But what about security and DoS attacks? You could then design an app (say IE/opera/firefox) to repeatedly allow and deny this cache (by using and freeing some cleverly chosen memory) to another app (say Firefox/opera/IE) thus ruining the other's performance. Am I missing something?
Rule No. 12: Smoking does not make you look cool. It makes you look moronic. Next time you're out cruising, watch an 11-year-old with a butt in his mouth. That's what you look like to anyone over 20. Ditto for "expressing yourself" with purple hair and/or pierced body parts.
Rule No. 13: You are not immortal. (See Rule No. 12.) If you are under the impression that living fast, dying young and leaving a beautiful corpse is romantic, you obviously haven't seen one of your peers at room temperature lately.
Rule No. 14: Enjoy this while you can. Sure parents are a pain, school's a bother, and life is depressing. But someday you'll realize how wonderful it was to be a kid. Maybe you should start now. You're welcome.
Gmapez is a nice open source wrapper around the google maps api. One can use it to create such and quite a bit more complicated google maps application very quickly. All you need to do is throw is some html in a div somewhere on your page and call the gmapez javascript.
By the way, I am in no way affiliated to gmapez. I have however used it and find it useful at least whn you don't have the ytime or the need to poke deep into the google map api and still want some google maps goodness.
Here is an excellent article by Sean Carroll of the California institute of Technology that explains why all the suggestions of the parent post may not be correct.
Basically, what it says is that if two large clusters of galaxies went right through each other, and dark matter was really like the normal matter in the way the parent post suggests, we would get a different result from what would happen if dark matter was for real. Astronomers have discovered one such system and this provides conclusive evidence for the existence of dark matter.
And, again: this is not an attack on such-or-such distribution. I love all distributions, but Slackware always had -- and always will -- have a special place in my heart. And on my computers.
Frankly I think the concern about using an MS OS rather than an open source OS is misplaced. In fact despite my general dislike for MS I have to say that in this situation MS is probably a better choice than a Linux based OS.
The concern here is that all the voting machine software should be available for audit. Thus a MS based solution is not feasible.
What happens when angry mobs get these weapons and decide to use these against your marines? Its not like ammunition caches never get raided or such technology doesnt find its own way to wherever?
PS: I am not an American and hopefully will have nothing to do with angry mobs or marines ever.
No! That isn't true.. not entirely anyway. Millions of Gandhi's followers were shot in peaceful parades. The Brit problem was that killing too many made them look too bad back home. Also, Gandhi himself was too famous back home to do anything really bad to him. This wasn't the case when Gandhiji started. This was a situation gandhiji created.
Gandhiji, IMO, above all was a strategist and a great one at that. He discovered that non-violence would work for India against the Brit. And it wasnt just non-violence. It was non-violence along with non-cooperation and a cocktail of other tactics that helped speed India's independence.
In the 18th century or against the Dutch, he might (and IMHO, would) have found another variant of his strategy. Anyway, the point is that non-violence, while isnt a universal strategy, it is different from inaction and a viable strategy for a lot of conflict management. It is not as futile in the modern age as you make it out to be. If yopu take any ideal and take it to it's extreme, it will look bad. Non-violence was and is a very good option in a lot of cases even today. Just depends on if your ultimate goal really is peace. It is peace and not war that leads to better resource conflict resolution.
Happy Independence Day to all Indians around here...
WCAG 2.0 is really crappy. Its a standard that hardly achieves any real accessibility. Here is a really good rant on WCAG 2.0 - To hell with WCAG 2.0. Its about the only thing that it seems w3c has got terribly worng.
Because that is exactly the Indian pespective. This will get fixed within the week.
I love the Indian beureucracy. Through its thirteen trillion and one faults, it stands as something with just enough power to keep everything running. It totally lacks the power to do anything bad.
A great firewall of India is impossible because there are no tanks you can quelch a student movement in India with. Comparing India with China is just silly here.
How on earth is Females Outnumber Males Online related?
Mongzilla is still up on Youtube.

That is 16 INR for a dollar. Despite the recent trends that is just not gonna happen! I think the parent was being funny.
Why do people keep leaving out the last three?

Alliteration articulates an artistic and alacritous approach aimed at annotating and arranging alphabetic accoutrements as alarmingly affective alignments. Alliteration allows aspiring authors abilities above average approaches. Alliterative adroitness accentuates accomplishments (an appealing aspect appalling artistic arrangements attempt abominably).
Users understand using Uncyclopedia ultimately!
That's interesting! I never heard of that one before. Do you have a source or something where I can read more about this?
Sure, they'll do it just as soon as Firefox stops choosing Google by default.
Sure, Firefox will do it as soon as Microsoft starts paying more than what Google is paying Mozilla for the default place.
Voting machines can be constructed in any way possible, but never completely exclude the fact that you can commit fraud with them.
What about the Indian voting machines?
As they say, once a slacker always a slacker!
The concern here is that all the voting machine software should be available for audit. Thus a MS based solution is not feasible.

Windows Vista RC1 Impresses Critics
Anyone else think that this is a crazy non-scientific psychological experiment to find out how slashdot crowds respond to suggestive headlines?
