This reminds me of one of the (unintentionally) funny scenes in the books, which is more noticeable in the audio book because you can't really skip it. Essentially Boromir has just been killed, and Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn are like "Crap, there are a whole bunch of raiding parties coming, we have to get the hell out of here NOW." Which is followed by:
And so Aragorn sang:
[insert long poem here]
And then Logolas sang:
[similarly lengthy poem]
And then Aragorn sang again:
[additional lengthy poem]
It probably isn't more than two pages, the sense of urgency is lost to hilarious effect.
Agreed - I would love to have an OS that allows me to allocate my 4GB of RAM and doesn't hog system resources. Why the hell does Vista need to eat 2 gigs to run? That's ridiculous.
I'm very happy with XP in every sense except when I fire up my DAW and open a large project. I can see the process sucking up RAM, then capping out at right around 1.2GB, because clearly there's none left to allocate. I hate wasting time because the software can't handle the hardware.
Their "big name" is so tarnished that it would be more harm than boon if they were to hop on the bandwagon. Not to mention that their music has been on the decline since Master of Puppets. I think Alex Skolnick said it best about St. Anger:
"There is no unity or cohesiveness to the songs. Some of them are downright funny, as if 'Saturday Night Live' was doing a skit making fun of them. This album represents what they are now: a sloppy mess. And the heart of the matter is that this is not a good METALLICA album. I speak only as a fan. Sure, it's noisy and angry but something is seriously missing. It seems to represents a decline in the standards of this modern day and age, when we are bombarded with so much information we forget what true quality is."
