To me, DVD only looks bad if you watch it in HD first:)
I watched Lethal Weapon 1 and 2 (I encoded it to 720p) and could very well notice the difference compared to 3 and 4 from DVD. (Funny thing that the older ones looked better)
And that is 720p being converted to an analog signal as I wait for the new alsa patch to be officially release so i can use the HDMI out for my nvidia 220GT on my 37 in TV. (I live in an apartment. Anything bigger than this would be like sitting in the front from of a movie theater - which I hate.)
nor could you work on anything non-trivial if you can substitute the minimalist notepad that is the Google Apps word processor for MS Word.
I love comments like this.
You made me look at google docs probably for the first time in years. I see options for multiple formats, tables, headers, footers, sytles, comments, images, links, equations, bookmarks, spell check, table of contents, etc...
I open notepad and see options for font and word-wrap. Does your notepad offer you more options in XP? Because this is what google docs offers me in xp.
I can open two (or more) excel documents they reuse the same window. There is not tab implentaion for seprate files so it is difficult for me to switch from one excel spreadsheet to another via the mouse.
One of the things that annoy me is that you are unable to un-thread a conversation.
I try to label my purchases by type but my newegg purchases all are threaded together so I have to go through multiple emails to find what I am looking for.
This also comes up when someone emails me and uses and existing thread rather than starting a new one.
I go like the interface, but it has some wierd restrcitions.
Forcing this ballot screen on them was nothing but tyrannical socialist interventionism to make government bureaucrats look good and nothing more!
I might agree with this if they were required to force another browser to be installed. In this case, they are letting people opt-in to IE, firefox, or opera. They are not forcing anyone to pick a browser.
If you are coming from XP to Windows 7 and never upgraded your IE, opera (and even to a lesser exent firefox) would probably look more familair thane ie 8
You do know those sales droids don't actually listen to anything you say up to the point where you're expected to say "Of course I would like to order the service upgrade from you, right now, for twice of what I'm currently paying" so that they can get their nice little bonus, don't you?
You do know that most of the "droids" do not get a bonus, don't you? They get to keep their jobs if they have a certain sucess percentage for sales. (I am not saying that you should buy anything from them - I don't. But most of the phone jobs are people trying to make a paycheck, not people trying to make bonuses.)
I had a 4 out of 5 rating on my anual review (which was also the highest in my department since they revamped the scores to push everyone down to a 3.) I received a $350.00 bonus for this. This was a once a year bonus. It was also the highest bonus paid in our team and one of the highest paid in our department.
I did a search for Christian and religion and no thread that bashed either had been modded "to oblivion."
Here is a good example since the article is a little more "aged." http://apple.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=10/02/27/1924221 The posts with the word religion in it that were negative or mocking were all at least in the postives and most +4 and up (the only exepection being one post that compared the AIG to a religion.)
I see CNN stories about how FOX news mispelled something one day or put the title "congresswoman" instead of "congresman" in front of a republican's name.
CNN needs to get over not being first anymore and focus on the news.
In Texas, if your residence has been declared a homestead, it cannot be taken to pay a debt except for debts taken for the purchase of the home (ie, a mortgage in default), for home improvements, for home equity loans or to pay certain taxes. Wages may be garnished only to pay debts related to court-ordered child support, back taxes, and defaulted student loans. Debt collectors cannot garnish wages for repayment of consumer debt.

That's what you think.
Unfortunately most people won't find this insightful.
Because it's not.
Of course that is what introspekt.i thinks. That is why he wrote it.
phantomfive did not offer any new or insightful discussion to this tread.
being a geek and not a spy I don't tend to fare well under torture!
You'll never know until you try :)

It's also a security hole so big you can drive a truck through it, so one could reasonably argue that this is a bad idea....
Do you believe that most desktops are more secure?
Is there anyway to have two excel windows open?

google doesn't force you to join or limit your options if you don't.

They had to offer training to the managers at my job for Office 2007. The managers then handed out a how-to document to everyone else.
Most people I work with just assume that whatever option they used to use went away and leave it at that.
The funny thing is that they would all bitch and whine if we switched to openoffice and they could not find an option.
I have the same experience. In fact, I am able to disable my adblock extension since most of the annoying add use javascrip to display.
The only real excecptions being my bank and newssites that have comments plus a few forums.
Most of the people I know at rackspace that work on the linux side(which is a pretty big employeer in San Antonio) run Ubuntu and OpenSuse at work.
Do MS licenses come with free support at the same level as red hat support?

The staue of limitations kicks end after the crime is completed.
If it is ongoing, then it would kick in when over.
IANAL but I have watched Law and Order. The sound wasn't on but I think I got the gist of it.
Thank you mods for proving my point.
Note that the off-topic troll post I responded to has not been modded off-topic.
I have mod points and really want to modd you as troll or off-topic since the post you replied to had nothing to do with a) Religion b) America.
But you are incorrect. Bashing religion (and America) is usually considered politically correct by the "open minded" slashdot community.
Heck, just look at the X-box "Gender Expression" posts

People do not like to admit to having personal choices anymore. We prefer to decide that everything is pre-ordained based on our genitics.
It is easier than actually dealing with issues of right and wrong and involves much less soul searching.
Incidentally, I would quite like to know how this AC went about implementing this.
He'll be back. He has to wait an hour before being able to log in again.
But could grandma do that?
*just kidding
I only trust products from the Umbrella Corporation
Wow.
It took more than 10 threads to get to the "I have no proof but think the US would be worse"
thread.
People were showing some real restraint, today.
