    You seem to imply that abandoning space exploration for a few decades would be a bad thing.

    But consider that the funds could be used better elsewhere: nanotech research, artificial intelligence, molecular engineering, de novo genomics, neuroscience including brain/machine interfacing, cold fusion, particle physics and antigrav...

    Come to think of it, I'd say fuck Mars.

    Really? Long time ago, my university used to have a strict policy about electronic transmission of things like student grades or research data...

    So I wonder why these days any American Uni would want their intellecual property transmitted over google.cn routers?

    You are just paranoid. Precious tools like spies, nukes, or torture are only used when the National Security or large sums of money are involved.

    And since Israel is not stupid enough to give up a valuable asset for a simple libel investigation, it's was really up to Google to spill the beans on the guy.

    Most likely this testing will be very lax, just enough to appease FCC.

    You can even have Amazon convert them to its special format for free, email the doc back to you... Like it's so damn hard for them to release a generic txt or pdf reader, right?

    What's with these companies and "special" lockins? Why do they crave control over items they sell so much?

    Probably not the very old equipment. But yes, you can replace the old PSU with the newer high efficiency one for around $70. You can also buy a larger heatsink for fanless operation.

    Because the way it reads right now, you pass of as an angry, bitter, impotent man who is abusive, shallow, abrazive, and a sore loser.

    You are comparing apples to oranges (or hair color to bust size)

    Democracy is a political system, communism is an economic system.

    It is perfectly possible for the two to coexist, just like it's possible for a country (e.g. China) to be both a brutal dictatorship (politically) and a free market capitalist economy (economically) at the same time.

    Because our government gets a lot of their tax revenue from copyrighted works. Even more importantly, foreign trade depends heavily on enforcable copyrights, patents, and such. The government gets a fat tax kickback any time the copyright/IP things get sold at a profit, which includes all sorts of things from movies and media, books, AIDS drugs, computers and consumer electronics, CD-RWs, F-16 warplanes and other weapons, even.

    No government is going to give up such a revenue stream since you can see that for them, copyrights indeed mean tax dollars.
