Yea, I've got to agree with this. It's like a really jazzed up AOL Messanger. Or I guess you could say it's somewhat addicting like MySpace. They're just places to get together with a large community of people and have fun. Simple as that. I don't think there's anything deeper in an MMORPG game. It is the community that makes up what is inside. It doesn't matter what game it is. As long as it is an online game and people can chat, the game will have a different feeling. Personally, I play games like Counterstrike. And I don't play it just because I like to play the game, I play it because I enjoy the people that play the game with me :)

"...promote an atmosphere where people do not want to attack us..." I see... So what about the kid that gets beaten by their parents in the US? Or what about the people that go crazy and just want to kill in general? It's not just "terrorists" that we look for. It's the Airplane Security that we're worried about. And we could find a way to stop deadly weapons on airplanes. (unless the employees and the security was corrupt). And maybe they'll find some high-tech airplane scanner that will scan the whole plane for weapons in the far future.

Well I guess if you are in charge of what is shown in the news, there are A LOT of subjects that you could cover. To say that 9/11 is getting too much coverage isn't bad. There are probably plenty of other things that kill people. I'll have to agree with ya JavaLord. But it is also important to cover all other issues. I guess when it comes down to it, you can't cover it all (in a 30 minute or hour long news program). There's still the day-to-day news that people need for their lives (like the weather). And showing nothing but bad news all the time isn't exactly heartwarming.

I think that both Nationalism and Patriotism is needed. It is good to love your country. It is not good to think you're superior because of your country. Well, thinking that your country is superior to another isn't exactly bad... It can also show a feeling of pride for your country. Kinda like two football teams that go at it. You're not supposed to say that they are better than you (even if they really are). That kinda lowers morale of the players. And at the end of the game, everyone's friends again.

Who really defines what is too much gambling? Personally, I belive that it all comes down to the willpower of the person. If someone is obsessed with poker, that doesn't mean they're addicted. Some of the world's best poker players are probably "addicted" to poker or gambling. And the same thing goes for professional game players.

I'm no expert at addictions, but I believe that people can stop if they tried hard enough. I believe that if a person does something like playing games a lot, then games will eventually be part of their life. If the person wanted to stop playing games, it would be hard to because they are attached to it. It would be something like to stop loving someone that you've loved your whole life. It's something that you just can't do. It's possible... But extremely difficult.

Call me ignorant, but I don't believe in the whole "brain chemistry" change.

I'm sorry, but I would just like to say that the American Government is NOT corrupt. Quite a few people that I know say that America's government IS corrupt. One of my friends calls me ignorant for thinking that the government isn't corrupt. But I would just like to say that if I am ignorant for thinking the American government is corrupt, then you're all lazy. If you think the American Government is corrupt, get off your lazy ass and do something about it. (i.e. Patriot Act)

Personally, if I thought the government was corrupt, I'd do something about it or just leave the damn country.

  8. Re:just another reason... on Adware Spreads Through Myspace · · Score: 1

I agree with this. It is very wise to know what to click and what not to click when determining if there is spyware included. But there is one problem with that. There are too many young age kids and people with not a lot of computer knowledge on myspace. The companies that send spyware through videos should clearly state that they are doing it. Not only in the User Agreement, but also in the general advertisement of the company (or whatever they advertise)

  9. Re:Is that a rhetorical question? on Adware Spreads Through Myspace · · Score: 1

The police throw drug abusers into prison because they break the law. Simple as that. If someone continues to break a law multiple times, I wouldn't want them on the street (whether they take drugs or they murder people.) There are things as mistimeners, and unless they repeatedly break the law, they will not be put in prison. Although, the drug rehab centers that we have to keep people off the street needs some improvements. But these posts are a little off topic. The main problem is the advertising that they have been sending through myspace. Now even though I support advertising (even though they are annoying), something like this is a little overboard. I personally think that the User Agreements that companies send out should be a little more clear. I've never fully understood them, but all I really need to know is the general idea of what companies are doing. And I think that is the most important thing of all. User Agreements have gotten so bad, that I rarely read them anymore. (I only read them if I think spyware or information exchanges with third parties are involved or something seems suspicious.)

I know... what a joke... an 'identify theft addict'. What, is stealing someone's identity this year's new black/bipolar? It's not a fucking mental illness.

That is true. But if you could get easy money fast and free with little effort, wouldn't you think about taking it for at least a split second? It sounds to me, stealing other people's money through credit theft is a lot easier than robbing a bank or mugging someone. Sharma even said it himself in the article that 'it all became too easy too fast'.

(Excuse my video game reference) But it is kind of like getting hacks for a video game. Once you get them, it becomes too easy, and you can't stop because you're enjoying yourself. The only difference is that Sharma got a thrill out of what he did.
