    Shoddy construction caused it to sink. Optical illusions may have hampered the rescue efforts, but it was dark - the other ship could not approach in the dark. There was no RADAR or night vision systems in those days.

    Fedora has every DE. You can install it any which way you want. The missus and I are both happy users of Fedora 16 with XFCE with encrypted disks and she had absolutely no problems moving from Windows Vista.

    No, in the 1980s, desktop computers took about 1 second to boot up: Click, beep! and you are going. However, modems were horribly slow. France and a few other countries had Minitel terminals that worked remarkably well. The fact that it flopped in the US of A, doesn't mean it flopped everywhere.

    Awesome. However, Iceland compares with only *one* of the 6000 islands in Greece. There are probably more homeless vagrants in Athens than the total population of Iceland. It is really a quite inconsequential little rock.

    It sounds great when expressed in percentages. Iceland has almost no people and no industry. With a total population of about 300,000, the whole country compares poorly with a small town on the Canadian prairies and is too small for a single coal powered power station.

    Same in America. The car parts come from the same places. Lots of Ford, Chev and Chrysler parts are interchangeable as a result. So the current perception that Ford quality is somehow better than Chrysler, just doesn't make sense and my own anecdotal experience over about 6 American made cars bears it out - they are all the same.
