Sadly in the current "patent" climate, everyone have to obtain as many patents as they possibly can, bogus and all, simply to have enough of a patent portfolio to scare off competitors who might try and quench competition, as we see... well all of them do at the moment.
The best thing that could happen would be an immediate stop for new patents, and a permanent stop and revocation of all "software" patents.
But because it'll be the best thing to happen, it never will.
Of all the "new" things they add to the browsers, this is the one thing that would make all but the most annoying advertisers happy.
Another pair of must have features would be "Pause all scripts on background tabs" with sub options for types such as JavaScript, Flash, Audio and Video, and "throttle priority for background tabs" to limit the impact of for instance Javascript while you open a number of pages. These tabs have plenty of time to load while you read the others.
when the press release would have done quite nicely.
That is the problem with climate "journalism", the truth is not enough, it has to be tweaked by an agenda, just a little. Then the next "Journalist" picks up the story, and tweaks it a little more. In the end it's picked up by a Murdoch paper in an illegal phone tab, and once it hits Fox news, it's a whole new story. No one bothers to go back and check the sources any more.
It is sad that truth have to take a back seat to sensationalism. If the truth is even allowed in at all.
Why would they spend time and money on developing new ideas that may or may not be a bust, when they have old ideas that are more or less ensured to be a blockbuster?

Mod parent up please, this is far more interesting...
The real addicts is the media industry. They have managed to get the good stuff when they persuaded the authorities to do their dirty work for them, and now they just can't stop till they get the next "fix"
It is quite fun to see these old predictions to see where they were right or more often, where they were wrong.
We just have to remember that our own present day predictions about the world 50 years from now are likely to be as precise as these old 50's and 60's predictions.
And what have you done to the Sony we love to hate?
Is it just me or are the tune Sony is playing by changing, and from the looks of it to the better, towards that of the old Sony...from before they started screwing over their customers at every chance they could get?
It is not about how may invites we have. it's unlimited. The Question is, how may will G+ let in today. And from what I can tell, the quota is filled for the next week:)
If you have an invite, all you can do is check it a few times a day.
Not quite.
While the currency IS virtual, people are still spending a LOT of time playing in order to earn this kind of money.
That said, kudos to the people pulling it off. It fits well within the game.
Well, there must be a limit on the number of mindless drones even the hooligans can drench out of their sewers...
...the life out of inventiveness.

Maybe because there's not too many of them around anymore. Or maybe they were just completely assimilated
