  1. Ignorant on MPAA Caught Uploading Fake Torrents · · Score: 1

Most people (the masses) who download songs and movies using the likes of limewire are not aware that they are breaking the law. They don't read newspapers or watch the news on TV. They don't want to know anything about Bush, Blair, RIAA, MPAA (worse still they look down on you if you talk about politics or something in the news), they think it's all bullshit and 'don't go their' a quote! Yet if you upset these people to much they will riot in the streets.

  2. Censorship...sort of, let's make corporate money! on YouTube Blocked in Brazil · · Score: 1

Many sites are blocked in all countries in one way or another. An example in the UK which surprised me was related to the Unofficial Packardbell wiki (see link http://www.mtm.fuckyouanddie.com/wiki/doku.php?id= ). This site had all it's links from the Packardbell Userforum cut but at the same time it disappeared from Google's listing (hm...there was no fading away due to reduced usage and it is still listed by MSN!?). The search term was 'exths'. Since Packardbell use an oem windows operating system which does not use Microsoft's product activation, an alternative method was created. This involved putting hidden markings (a tattoo and exths) on the hardrive and in the dmi in your motherboard which contain information about your pc. However if your harddrive fails and you did'nt backup your hidden markings which is quite tricky and you probably won't know about, it will be necessary to use premium rate phone lines or a Packardbell engineer to replace your hardrive and reinstall your copy of Windows. Your local pc technician will not have the information to reinstall your operating system on your new hardrive. This site helps provide that information. Packardbell do everything they can to block users doing their own repairs and upgrades (related to hardrives) and suppress this site on the road to corporate profit.

  3. Energy Bullshit on How ExxonMobil Funded Global Warming Skeptics · · Score: 1

ExxonMobil moneys (along with much more from other sources i suspect) has been effectively used to suppress the green movements fight against global warming due to the use of fossil fuels.

On a local level in the UK the bullshit related to global warming is intense, we see the Irish and US airlines (BA is not to bad, well maybe!) picked on by a UK government minister in the recent news. However airlines contribute approximately 3% to global CO2 emissions (double that due to the high level at which they are released as a factor of safety) while transport and power generation contribute 50%. Cars are without doubt an area where huge CO2 cuts can be made.

Many unmodified cars can run on biodiesel which is a fuel which recycles CO2 from the Earths atmosphere. Hence it does not release 'fossil fuel CO2' which was stored underground millions of years ago. But biodiesel is totally discredited in the eyes of the public. Motor mechanics pass comments like 'don't use that shit' on the basis of passed experience with poorly made fuel (see link http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/449 605551/m/7321092461 ), which might not even be biodiesel. It is difficult to buy biodiesel which has been made to adequate standards with good quality control and making it yourself (it's a bit like homebrew) does entail fire risks. In the UK biodiesel is heavily taxed and in fact has just had a 'green tax' increase of 1.25p per litre
(see link http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/449 605551/m/6761043771). Our farmers need work and could produce much biodiesel if these taxes where removed.

Biodiesel is not an answer to all are energy problems, however used as part of a well constructed energy policy it can be of great help in sustaining the future of humanity.

ExxonMobil and other oil companies are responsible for much of the corruption at all levels in our world.

  4. Re:Not all of us are slack asses on UK Teachers Say Censor The Internet · · Score: 1

My sister was a maths teacher in inner city Liverpool. She failed to make the grade in a 3rd rate all boys school, almost had a nervous breakdown and had to resign. Class control was a big problem (she is a bit to nice) along with a lack of support from her superiors. She has vast experience dating from teaching multiracial groups in the 80's in London and has taught all over the world. She has a BSc, MSc and her teaching diploma. She was at the top of her pay grade and did not want promotion, could this be something to do with it? She is now on the scrap heap. So what has happened to make nice teachers unwanted?

'Linux is still a tiny proportion of consumer desktops and isn't rising at a measureable rate.' You don't pay much attention to things in China, India and S.America (let alone the USA and Europe). The unsinkable Titanic was sunk by a few drops of water at first, later a torrent. Linux will continue to grow with the help of multinational companies (many US) and whole counties. Microsoft has not enough power to stop Linux moving onto the average Joe's desktop. The only questions are will it be 'Microsoft Linux' (a relative of Suse?) and how long will it take?

The world does not hate the American people or for that matter the British. Huge numbers of migrant workers struggling to get into both countries suggest the opposite. What they hate is Bush and Blair and their very rich puppet masters. It is very sad that the USA and UK may pay a high human and economic price for Bush's (read neocon) vision of world dominatrion.

H'm Suse 9.3 is the my first Linux love, then came 10.0, brilliant, I thought I had found a home. I was wrong, 10.1 arrived with a broken package manager and was rescued by the Smart package manager. On top of this 10.0 supported 3d graphics for ATI cards out of the box, 10.1 did not. Further more lots of developing software was thrown into Opensuse making it cutting edge and harder to use. Opensuse is of little use to a Linux newbie. ! moved house to Ubuntu, given the deal between Microsoft and Novell I never bothered looking at 10.2. The wolf came and blew my Suse house down.....
