  1. Timothy Zahn on Sci-Fi Books For Pre-Teens? · · Score: 1

My favorite author (even now at age 24) is still Timothy Zahn. His writing is incredibly good, science based (in a science fiction setting), and extremely clean to boot. I'd recommend his writing for anyone above age 10. He's probably most noted for his Star Wars Thrawn trilogy, but he's written bunches of other books.

Wait a minute...Wasn't the war over in 1945? Why is there a 1946 WWII airplane, or am I missing something?

  3. Would VOIP phones be viable? on Boosting Cell Phone Signals in Strange Places? · · Score: 1

Someone above mentioned WiFi phones. I know of various wireless VOIP phones (i.e. from Skype) that could use a normal AP to broadcast. It'd save on minutes/ phone plans too. I'm not sure about the price range/ number of users you have, but it might be a viable option. My previous school was once an USAF base as well as fallout shelter, so I felt the pain of having little to no service. I often used Skype on my Pocket PC to dial out via our campus wireless. Hope this helps!

  5. Re:Don't allow it... on Skype Addresses Visibility Concerns · · Score: 1

Unfortunately, Skype doesn't even need to be installed with admin privledges to run fully. I installed Skype on my home PC and then copied all files onto my flash drive, although any removable media would work. It ran wonderfully at school, and it even kept my contacts. Windows XP firewall blocked the prgm, but a simple Run command of services.msc allowed any user to disable the XP SP2 firewall.
