Yeah, I agree. With your average "lay" PC user's impending transition to what I assume could be called "next-gen" operating systems, having to learn an all new operating system like Vista or Mac OS X shouldn't be that much different from using Ubuntu. At my university, I hear kids spouting the virtues of Mac OS X and how it "doesn't get viruses" and I believe that same line of thought could point them in the direction of Linux. Especially when you can explain to them how all of this free kick-ass software gets included; OpenOffice (IMO way better than Office 2007), GAIM, Firefox; and with the quickly maturing desktop environment, I think that a company like Dell having Linux pre-installed would definitely make widespread adoption more feasible. The only reason I don't run Linux on my desktop is for gaming, and if I could get my old HP notebook working worth a damn, I'd use it for taking notes in class and use Linux. (HDD appears to be shot so OS installation is a bitch, and battery life maxes out at like half an hour, but running Ubuntu from the CD makes it a fully operational computer, even sound, and FreeSpire, while lacking support for my proprietary onboard soundcard, recognizes my Linksys wireless card right out of the box.)
Well, I usually enjoy swearing, nudity and sex, and violence I tend to play out more in my periods of Gears of War domination. But what's funny about this group's solution to all of this violence they keep seeing on television is to ruin it for everybody. My solution is to TURN THE GODDAMN TV OFF AND READ A BOOK OR SOMETHING. I haven't seen any of the television shows in question. The idiot box has this group so addicted to watching TV they can't even pry their eyes away from offensive violence. What a bunch of retards.
Could this kind of energy saving patch be deployed to all Windows users via a Microsoft Update? It sure would be one non-security related update that I wouldn't mind having Genuine [dis]Advantage installed on my box for or forced on all Windows users.
Well, while I've heard something along the lines of the Dalai Lama saying that if Bhuddism is proved wrong by science then Bhuddism needs to change, I (as an athiest) am strongly against fundamentalism in the United States which, unfortunately (for the religion itself) tends to come from Christianity (being reared as a Christian, it was ultimately the faith itself that drove me toward athiesm). But very much so, Christianity tends to reside in the margins of science because it has been used by its leaders against any secular (scientific) resource in the United States.
But Perhaps this was just part of a trade-off between liberals and conservatives. Today IS the day that the Plan B "Morning After Pill" contraceptive was approved for over-the-counter sale in the United States. If Paris Hilton can get her own album and the young people today will listen to it and buy it, I've kind of given up on the future of America and as long as I can fuck my girlfriend and not get her pregnant, I'm happy. Unfortunately, the conservatives are the ones that need to be practicing contraception and abortion for the most benefit to society.
Thank you. Being here in Louisiana is tough. Our politicians rob us and are incompetent, at that. I'm well traveled and well read. I've been around the world and been in agreement with many of my European counter-parts. New Orleans enjoys much of an international flair and spirit and is truly different from any other American city, and it's tough to convice even the most "patriotic" of Americans that what happened in New Orleans should never happen again. Even some Americans are distant and ignorant of the effects of Katrina, the media suffers from "Katrina fatigue" and no one pays attention to us, but loves coming down for a good time during Voodoo, Jazz Fest, or Mardi Gras. The post which you were replying to does maintain a similar mindset to the chest-thumping rednecks which he purports to hate so adamantly (many of which are also in Louisiana). The world, the US, and even New Orleans are much too complex to make such sweepingly general negative statements about, as is much of the rest of the world. We still need help down here. LSU held off school and turned our basketball court into a first-stop triage for severely injured patients from New Orleans. Where I saw my Final Four achieving basketball team practice and play games, was then a make-shift emergency hospital, the memories of which still have not left me. I've volunteered many hours and resources to help other human beings. My best friends (especially those in Chalmette) have lost everything in their posession to that goddamn hurricane. While some foreign cock-sucker bitches about American's flawed (yet still human) foreign policy with his priviledged access to the Internet.
Well, my high school's school district's IT dept. had been keeping an eye on the frivilous web sites being visited upon by students (such as myself, at the time, many years ago) and had blocked many torrents sites (we were big into downloading eps of Curb Your Enthusiasm in Computer Class since the teacher required many days off as he was typically having to fix stupid computer problems on teachers computers) but I consistently visited/. and eventually the site was blocked. It was a very remedial technique as all I had to do was resolve the IP to/. outside of IE (which was the only browser the schools used until I had suggested Firefox) and type the IP into the browser. The school board was also having budget problems associated with a new computer lab that had donated computers from a local business until I suggested using OpenOffice (which the writing lab for English classes now uses for all machines).
Shouldn't we change the Microsoft symbol next to all related articles? I mean, seriously... Gates no longer works for Microsoft and manages his own charity foundation. What else does this guy have to do to wash the blood from his hands?
(Ironically, my confirmation script image for this post is "unfair")
My deeply scaring PC gaming experience was the old game Blood, where you were raised from the dead and spend the levels in (already creepy enough) funeral homes and crematoriums. Never really understood why that FPS wasn't has popular as some of the other ones of the time. Kicking heads of your dead enemies around in '97 definitely seems much more disturbing than GTA nowadays.

I swear to god I thought this was some kind of adult video spin-off like "Booble." Note to self, start spyware-free porno streaming web site.
I've got dibs on your stereo.
