Make money from PERFORMING, not trying to make a profit from every mind your work touches
Some will argue that radio and digital files are just free publicity for the performance. Which it can be. But many artists release their work from the sale of the album, or from royalties from the radio station. If that money dries up, then many artists won't release their work. So now the only way to hear them is to hear them perform. It will be a pretty quiet world.
And what about when the end product IS the recording and not the performance? I don't really want to watch an author write the book. And while I actually enjoy watching them film a movie, I would rather see the end product. What then?
I HATE the fact that people feel they are entitled to the end product for free, just because it is digital. They don't realize that the end product probably won't exist without that copyright, that they loathe so much.
"we look at 1300 songs to discover some answers... It was hard because the data wasn't good. We entered the data ourselves."
And that is it???? That is your entire summary? What about like maybe telling us what the article is actually about like what were some of the answers they discovered?
Aren't you effectively telling your customers... Try our site in ALL available browsers to see which one gives you the largest discount? Today they are charging for IE7, tomorrow for Opera and the day after that for Firefox?
The other answer to the lily pad question could also be "1 day", depending on which half of the lake you were looking at.
How do you get "1 day" in any way shape or form? The question wasn't when is half the lake empty... It was if it takes 48 days to cover the entire lake, how long does it take to cover half of it... If it takes 1 day to cover half... What the hell is it doing the other 47 days?
You are getting neck pain from side to side head motion? Perhaps you need to do some oversizes and build the muscles in your neck? You are more likely to get neck pain from an up down motion, but from side to side?
My Sony Vaio, with a 14 inch screen has a "normal" sized keyboard. It doesn't have a numerical keyboard, or the keys between the numerical keyboard and the alpha keyboard. But if I measure the alpha portion of my desktop keyboard, its 11 inches. My laptop keyboard is 12 inches. The extra inch is for the Home, page up/down keys. The function keys are slightly shorter, but otherwise this keyboard is as good as my desktop one. And this is with my 14inch monitor
Perhaps you need to search harder.
Huh? I don't understand your point. What is "meta-trap"? What is it that we have now and what did we "used to have?" And what does pets.com have to do with the original Bill of Rights (not the digital "bill of rights but the one found in the Constitution)
What chilling pall is over everything?
What forces of evil?
Nothing, absolutely freaking nothing. And if Iran tried to extradite the person with force, USA would retaliate. The USA does not have any extradition treaties with Iran. So the US would ignore any such requests.
What does this have to do with a walled garden, or with software patents. You have the same problem with regular patents. If I design a doodad that makes it easier for someone to do something, and then someone else makes a knockoff and charges half what I charge... I'll take them to court and get them shut down. That can result in the same article being written "Littly suzy can no longer do x, because Walmart decides to stop selling knock off doodad due to patent infringment lawsuit"
Kids have a difficult time with languages. So it is probably impossible for her to learn more than one.
You ask why limit her? I ask you, why limit her to using a device?
A counterfeit game would be a game that looked very similar to Angry Birds, but wasn't angry Birds. The game play would be similar, and the artwork similar and so on. It is NOT a game that plays like Angry Birds but is different. Kind of like how zynga's Dream Heights is not a counterfeit Tiny Tower.
which gets you back to discussion on the broken patent system. Another reason why we say it is broken is because it artificially inflates market prices and prevents the decimation of technology that was previously only available to the richest few.
Are you saying it artificially inflates prices because the inventor has a short term monopoly?
And are you saying, screw the inventor, let anyone and everyone sell the product, because obviously it is better for civilization as a whole? Except when inventors realize they can't feed themselves so they stop inventing?
So let me get this straight... You want a company that relies on the existence of patents, to be disobey a patent law? I don't ever see that happening.
What does this girls ability or inability to speak have to do with the patent infringement? If the app was infringing on the patent, and the app is no longer allowed to be sold, of course people won't be able to purchase it.
You can sue somebody for laying out a set of facts and then expressing their opinion about those facts, but that doesn't mean you're justified or that you'll win.
FTFY.
Not that I think it's right to sue someone for telling the truth, merely pointing out that it is possible.
Sure you can sue somebody who tells the truth. But you are in danger of having a frivolous lawsuit. Which has dire consequences.
These are NOT hi res displays.
I've got a 21 inch monitor that is 1600x1200 next to a 30 inch that does 260x1600. But these aren't high resolutions. Things are a tad smaller, but not retina like. I don't need to squint. I can read slashdot just fine. And youtube isn't one inch, even the small version.
Can you give me a legitimate reason why any intelligent, law-abiding person would constantly wear a baseball cap with the price tag or other stickers still on it solely to make it look like it was stolen?
, and even Microsoft (though they tend to only contribute patches with an obvious benefit to their own business interests) come to mind, and there are many others
Isn't that true for MOST companies that contribute to open source?
Bah... Just takes a couple of muscle cars and a big chain.

Its simple... back when it was only one lily... cut one lily every day.
The other answer to the lily pad question could also be "1 day", depending on which half of the lake you were looking at.

Friendly computers are immune to a patent dispute causing previously-installed software to stop working, yes.
While this is strictly true, a lot of new software automatically updates itself. And there is no reason an update couldn't uninstall the software.

Back in my day, we had a thing called... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Disobedience_(Thoreau)

Sugary drinks have some of the highest mark up... Something on the order of 900% So explain to me how they are artificially low?

The key reason why we don't have high resolution PC displays, is partially because the current Operating Systems, are not configured to use them.
Are you implying Windows is not a current OS? Windows does support high DPI.
Can you give me a legitimate reason why any intelligent, law-abiding person would constantly wear a baseball cap with the price tag or other stickers still on it solely to make it look like it was stolen?
Maybe you should ask Minnie Pearl?
You can't fine someone for having marijuana unless you know they have it. One way to find out is to stop and frisk them.
It doesn't work that way. You can't stop someone and frisk them, unless you have reasonable suspicion. What they wear isn't enough.
What sort of license do you want or expect?
I would assume when you purchase the software you have the right to run the software.
