I think the Mandriva wizards for Samba and Active Directory integration are better than Novell's. However, the end result is the same - they both work and the both use Samba, Winbind and PAM.
Cool, the global warming propaganda is working. A new nuclear plant can be built and there are no staged demonstrators with silly halloween costumes out in the woods.
Hmm, over my career my income has see-sawed but presently it is OK again. The low point was a few years ago after the bubble burst, when I made less than my starting salary 20 odd years ago. However one thing is sure - if I knew how unstable this business would be, I would have studied something else and I convinced my son to study medicine. Screw all this high technology crap, it just doesn't make financial sense.
Well, pushing rope is known to be a problem, while smoking rope is an acient passtime. When they finally did manage to talk to the satellite, it said: "Hey, dude...".
Well, you could have left Linux on the machine and added VMware with WinXP inside of that. That should work just fin and dandy and there'll be no problems with drivers.
Note that even GNU GCC uses a garbage collector. There is nothing wrong with using a machine to handle memory management and with C++ it is the only reliable way.
If 90% of all cars were made by GM and other manufacturers were squeezed out by telling parts suppliers that if they supply one single nut or o-ring to Toyota then they will lose their contract with GM, then we may have needed some unbundling in the car market. However, the car market is reasonably free, so your straw man argument fails.
No, it won't affect Apple. They are not a convicted monopolist. They are free to do as they please within the normal constraints of the law. It is MS' flouting of the law and predatory behaviour that got them into trouble.
It is not necessarily illegal to have a monopoly. However, it is illegal to exploit the monopolistic position in certain ways, to the detriment of the free market. MS has been found guilty of various transgressions and has paid out billions of dollars in fines and settlements. MS became a monopoly by illegal coercive means and maintains its position through the same illegal coercive means. That is the problem.
Hmm, the most cost effective solution is probably to get 2 to 4 phone lines and bond the modems together. With 4 lines you could get all of 64kbps. Not a helluvalot but likely better than a cell-phone link.

With a staged hack I can launch an ICBM...
Hmm, there must be something in the water in Boston that causes the people to go nuts - maybe it is tea leaves...
Well, that is the whole problem - the *real* hackers don't get caught, it is only the bozos that get caught.

Linux runs nicely on machines with thousands of cores: http://www.top500.org/
but yes, that would be totally wasted on Vista.
Nano iPod works fine on Linux. It doesn't require iTunes at all: http://www.aeronetworks.ca/ipod-howto.html
Hmm, maybe SCO would still have been in business if Darl had that DVD...

I have been subscribed for many years. Storms in the kernel mailing list teacup are rather common.

A V8 is nice, but without a Hemi, I'll have to pass on this rig...
Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of disks... :)

...it is pitch black...you are in danger of being eaten by a grue...
Sure XP is just as shitty as ever, but compared to Vista, XP is not just good, it is 'venerable'...
Hmm, there has been ISO burning tools in the free Microsoft Resource Kit Tools package for many years http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9D467A69-57FF-4AE7-96EE-B18C4790CFFD&displaylang=en
It would be interesting to see how MS count this. Have they now doubled their sales and halved the price?
Looks like a mine shaft to me. Gold? Naquata? Latinum? Coal? Oil?
Well, the reason being that its hard to laugh in between all the security pop-ups. It breaks the rhythm.
