i can overclock my e6300 to 2.8ghz and that bumps my fsb us to 1600mhz (unless we're going to start disbelieving cpu-z?); what's so special about this?
if you're really concerned about private companies making money off of your pc... why not join up to seti? i think that is probably going to be the biggest and potentially most controversial discovery of human history up until then, possibly ever.
i don't know about you, but i'm proud to say that i'm part of a top-ten junior college team that i set up with a few friends. (except that seti@home seems to have changed the junior college teams list to include all teams...).
groening is not pronounced correctly anywhere that i've heard people saying it... unless the root of his name is a language other than german. i'm not sure how to explain exactly how the ö in german is pronounced, but i can definitely say that it is not spoken like "ee" (as one of the children suggests) or "oo". it's more like "er" without the "r" sound. you are welcome to doubt me, but i'm warning you that i have taken a course specifically on german pronunciation (entirely in german, if that makes it seem more formidable)
when cpu-z reports my e6300 running at a clock speed of 2.33ghz and fsb of 1333mhz?
i think that intel is just trying to get their core 2 chips into as many hands as they can so that amd has the same kind of barrier in front of them that they did several years ago... except that this time, intel has a good product
is anyone familiar with the history of the german-speaking world? do you know what helped to unite germany into a country and is going to do the opposite to the us? language. luther's bible helped to spread a standard among those who spoke the language; without this, there would have remained so many "tribes" speaking so many different dialects that no organization could have been achieved.
if this country continues to allow people to come in speaking whatever language they want... it's just going to slowly dissolve the country into something that can't communicate with itself.
i remember taking the tests for my health insurance license, and there were several questions that had no correct answer, or the correct answer wasn't consistent with material i had studied.
much like: Which is most right? 2+2= a) 3 b) 3.4 c) 9 d) 4.1
no answer is correct, but one has to choose the closest thing... but perhaps it's the closest without going over? etc... so many ways to interpret some of the questions.
so... computers with cd-recording abilities? million-dollar machines? how computer literate is this goof-ball?
i periodically receive catalogs for high-quality recording and dj equipment (not musician's friend, another place that i can't recall right now), and from them, one can order a device to copy (and label) discs at rates of 15+/hr. these things only cost a couple hundred... so where does this character get a 7 digit figure?
and when a user clicks the "opt-out" button/link... it opts them IN to how many other lists? it's easier to ignore the emails (which often results in them ending) or tag them as spam.
how about joining netflix at the highest level and then ordering every film you might like? certainly makes for great rainy days when you've got nothing better to do. personally, i've downloaded most of the outer limits and am starting on quantum leap (never got to see all of a lot of episodes) so that i have stuff to watch when i'm just loafing around. going through all that effort just to stream porn to your television is a horrible waste when you can just watch that on your pc... use the television and surround sound system for things that are worthwhile
unless you're reverse engineering microsoft products!
i just sent an email to guitartabs.com telling them i support them and only wish i could do more to help this cause than write essays and hope they get published in something widely distributed
would it make sense to use different drivers for the top o'the line gpus? instead of putting together a massive pile of mush that everyone "needs", perhaps just make up new sets of drivers for each new card that comes out; thus, these drivers can be specialized and optimized on a per card basis. unfinished drivers would mean unfinished card - problem solved.
i guess this may take away the "poor drivers" back door, eh?
my overclocked e6300 shows a fsb of 1333 in cpu-z with ddr2-667 that has been stable for almost 9 months, why do i need ddr3? if ddr2 can do these speeds, why should i upgrade? looks like a bunch of hype; i'll wait for tom's hardware to show some comparisons against overclocked, currently available stuff.
doesn't this seem to be an awful lot like the discussion about the use of a red cross on a white background from a while back? perhaps like aspirin? these things have been in the public mind for so long that people will continue to think of them as the same mental impression, regardless of an "official" change.
besides, isn't this almost like trying to trick the open source community into saying that there are some things about an open source product that can't be modified freely?
i bought dragon naturally speaking way back when my 100mhz pentium was still in the running. once i went through the "training" (reading several paragraphs out loud for the software to figure out speech patterns), i found it to be very good at figuring out what i said. eventually, i stopped using it because of the difficulty created by the environment and forgetting to "begin/end dictation" properly, as well as several other problems that could be overcome with some practice. for the generic user, this is a great idea, especially if they need to "type" many pages of text in simpler language. the real problems start to show up when trying to use lots of complex words. suffice to say, this is not software that an english, philosophy, poli-sci, chemistry, etc major should hope to use without lots of frustration.
