a PC is by definition a Personal Computer. In common usage it's often used erraneously to specifically talk about IBM compatibles, but that's hardly the definition of the term.
It isn't in any way erroneous if it's - as you said - common usage. Usage defines definition.
Next attack attempt: regular old martial arts
Response: Seats eliminated; all passengers shall be assigned a sealed 3' x 3' x 8' pen and will be locked in for duration of flight.
Woah... my own personal sealed space where I don't have to sit next to the 500lb ape who has never heard of deoderant, and I don't have to listen to some jackass's brat screaming the whole way there?
I find it somewhat telling that every post here that doesn't conform to the reactionary, sensationalist point-of-view has been modded down as low as it can possibly go, while everyone who is just parroting the anti-administration, ACLU-esque jargon is "Insightful".
I'm having trouble hearing any meaningful discussion over the sounds of the mods' grinding axes...
As a college student in dorm housing, I can say that me and the people who live in my hall can't get enough of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals or Four Swords. It turns out that a couple people already had GBAs and the ones who didn't went out and got some (you can get the older, non-SP kind for about $20 used). Those two games quickly replaced Halo as the game of choice unless there's a whole slew of people wanting to play something.
That being said, though, I can see how finding people to play with you would be a big impediment in just about anyplace other than a college dorm.
I don't even know his WoW username, so I can't even email Blizzard to give me access (which I doubt they will do)
I don't know about that. He is a minor; I would be surprised if he was actually allowed to 'own' whatever parts of the account he actually would own according to the EULA and TOS (I'm not sure about that, either, but I know it's that part of it that gold farmers, et al. abuse to make what they do 'legal'). If a legal guardian actually stepped in and said "This is my kid, I don't want him doing this. Give me his information." I don't know that they could legally say no.
DISCLAIMER: IANAL
The mass media would have labeled Mother Theresa a terrorist if they thought it would drive up ratings. Saying that the media lables so-and-so an insurgent and not so-and-so proves nothing. I am not defending either side of anything here, nor was I from the beginning. I was simply responding to the GP's post stating that the several comments above his had some kind of subliminal agenda going, to which I said that I thought that might be a bit harsh and unfounded.
I was making a point on the personal level. No matter how insane the government or the media gets with their witch-hunts and political maneuvering and mud-slinging, it pays to keep your own head level and your own sanity and paranoia in check. In times like these, it's pretty easy to point fingers and look for scapegoats. But just because someone with authority does it doesn't mean it's right, nor does it mean you should think what they do just because they think it.
How about this for bias: He's doing it because he has an arab-sounding name, therefore he's a hezbollah or lebanese sympathiser, which is what I see between the lines in some of the posts.
That's taking it a little far, I think. Like you said, he was probably just trying to make a buck. As someone who is a freelancer myself (though not a photographer), anything one can do to make themselves stand out from the competition is a boon. And when your money's running thin and clients aren't so forthcoming as they were... Well, people do stupid things.
I think you're being more than a little paranoid with what you think you 'see between the lines'. Not everybody has some kind of insidius agenda, whether they be freelance photographers or/. posters.
Arthur C. Clarke wrote a book about this concept, only he had some crazy idea of controlling wormholes that appear in the quantam foam (Or maybe not so crazy, IANAQuantam Physicist). I forget what the name of the book was, but it was a pretty interesting read.
Technically, I would say it was being eaten by a giant sandpitwormthing. Which was a direct result of his out of control jetpack. Didn't Luke shoot him with a turret or something? I havn't seen ROTJ in years:P
Most people don't use *nix, so yes, getting them to a point where that command actually does anything besides echo("Bad command or file name") is a bit much:P
This is even more of a non-story than is usually posted on these boards. Everybody on a 'watch-list' is innocent, as they havn't yet been proven guilty in a court of law (keep your snyde comments to yourselves).
What "baddies"? I am talking about an official CD that came from your ISP, not a free AOL frisbey from the junk mail, or some guy in a back alley. What spammer is going to start handing out CDs on the side of the road, and who would actually take them, much less take the time to run them, if they did?
Unless you're implying some rogue ISP handing out villianious CDs in an effort to ruin people's computers or something.
It wouldn't cost anything, as it is complimentary.
Anyway, users, as you said, aren't too bright. Just put the firewall setup and de-rootkitter (and whatever else) into a CD labled "Setup" and the user will pop that right in. Hell, if you're feeling really audacious, put instructions on how to open your CD-ROM and insert the CD and then close it again, and what button to push on the Autorun in your setup pamphlet.
There is a disturbing and disapointing precident being set here by the rulings in this case and by the attitudes the ESRB has taken toward it. It's furthered by the fact that another game after GTA:SA has had its rating upped based on something that was never in the game: Oblivion. What this spells for the modding community at large - and even designers who might otherwise release modding tools for their games - is yet to be seen, but I don't think it bodes well for them. Then again, you don't have to look very far in Battle.net to see a crapload of shitty Warcraft III and Starcraft porn maps, and nobody's done anything about them.
Breakfast Club didn't come out that log ago.
Of course, the fact that I think that probably means I'm an old geezer
You're confusing grammar with definition, and being an ass besides.
It isn't in any way erroneous if it's - as you said - common usage. Usage defines definition.
I have never met a druggie who was screwing up only his own life.
What does that have to do with my point? The GP was whining about something that wasn't even true, and I corrected him.
Parents with babies are allowed to bring bottles.
I hope for your sake you're being sarcastic and not taking what some wikipedia article said at face-value.
Woah... my own personal sealed space where I don't have to sit next to the 500lb ape who has never heard of deoderant, and I don't have to listen to some jackass's brat screaming the whole way there?
Count me in!

It is when you aren't really concerned about privacy violations, but would like something to whine about on

I guess that explains why Israel has been blowing up buildings. If there aren't any tall buildings to swing from, he becomes a much lesser threat!

That sounded like something out of Mr. Wizard until you mentioned calc

So give me some data on this completely broken model, because I'm not seeing it.
Don't be silly. Valid data and proof of his claims would ruin his whole argument.
So you're saying that because politicians are corrupt, corporations who take advantage of that to further their own profits are solely at fault.
I'd hate to live in a world where that wasn't utter garbage.
