In law enforcement, they came to the conclusion long ago that the answer is no . Besides all the other qualifications for a police officer, they can't have a criminal record.
Actually, law enforcement officers can have a minor criminal record of sometype, depending on state. California will allow applicants for officers who may have committed minor crimes like vandalism or trying marijuana, etc... but the applicants are told to stay clean for four of five years and then reapply.
statutory rape is something that police departments must take seriously. I had a friend who was a police cadet and she was eighteen. She got in "trouble" for a boyfriend who was seventeen.
microwaves are interesting and stuff but why don't we just use nuclear bombs for propellant. After all the first man-made object that went into space was that giant manhold cover that the US was using in 1955 for underground nuclear weapons testing

better yet teach them what science is: asking questions and getting more questions. like who is Daystorm? Well he is a fictional but very important part of an imaginary universe. What is an imaginary universe? It is a place where there are vulcans. What are vulcans? Vulcans are people with pointy ears and green blood. Why is their blood green? becuase instead of iron which makes our blood red, they have copper. (Somewhere along the line the child should have looked for a bat to hit you with since you introduced him to star trek, inadvertanly.)
What the video/computer game industry needs is something like comic con that is geared toward the gamers and fans and everyone else who was going to E3 but wasn't actually there for the original reasons of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which was more for companies and journalists than the fan base that was growing up around it.
How cool would it be if the companies could all get together and set up something like a mega-arcade that operated on a semi-permanent nature where new games and companies could use it for publicity, etc...
the reason the kids probably got dumped into the cells are because the police probably had no other secure location in the police station. When they rebuilt the police station in my city they included a small windowed room that could be locked from the outside more or less for this purpose.
In California a 1987 law prohibits the detention of teenagers in the same jails as adults Children can be put in a jail cell if they have committed a violent crime/some felonies; murder, rape, assault with a deadly weapon.
If the cherry tree was actually owned by someone then the police would be justified for detaining the children until their legal guardians could be contacted.
we went the other way, there was more money there, actually it was this little guy with a pitchfork but...nevermind anyway its not like movie's have a choice a lot of the time had a teacher who had a friend (etc...) who did the proofreading for scripts. heard a story where they argued to change the apple pie to some other pie just so that another writer could get credits for "writing"
on the other hand, good old regular tv has some good stuff, sci-fi channel: sg-1, sg-atlantis, battlestar galatica... eureka and who wants to be a superhero don't look to bad either. tv shows have to be good becuase they are generally dependent on repeat performance and get more chances before they get canceled. movies are one shot, once its out the door its like waving goodbye to a blind bird.
you have to have one of those in your house or at least a holographic Robert Picardo that way when your life sized t-rex maimed somebody the EMH could sedate them that way the trespassers/victim couldn't sue...what you do with the sedated body i have no idea
This is a really bad advertising ploy and a source of future labor for anyone who signs up. It is an interesting idea though, it would have worked better if they just created a seperate deparment/company to accomplish roughly the same goal, kind of what disney did with miramax. They could have just set up the site with all walmart advertisments. or just go buy the advertisments on myspace...or myspace itself. Corporate takeovers on the internet...
On the other hand, it could be worse. They could have called the users: "Associates" & the site: "The Wall"
I know its alreay too late for the space shuttle, but i wonder how much it would have cost them just to modernize all of the shuttle parts. Or at least make all the tubing and pipes out of duct tape.
If they sell the space shuttles in fifty years or so anybody want to try?
the only reason diamond's aren't cheap is because the diamond companies are hording them to keep the prices up. Otherwise they'll push themselves into bankruptcy
