It serves a single purpose, and that is for those who live off of these buzz words to sit here, cock in one hand, keyboard in the other, arguing over who knows most while all people involved wank off.
Sorry, as much as you'd like to believe, knowing THIS much about technology really doesn't mean shit in the long run. Just think about that when they're lowering your casket into the ground.
I love elitists because they die just as easily as any other creature.
More delayed technology that the average consumer couldn't care less about.
Mind you, I said AVERAGE COMSUMER. That means, all the kids with game consoles, all the middleaged people that have GeekSquad do everything for them.
I guess that's the point where you become thankful that this got posted on a geek news website. Yet, somehow, I still don't care:\
They didn't specify what you're plugging in.... Give it a rest would'ya? You still have a power cable and a couple video/audio cables to plugin. I'm sure if they were as retarded as you think they are, they would have specified "Comes with Wi-Fi, so all you must do is plug in the network cable and you're ready to play!" That's not what they said though...
The US Military owns and maintains the GPS system at a cost of ~#400 MILLION/year, while it's free for industry and civilians to use. So exscuse me if your complaints fall on unsympathetic ears. For all I care, they can do what they will with thier own equipment. If it was such a big deal, I'm sure some other company would launch their own system of sats so provide a charged GPS-type service.
So, like the other person that was looking for just another exscuse to cry about Americans, go grab your GPS and go for a hike to blow off some steam or something, cause you need it.
Lets see. The American Military actually owns the GPS sats... and as for the other ones, how do you think they got up there? I mean, you don't exactly see a lot of stuff going up from other countries, at least not for American companies.
Quote from Wikipedia on 'GPS'
"United States Department of Defense developed the system, officially named NAVSTAR GPS (Navigation Signal Timing and Ranging GPS), and launched the first experimental satellite 1978. The satellite constellation is managed by the 50th Space Wing at Schriever Air Force Base. Although the cost of maintaining the system is approximately US$400 million per year, including the replacement of ageing satellites, GPS is available for free use in civilian applications as a public good."
So, you're basically crying over losing something that was placed there for you, free to you, when in reality they never had to let you use the GPS or put the radio sats up in the first place. Gratitude much? Or is it you're just looking for any reason to be all upset at the U.S.?
I sense it's the latter of the 2. Either way, go take your GPS and take a hike, looks like you need to burn off some steam.
You think that, until you pull up to a stop light next to some pudgy, pattern-balding man who's driving his mid-life crisis. When was the last time you saw one of them smiling as they pull away from that light?
There is a reason for escapism, and Jocks started it. Want proof, look at Al Bundy.
Nerds on the other hand, seem to keep to themselves (asside from the occasional Trek Convention or something).
But I will say this, ask any woman (NOT YOURS OR A FRIEND OF YOURS) and they will tell you exactly what thier mom told them to look for in a man. Muscle gets you know-where (based on odds), where as a brain and a relatively normal body can get you the world....
Bill Gates, anyone?
Half the problem for jocks is, to stay a "jock" you have to live the lifestyle. Your kids barely know you, the wife cheats on you because you're fascinated with sports. Who's she cheating on you with? The nerd that's able to program her damn TiVo to record Desperate Housewives....
If this "country" wasn't composed of about 70% FAT-ASS, maybe I'd be more open to the idea of open sexuality. But until then, I don't want to see the average American doing ANYTHING sexual...
Not sure how much more grown up I can get than that. You really want to see Larry the Cable Guy and Rossanne Barr doing the nasty? Cause that's about what it would be like with 'open sexuality' here in the states.
Another goddamn "iPod Killer".
I'm sick to death of seeing that term. Here, lets give the iPod more uneeded attention by claiming each new device to be a possible "killer" of this mystical music god of portable mp3 players...
(Looking at my Google homepage with the news headlines I have up, and I see "iPod Killer" in every single damn headline about this thing, except this one. THANKYOU for not being a puppet.
You have too much faith in Windows Media Player. You should know better than to NOT use that, especially if you're already using Linux. I'll also assume that since you're on Linux, you must have a clue as to what a Codec is and why you need them. If not, well, I guess you'd just wind up throwing the video away instead of making a small fix and watching it. Right?
