720p is a valid HD mode and many people would argue better than 1080i. I wish they had dropped interlaced video modes for HD and went with 1080p30 instead of 1080i60.

I read somewhere for MGS they were considering some options for the controller, like sneak up behind an enemy and twist the controller quickly to snap his neck. That could be cool!
I'd just like to add that the text input used in the console version of BG&E with the analog controler was brilliant! I wish the console makers would pick it up as a default entry method. Much much better than poking around an on-screen keyboard.
Actually, the HD-DVD group recently announced that they're planning to introduce a third layer next year, around the same time that it's expected we'll be regularly seeing 50Gb BluRay discs, so capacity isn't really a big comparison factor.
Do HD-DVD players support an arbitrary number of layers? I would expect they
can't just add layers and expect players to handle them but I don't know the
specs.
I'm not a sports fan either but the super bowl looked fantastic in HD. It was a very noticable difference and the wider view also had an impact. The olympics looked great too. Yes, I can see how sports fans would love HD.
This is about my only complaint with GIMP. Why not add tools for line, circle and squre in the toolbox where people can find them? At least for circle and square. Shift-paintbrush isn't too bad for a line but Stroke Selection??? GIMP is great and I use it for everything but this seems like a big omission.

Do blu-ray and hd-dvd players come with hdmi cables? Serious question. All the dvd players i've seen came with basic composite cables.
