I remember when Reagan was shot, there was speculation that the shooter was politically motivated. It turned out he was mentally ill with delusions.
I may be imagining this, but I have the strange feeling that whenever a single person attacks a politician somewhere in the western world, soon it is discovered that this person has one or the other mental illness.
On the other hand...This certainly must be true since no person would attack democratically elected officials who spend all their time on such ungrateful jobs for the common good.
He is not acting like Bush, he is acting like an American president.
If that is how you imagine American president should act like, you people are in serious trouble.
Not how American presidents should act like, but how they act like. Regardless of name. The differences are marginal so if does not make sense to say 'Obama is acting like Bush' when he actually acts just like an average American president. Bush was not much worse than any president before him and Obama isn't much better.
Western countries are not better. Wait a few years and most of the internet restrictions will be implemented here, too. The excuses will be different and of course it will be a total different thing since were are the good by definition.
Whether Apple, Microsoft, Google sue each other to bankruptcy hardly matters. The money remains in the country.
Software and other patents will go away as soon as they not profitable anymore for the U.S. American economy. So lets hope China will catch up soon with its patents so America has to pay more for patents than it receives.
Yeah, I did not expect much from the beginning. But I was surprised too often. Did not like season 1 of Supernatural. Now it is one of my favourites. I noone can say I don't give new series a fair chance. But I stopped SGU when I noticed that I was not only bored, but became more and more disgusted of the people in the show.
Yeah, and to see real people I watch a scifi series. Call me juvenile or worse, but I don't give a shit for other people. I want light, interesting entertainment. Preferably scifi, fantasy, or horror based. Modern fairy tales. A more adult scifi series is bull. For most nerds like me it is close to disgusting, for other more 'mature' watchers it mostly remains too corny because of the juvenile genre.
...watching, but also deleted all eps. I found the first season incredible boring, but kept watching. First seasons of many series started somewhat weak, but after the second or third ep. of season two I deleted everything I had. Nerd factor: 0. Whiny, emotional women crap: 5000. Thanks, but no thanks.
Or you are a nerd. In that case this show is not for you. Too much whiny human/human stuff. Maybe fine for a certain female audience. I stopped watching
when this colorless lacrimal gland got pregnant.
I am a 'geek'. Actually I am a freelancer who worked on a few military projects. Did I understand what I did from a military point of view? Nope, not a bit. I did not need to. A little bit simplified my work boiled down to: If you receive a message, which contains a value between x and y display a red icon, else display it in green. <--- Really simplified.
Does this mean I am generally unable to understand the reasons behind those requirements? Of course not. I just did not care. Not my job.
On another non-military project I got the task to help to develop some traffic simulation models. There I did quite a few consistency checks for the incoming data. Guess my customer was stupid to give me the job. According to the article (no, I did not the original) some old war veteran should have been much better suited for this task and might have been cheaper.
A fighter would understand, for instance, if an enemy had penetrated the networks and changed coordinates or target times, said Dusty Rhoads, a retired Air Force colonel and former F-117 pilot who recruited the original task force members. "A techie wouldn't have a clue," he said.'"
Utter nonsense. If those changes can be determined by statistical or other algorithms then this most likely belongs to the tasks where a computer outperforms a human being considerably. To develop such a system is geek work. If not, it does not matter who does the guesswork. Rolling dices would probably as good.

Interviews often really are a problem. I am freelancer for years, but still hate them. Would I be able to pass the FizzBang test? On my own at home? For sure. During an interview? Not so sure. Even though I have a proven track record of successfully completed projects and a couple of small open source projects on sourceforge I constantly fail interviews. Do I care? Not really. I still have more project offers than I can handle. And those who actually hire me try to keep me as long as possible. What does this say about me? I'd say technically ok, people skills suck. What does this say about the people who hire? They don't know their jobs and might reconsider their hiring requirements.

Sorry, wrong format. I post in too many forums. Really should have used preview.

Face it, it's better to do a good job on two things than shitty job on three. This is probably the reason why you didn't get promoted--as a rule, people don't get promoted for doing shitty work.
This is not what I see everywhere I go. At least in Germany: Do a shitty job. Else you chances of promotion are slim. The incompetenter you are the better.

Settle down sport - there's no need to exaggerate. BigPuddle censors the 'net, but that entirely voluntary.
If this is exaggeration and voluntary come to Germany. Here is drawn child pornography and written fictional stories treated as the real thing.
Anyone notice Obama is acting a lot like Bush lately?

The people were more believable as real people.

Well, Fringe is a million times more interesting and enjoyable than either of them.
Season 1 and 2: Yes. Season 3 is currently on a slow slope down to the same drama crap. No fun anymore, but plenty of emotional yada yada.
Perfect. 100% the way I felt about this crap series, but was too lazy to write myself.

What's your problem? As far as I know your government is still democratically elected. So elect another one next time.
If Americans want to redefine the kilogram it most likely means that in the next step they try to get royalties whenever someone weighs something.
maybe I'm too old for these kinds of shows now

Both is correct. Or incorrect. Depending on what OS you are. ;-)

Although, I bet if they changed the problem in the article, students would get it quickly. 4+3+2=2+() There's no "= ()" to screw with their minds.
Not much mind in the first place to screw, if above really is a problem.

Don't know if this is so great for NZ. If this decision hurts the US economy too much, there might be weapons of mass destruction be found in NZ.
Yes. Please more of them. I love them.
:-D
Ok, ok, not literally them, but the mess they often make and the money I make cleaning up after them.
Nope, I am freelancer. Seen enough companies where the most incompetent had the highest positions. This cannot be coincidence.
