Of course it is, it's a SCREEN READER. It only has to interface with the seedy belly of whatever windowing system it happens to be on. And Mac OS X and Linux do it completely differently.
At my school, used books were 10% off full price, which was usually about %15 more than "half price texts" or whatever online. But the buy back price was 8-10% of full price. So at the end of the semester you'd get $25 for $300 worth of books that you bought.
So I never sold them back, what's $25 in the face of $300? Not worth it.

Yes, new "GSM" phones (phones that use SIM cards) use W-CDMA. That doesn't mean they use "CDMA", even if they use that modulation. Can Verizon use an iPhone? They use the same frequencies. Oh, they can't? Oh, it must not be "CDMA" then.
It is common to refer to phones that us SIM cards as "GSM" phones, because they work on networks that are GSM. And it is common to refer to phones that use no SIM cards as "CDMA", because they work on networks that are CDMA. So you're still an idiot, you may be right, but you're still an idiot.
It happened when Apple moved to OS X, but the user base was much smaller so the complaints were less.
I'm sorry, this is just not the case, Apple did a REALLY good job with the classic environment in Mac OS X and most of these complaints were known, but it was OK, because everybody could see how much better Mac OS X was than classic.
1.) Old antivirus programs weren't a big deal because there weren't any. Microsoft has an interface that notifies XP when an antiVirus is being installed, it might be possible to prevent an antivirus from being installed by claiming there's one installed already. Or maybe, MS just doesn't care because it's a VM anyhow, and they just have a new copy somewhere else on the computer.
2.) This was a big problem with printers in the OS X switch over. Epson in particular lost a lot of repeat customers because they refused to update some of their USB printers to support Mac OS X. One solution, was to install the printer driver in Classic and print only from there. But anything you wanted to print from Mac OS X had to be compatible with the old program.
3.) 3D games? I'm sorry, they just worked. Really. No Joke. They were slightly slower, maybe 2-3 FPS slower, but nothing major. It was great, I could play all my old games without having to reboot into the classic environment. A few games I had were upgraded to be able to be played on OS X, and those games got a huge speed boost when they did. On OS 9, they'd get somewhere in the 30FPS range, then 27-28 when played on classic, then, when they were upgraded, they got somewhere in the 35-40FPS range.
The other thing that probably makes my memories a lot rosier is that OS 9 was so outdated and crashy by the time OS X came out, we were very glad to switch to something that didn't crash.
I was hired the same way for my internship. I stated in my resume I was good with linux, lots of programming languages and was looking for an internship. I also said I had some windows experience, but it wasn't my strong point.
I honestly think I was given the time of day because when I showed up to the interview, I hadn't shaved, I hadn't worn nice clothes. (Well, they weren't cruddy either) And I gave off the air of being interested in what they were doing.
It's weird, it's like if you show up, talking the right way, and dressed to not care, you get far. I don't understand it.
Not to mention the processor in the Palm device is faster and probably consumes more energy...
Um, no. The OMAP CPU is MUCH more energy effient then the ARM9 cpu, look at the difference between the Core and the Pentium 4. Plus the iPhone has TWO, one for the phone modem and one for the applications! (Arguably the Palm I'm sure also has two CPUs.)
Look at the beagle board, it runs a OMAP 3530, has USB, Ethernet, HDMI (with audio), runs at 600MHz, and can display full motion video on a HD display using 11% of the CPU. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_OHe-JfTyk
Oh, and it does all of this while drawing 2 Watts. I'd say that's pretty impressive, also considering the 3530 is the energy hog of the family. Palm is using the 3430, which is pin and software compatable with the 3530. And more effient.
While the iPod shuffle is not a particularly powerful device, it does allow the user to use a well supported device that most probably is not going anywhere soon. The iPod shuffle in my mind would be very useful if what you wanted was just music.
However, If was blind, I might not want an MP3 player because I rely so heavily on my sense of hearing to get around. If I encased myself into my own musical world, I might miss something I need to hear.
This does NOT mean Ron Paul is out. Rather, it means that there's nothing more to do until he either gets the nomination or doesn't. He's running a very tight ship, and there's no reason to keep a large election staff around if there isn't anything to be done.
Ron Paul still has a good chance to be the nominee. I hope that he'll run next time and he'll get even more support.
This can all be solved by a little device called HDFury. It sits between your display and your DRM enabled device and converts from nasty DRM laden, to beautiful, DRM free signals. Completely digitally. (Unless you get the VGA model)
My friend got one for his PS3. Works great, he uses his PS3 with a CRT monitor, full 1080p BluRay with no issues. Pretty wicked little device.
Hummm. Seems if you look here and click the link to goto here you can search for "eee" and get the page for the eee PC, 2GB or 4GB. Then you do a/source (in firefox) and find the Source Download page.
Seems to me that source is provided, plus, it was released on the release day too. Unless this source isn't the source they are looking for.....