what will happen to places like wikipedia? what about http://www.ilovephilosophy.com/ ? places where everything is fair game: interpretations, new ideas, rehashings, you name it. if "publishing" to the internet your ideas about how a song is played is made a serious crime, how long will it be before other forms of information and knowledge exchange are quashed?
one should be able to drive any car, regardless of it containing gasoline
do you see the silliness of that argument? a telephone line must be (payed for) connected before any signal will be acknowledged. your life insurance should pay out, even if you haven't payed the premium. why? the insurance comapany owes you nothing unless you uphold your end of the agreement (i know, there are some restrictions and "exceptions") no signal, no transmission, no 911.
personally, i hate cellular phones. i hate dropped calls, voicemail that takes 45 seconds to leave a message (not counting the rings and actually leaving the message), ringing everywhere, babbling nonsense everywhere, people playing with their ring-tones in restaurants and at obscene volumes, people who think they're important because they have a cellular phone... do you want me to go on? i think the cellular phone is one of the worst consumer items ever and wouldn't have one except that i delivered pizza for several years (if you've done it, you understand). the other benefit is that i have many hours of free long-distance in a college town, NO ONE asks for a local number when they move here
problem solution = cellular phone; problem cause = cellular phone >:-(
that being said, i have a landline and will not get rid of it until cellular phones develop better volume control, connections, range/signal, etc. and landlines become overpriced.
this occurred at the school or another university? what, exactly, distinguishes a "fake" or a "real" threat? in my book, with situations like this, nothing - this WAS an attack. they should be punished accordingly.
what makes it ok to hold a loaded gun to someone's head with apparent intention to shoot and then simply saying "just kidding!"? nothing, it is not ok. what separates the danger posed by a cobra without venom sacs and a "complete" cobra? it doesn't matter what the real conditions are, if the general perception is danger, the situation is dangerous. if i see someone running at me with a knife and i have a loaded gun, odds are really good that i'll shoot first and as questions later. when someone makes me decide, under duress, between two lives, i'll choose mine.
if someone had died (teacher or student), i think this would be viewed as an attack, a poorly staged and planned one, but a real threat and punishments would be doled out.
"Think of the children!" has never been more appropriate
are you refering to the same united states that i know? the place where everyone walks around looking at the ground because they're too ashamed/afraid to possibly look others (who, coincidentally, are looking down) in the face? the people are too scared to stand up to their borderline tyrannical government? the place where people are sick of all the lies and want out, but won't leave because they don't know any other languages and can't afford to move internationally?
much as i despise the xxaa, i think this could be potentially debilitating to the acceptance of court ruling in the us. as we are all aware, a subpoena is a court order for evidence or witness appearance. subpoena will be "translated" into "court order/ruling" for the masses and joe public is likely to hear/read this and think "hey, harvard is telling me to ignore court orders!"
can anyone else see how bad this could be? IANAL, but i think the best way to fix this situation might be a higher court ruling against the motions of the lower court in favor of them being unfounded or inaccurate... something to explain that the ruling came from evidence that couldn't hold water
i hope this light-rail would be used for intra-city travel; anything that affects the turn-pike would obviously be anti-thetical and should be reconsidered.
i wonder how little resistance these turbines will have? surely, something that is incredibly light would have no measurable impact on the wind?
how about some integrated memory control?
i don't know about you, but i'm proud to say that i'm part of a top-ten junior college team that i set up with a few friends. (except that seti@home seems to have changed the junior college teams list to include all teams...).
the mandate that "over the air" television will be gone in another year or so? then what will the complaint be?

1) build miniature hawk-10 with household items
2) get free aol cd's
3) convert aol cd's into raw materials
4) solve world energy problems
5) profit!
we're saved! screw middle-east oil!
on a less serious note... just imagine what could be done to a pickle with one of those!
i think that intel is just trying to get their core 2 chips into as many hands as they can so that amd has the same kind of barrier in front of them that they did several years ago... except that this time, intel has a good product
can you say, "gift tax"? iirc, one person may give $11k before the taxing starts

because it didn't work for the bush family
