In fact CATIA the most powerful design software in my opinion (although not the most popular due to cost) produced by Dassault Systems is a Mac program natively. A few years ago they hired IBM to make it Windows compatible so it would be a more viable competitor about the same time that they purchased Solidworks. Autodesk AutoCAD however is stuck on Windows as it relies on the .NET libraries and wont even work on WINE and it is the most recognized design software with its .dwg and .dxf file formats. As far as Unigraphics and other softwares are concerned i dont know about their compatibilities.

  4. No this isnt even close on Is Virtual Rape a Crime? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Lets ask a real rape victim what they think... see if they think that something virtual compares remotely with a real attack. Otherwise there are rules in place regarding disrespectful and inappropriate behavior, they are called the TOS. Also how exactly can an avatar virtually force action of another avatar without their consent? Also i think anyone who cannot seperate a virtual attack (that does not include a threat against their physical person) needs to re-evaluate whether they should be participating in these online communities. After all i kill a few hundred people every month in Battlefield 2142 and have never even been arraigned on murder or attempted murder or harassment.

actually we were attacked in 2001 unless you live in the UK then well i guess you win. Anyway road taxes also pay for streetlights which deter muggers and since you havent been mugged recently then im assuming you are benefiting. The idea of the police isnt to arrest you but to protect you so the same goes for the previous comment. I really dont know about the fire department but if there were a forest fire they put out you could say they saved your house.

  7. What i THINK they should and shouldnt tax on When Tax Day Comes to Azeroth · · Score: 1

Taxes apply to real world currency. So they can tax the software purchase (at the store) and the subscription fees (since they are real $$) but there would never be taxes applied to in game transactions unless real world currency is connected (like the Gold-Farming and Power-leveling services). If a user happens to sell an account that would be taxed to but the question is whether violating the TOS by using one of these services (For WoW its a violation of the TOS to use a bot, Powerleveling service, or sell accounts) would become punishable in a real court as its a "secret" transaction. That would create a whole new virtual black market.

i just bought a new Dell E510 and it looks great. Microsoft obviously cant see that some computers on the market (Dell, Alienware) already look good and changing them would be stupid. Also they cant see that their cases arent the parts that sell systems. Who is Microsoft hoping to attract with "pretty" cases anyway? Interior decorators?

dude the ACLU should get on this. This completely limits the freedom of anyone under the age of 18 that does not own a computer at home. Also it allows for the gov't controlled access points (schools and libraries) to track usage of adults, yes they do this already but theres enough of it in place. Almost all the sites i visit in a day including Yahoo and Google can fit into this description. The claim is so broad that its ridiculous. had to rant, sry