I was homeschooled, and my math skills are also not the best. Probably because it just doesn't seem like there was anything USEFUL that I could do with the Math I was learning.
But I will say this about saxon math; It was the only math circitulum that I Cried over. Yes, that's right. I bawled my eyes out because I didn't understand it. Saxon Math is the most terrible math that I have ever used. I started using a ciriculum called "Making Math Meaningful" it was so much better then Saxon. IT actually MADE SENSE! I actually learned math.
If you are trying to self teach, don't use Saxon math. It is designed for a teacher to assign homework out of. Nothing more. It is a terrible way to learn math on your own. Maybe I'm a little bias, but I know what I experienced, and it was horrifing.
I suppose an '86 is quite old, but the fact remains is that new VW have just about the same layout as mine. The Current Jettas and Golfs (Rabbits now) have very good accessibility when trying to get at the water pump. Plus most of the other things that are standard replacement items. As far as non-carburetor cars go, my first VW, (An '86 Jetta) was completely mechanically controlled fuel injection. As is my Diesel. The Diesel engines in VWs were without computers until the second generation TDI (Currently starting the 4th generation being released next year) VW may be an odd company in the car field, but the fact is is that their cars are actually almost pleasant to work on. Perhaps the other car manufacturers are just worse at designing engine compartments to make them easy to access?
As far as crank pulleys go, the VW crank pulley has 4 allen key bolts that attach the pulley to the crankshaft. There is a hex head on the crankshaft so you may use a breaker bar against the control arm to hold the crank in place while you tighten the crank bolts. Really it seems that most of the car is thought out in this way and there is very little in the car that seems especially hard to get to. Perhaps that is why I love VWs so much?
Anyhow, I guess what my point is, is that you should probably look into other cars that don't do so much to keep normal people from working on these things. Because in the end a mechanic is just another normal person that just happens to work on cars for a living. (though some may be crooks.)
A "VERY" old car? How old is "VERY" old? I have an '86 VW Golf and I've done the water pump in that car. Honestly, I feel as if I could do the water pump in under 2 hours (if everything comes apart the way it should, you know, rusty car). Basically what your saying is hogwash.
Also, the water pump is on the same belt as the AC, and you only need to take off the water pump pully, not the crank pully like you claim. Plus taking off the crank pully does not require you to imobilize the moter, it just requires that you have another lever to hold the crank while you tighten it to get it to spec.
The longest time is probably waiting for the coolant to drain after you crack the water pump from the case. Really it's not nearly as bad as you claim for a VW. Plus, this hasn't changed for all the MK platforms. the engine is still mounted in the same place, and the waterpump is still just as easy to access. So I say again.

In both universities I attended, textbooks were sold at market prices.
What constitutes "market price"? Is it the price of the book printed on the book? Or is it what the book is going for "off the street". I can tell you that both of the schools I went to charged the same price as the price on the cover of the book. I don't see how that is market price when I can go online and get the same thing, new even, for $100 cheaper.
I could enter text at least twice as fast as anyone I knew who had a WinCE device. Has that changed?
Yes, it has. Palm One was sued and had to drop Graffiti 1.0, and it was replaced by Jot, or Graffiti 2.1. Which IMHO is the worst hand writing recognition software ever made. Yes it works. Sometimes. Over all I find Text and Number entry into my Palm T|X tedious at best, and at worst completely frustrating.
I really used to love the old Handsprings, and I had one for a year and half (Handspring Prism) it was an amazing device. The T|X I thought would be a great replacement, and while the hardware is now finally on the same level. The Software just is a complete mess. I really wish that I could install Graffiti 1 on my Palm OS 5 device....
They should have simply got rid of the magic naming system in favor of something explicit, such as a Shell Extension Interface that a shell extension must fully implement.
So you mean they should have rewritten a core OS API after it had already been gold mastered? Yes, it was a stupid design to begin with, but that doesn't mean that it's possible to rewrite something like that. This is exactly the reason that Vista is having problems with compatibility. Because core API's were rewritten.
If Apple could design a laptop mouse that looked like a one-button mouse but could act like a two button mouse (detect which side you press it) that would be genius. Or maybe allow replacing the button somehow. Also give me a Thinkpad-style trackpoint option, I found those far superior to any touchpad.
Apple does have two buttons, if you want to rightclick you just put two fingers on the track pad and click normally. As far as the trackpoint goes, I like it for small screens, but when you start getting into larger ones it get's to be interesting. Not that I don't like it, I'm just not very good at it.
Amazon still codes their pages so they come up "fast" on a 28.8 modem. Ebay is the same.
Right. So the reason that ebay comes up in 3-6 seconds on my 1.5Mb DSL connection is why? I'm sorry but I HATED ebay when I had dialup (less then 7 months ago) because it would take 20 seconds or more before i could view ANYTHING, not just all the pictures and stuff.
Ebay is by far the WORST site for load times of a "major" site on dialup.
I'm starting to suspect hoax, unless someone besides the article submitter can come up with evidence that it happened.
