As a fan of the BBC I wish all of this were true, unfortuantly its not quite. The BBC's budget is used as a politcal weapon. The Conservatives would like to reduce the BBCs size and thus influence, something they were calling for before they were in power. Personally I'd summise that if News International hadn't scored such an amazing own goal recently (as a lot of influence was coming from them) that the pressure to do so would increase. Their main problem is that like the NHS, on the whole people quite like the BBC...

Also it's woth noting the World Service I'm pretty sure is paid for by the goverment rather than from the license.

The user is prompted if they want to install it, but the box just reappears if you hit no. That would be hard to detect from which ever store it was posted to.

Obviously the fact that a downloaded wallpaper can install this 'driver' is wrong and needs to be looked at.

Anyway its the kids that set the direction, if it became cool to use G+ so all the kids switched, as they get older G+ will become dominant as everyone and their piers (and their celebrities) are on it and it would bubble up to the 20-25 year olds in 5 years time. So us oldies aren't important really, yeah we prop up the numbers now but aren't the future. So Twitter should be wary of alienating the 15year olds as they do so at their peril.

Frankly its about time the credit card companies \ bank sorted themselves out. What we need is a number that can be given out but links to one merchant only. So if these numbers are retrieved by a third party damage is limited as they can only be used on the original site, and it would be trivial to revoke them when the intrusion was discovered. Unlike right now as when you discover someone might have your cc information, you have to cancel the card, wait for the new one to be issued and re-enter the new information into all the other sites.

The same goes for bank details. When we need to transfer cash electronically from one person to another, why not give us 'deposit only' details to give out?

I know the banking sector moves at a snails pace on things like this, but seriously, how hard can it be?
