AFAIK, there are two reasons why these patches aren't in default kernel. First, I understand that decreases latency at the price of slightly decreasing throughput. The second is that though the patch is small, its effects can be complex and nobody's too sure it doesn't have any bad side effects (crash, oops,...), especially on SMP systems.
Isn't that true for alot of other optional services/packages/modules offered by the kernel?
Well, here are some of the things I use my laptop for:
1. Code perl while riding a train to downtown Portland.
2. Debug C++ apps in the coffee shop.
3. Read Slashdot while taking a dump (Thanks to 802.11 wireless networking).
I have noticed that I am more productive when I change the enviroment I work in, regularly.
Okay okay, calm down. No dont go sending them dog shit. Just a polite note saying that you do not approve of the way they are handling this. I know I know there is a company that will mail them dog shit for a small amount of money, but dont do it. Its just mean.

So MS Windows did not infringe on the X Windows trademark because Windows is a generic word.
How the fuck does KIllustrator infringe on the Illustrator trademark?
Somebody setup a Paypal account. Because I want to donate a $100 to this guy's legal defense fund. And Adobe can kiss my ass. My department would not be buying anymore Adobe products. They are trying hard to make enemies with a large development community.

Legitimacy Of ICANN?

I am not sure why anybody modded you up. ICANN has a monoply on the DNS system. Their members are extending their terms as they please. Making deals with Network Solutions (the evil of evils)as they please.
They are spitting in our faces and you're saying lets not do anything cuase it can get worse? I am not you're not the leader of any team I am following.
For starters ICANN can make the whole process a little more democratic. That ought to make things alot worse?
Who the hell told you that those people are my neighbours' wives? I swear I checked and neighbours' wives aren't there. And if they were I wouldn't be coveting them for sure.
And what proof do you have that Bible is God's word?
And while we are at it, what proof do you have that there is a God?
The idea looks promising, but at 5.5lbs its too heavy to lug around. I have 4 Thinkpad, all are much lighter than this thing and they have bigger screens, bigger hard drives, keyboards etc.
I want to use the ethernet to swap video files with friends. Using a PPP connection over a serial line is an easier way of doing this? Are you out of your friggin mind?
On my mandrake 7.1 laptop M16 crashed right away. Netscape 4.73 works alot better (I am not entirely happy with that one either). Mozilla has a long long way to go before it becomes usable at all.
I dont know about others, but I have on numerous occasions wanted to record something in my car that was being aired. I hated the fact that none of the car stereos have a record butto, so that I could throw in a tape and record.
A Tivo like functionality would be kick-ass! I have a Tivo at home and I almost never watch regular TV anymore. A Tivo like radio in the car would make me soooooo giddy.
I already have bought a Tivo and love it. So take that "I wont buy it until it has X" argument and shove it.
All I am saying is that it would be nice to have ethernet. Tivo does not have expose it to every user but there are shit loads of geeky users who wouldn't run away screaming when they see an ethernet card and would absolutely love to use it.
This would help convice alot of buyers on which device they want, the Tivo or the Replay.
I was sitting at a friend's place last night and was watching a movie on TV. We had planned to leave around 10pm to go somewhere and the movie had not finished yet, but I had to leave. And then I thought to myself. What if my Tivo box had ethernet access. I could have telnetted to it from friend's place and told it to record the current program on a specific channel. Killer application for me. Ofcourse I also want to be able to telnet or connect via web to my Tivo box from work also, browse the selection of programs and tell it to record some stuff if I want. Damnit!:)
Since this is a Linux box, providing this functionality should not be a problem. Right ?
I also want to be able to log in and email somebody a program I recorded (preferrably in an mpeg format). I have a T-1 (DSL) connection at home and that should be enough bandwidth to email videos to family who have similar types of Internet bandwidth. Is Tivo planning on doing this?
Also another capability would be add some kind of a wireless keyboard interface. So that I can browse the web right from my comfy couch instead of having to get up and go to my computer.
I want all these features and I dont think I am asking too much!
I have recently acquired a Tivo. The folks at Tivo could easily upgrade the Tivo box a little and have akick-ass console that plays movies it recorded for you from TV (It does that real well).

Can you somehow connect an external device through the LPT port and boot from it? Also is there any way to hook up a PCMCIA card to this device? I have a wireless PCMCIA ethernet (11mbps Lucent) card that works great under Linux.
Being a Pakistani I was a bit offended by someone putting Pakistan in the same league as Ethiopia. But I will put that aside.
Pakistanis have had Internet access for many many years. There are dozens and dozens of ISPs in every major city. Unlike the US and some other countries the govt. has not tried to control the Internet. There are no laws for Internet censorship.
Situation is far from perfect but it is better than some of the developed countries.
Encryption is outlawed in Pakistan. But almost everybody uses software that has some sort of encryption built-in and I have never heard of a case where govt. tried to crack on use of encryption. The encryption law is very old and is mostly the result of a hostile neighbour India.
ncftp updates.redhat.com/pub/updates/6.1/RPMS/ > bin > get *rpm > bye rpm -Uvh *rpm
Now really how hard is that? This "enterprise" crap is making me sick. These enterprises are hiring people who have peanuts for brains? They would much rather go to Microsoft's website, find the latest patch, download it, sit through the update, reboot the computer AND do the update and reboot process again after they install a new application (This is recommended by most all NT service patches). How many steps is that?
Anybody who can use ftp will tell you that it will take less time and effort to update the Linux machine. Now the "ENTERPRISE" IT guys, they just have a small problem.
They have never heard of ftp.
But they are perfectly capable of maintaining the company mainframe. A a whole lot of them work at Ebay and ZDnet also.
Did anybody read the front page Wall Street Journal story on Jeff Papows. Basically the story said that he is a fraud. He lied through all of his professional life to get where he is today.
Lies about his military experience and education and much much more.
Did anybody else read it? I wish I could find a copy of it. Wait a sec. I'll search Google. Well here is one :

Does he look like a used card salesman or what?
This is not nearly as detailed as the WSJ article. And remember he is also the same who laughed his ass off when asked if there would be a port of Lotus Notes for Linux. And guess what, now he is a fan of everything Linux.
This guy is a con artist and will say just about everything to make people around him happy to gain favors from them.

Adobe has however managed to piss me off royally. They will get a pissy letter from me. I will be sending one in tonight!
You Adobe fuckers! You are going to hear from me alright. Hey what was the name of the comany that mails dog shit to the address you give them?

I can easily beat that. How about an 18 wheeler fully loaded with DVDs? :)

I wonder if it supports ethernet? Alot of us have DSL connections at home and wireless networks that we would like this to fit in.
On my mandrake 7.1 laptop M16 crashed right away. Netscape 4.73 works alot better (I am not entirely happy with that one either). Mozilla has a long long way to go before it becomes usable at all.

I haven't looked at Pine's specs but why is it $80 more than MamboX? See http://www.sparco.com/cgi-bin/wfind2?spn=MAMBO-X

OR

You also might want to check the Preview button if

You almost make me wonder if the Swan people were
right about it all being your fault.
