverty whilst her government fritters money away on fancy projects that ultimately do nothing at all save for showing off to the world.
It looks as if Marissa Mayer's micromanagement style might've backfired. For one, she probably killed moral for the people that enjoyed the perk of working from home. Her failure will be an ultimate win for Yahoo. Micromanagement NEVER works!
For what it's worth, IT is not what it is cracked up to be. It is one of those careers that looks better from the outside, looking in. Granted, my experience is jaded and I'm autistic so I don't function well in an office environment. Have you thought about a career driving an 18 wheel semi? The reason I ask is that many companies don't care if you're an ex-con and the money is VERY VERY good. After 13 years of being in IT, the most money I made is 75,000.00 a year and I worked 90+ hours per week plus on call time. I felt as if I was only noticed when things went wrong and I got absolutely sick and tired of dealing with people who think that computers should be perfect. Furthermore, I got sick of being penalized on performance reviews for not making improvement suggestions. Every time I made a good suggestion, the answer would be "let me look into that."
As a rookie truck driver, I'm earning 65,000 a year and my cubicle is an 80,000 lb semi with satellite radio, GPS, and a few other bells and whistles. I get quarterly fuel and safety bonuses and I can get pretty much routed wherever I want to go. Since it's cold and snowy up north, I've requested routes that take me through the desert southwest. If I could turn back time, I never would've gone to college - I would've gone straight into a tractor trailer training school. Also, contrary to popular belief, truck driving has challenging moments and there is almost rarely a dull day.:-D

Sorry, this is just bullshit!

Actually, what's the harm in living in a trailer? It's possible to at least own a dwelling ...

I read about this and I'm really glad I don't live in Australia right now. America still has SOME freedom left although it is rapidly dwindling.
Sprint is really in no position anyway to be dictating any terms to its customers. Of the top 4, it has the worst native network.
Libraries offer free internet access.

Victory for the consumer!

Arguably, they make things even less safe. I've been blinded by the camera's flash at night.

And I thought we were going to read something truly extraordinary about our feline friends. What a crock!
