    I'd be paying more attention to the road if I was letting that death trap drive me around. I think you'd find that the demographic that makes up Tesla owners are in general better drivers. These aren't young reckless individuals. I think if you gave these autonomous cars to 1000 16 year old drivers, you'd see very different results.

    Most of the stuff people use their computers or phones for is already browser based or soon will be. The slight UI differences between accessing browsers via iOS, OS X, Windows, Linux or Android isn't worth paying a premium for. When it comes to hardware specs Apple has lost the lead.

    In the long term OSS seems to win out and I don't have much faith in Apples closed ecosystem. It's too expensive in the long term. In the short term you win.

    They used to sell tablets not preloaded with Google apps. No one bought them. Fortunately it was trivial to install them, but users prefer to have a consistent ecosystem.

    They should sue Apple for not allowing you to remove and replace the App store. This is a choice for android.

    If I lose my home Internet I lose my television. I'd probably go with home Internet. It's a tough choice, but unlimited data plans for streaming to mobile would never work for this purpose.

    I hit a balloon by accident with a Cessna 152 on my way back from my private pilot exam. My flight instructor said he couldn't hit one if he tried.

    He told me a story where his flight instructor was like:

    Drones are far less likely to take out multiple engines. I mean a flock of drones are not that common. I'd argue jets engines are more susceptible than props, but most jets have multiple engines.

    I'd also like someone to test the claim that a lipo batteries are more devastating to a jet engine than a bird.

    if you decide to cut through a lipo cell make sure it's fully charge and record it. also make sure you have proper protective gear and fire extinguishers.

    Poor contrast ratios.
    Sub part seats
    Fixed schedule.
    No ability to pause for urination.
    Terrible food
    Expensive food.
    Impolite movie patrons.
    Sub part equipment or poorly trained operators ruining the experience.
    Can't go to the movie theater in my underwear.

    I stopped going when I got my first 50 inch tv.

    Some folks think that because some white guy defined what an octave means that all music was invented by Europeans. It's very close minded. Jazz is a combination of European and African music.

    Don't be an alarmist. China doesn't fab that many flash chips and even if they did the most likely vector is at the programming stage. Embedding a vulnerable ROM in the flash or CPU would require significantly more technical sophistication. Not only would it need to be implemented at great cost, but it would also have to escape detection when someone tries to upgrade the software.

    The problem is Cybersecurity is it's a mindset. You can't just give one class on the subject. Database classes are not required in undergraduate programs and SQL injections aren't mentioned when your class is more focused on relational algebra.

    About 1/5 of that class needs no explanation and 4/5 would claim to understand it if explained to them, but never think about it once they graduate.

    Either you get it immediately or it needs to be pound into you at the work place. Many work places have mechanisms in place to verify these vulnerabilities are not introduced. Others do not. I think that's a critical flaw.

    The cost of using machine driven patents as prior art to fight a patent troll? Millions.

    A patent troll doesn't need a bullet proof patent to make your life miserable. It can be easier and cheaper to just pay them.

    I've seen a hang glider crash. It happened real quick. The guy stalled and went straight down fairly close to me.

    I've also seen the results of a Cessna crashed on a runway after power loss. The pilot turned around, had a bit too much altitude, freaked out and stalled 1/2 down the runway. This is why you practice your sideslips.

    Both walked away.

    The difference between those two crashes and a jet pack crash is that former crashes could have been avoided by good pilots. When a jet pack looses power you're always fucked.

    Sounds similar to arguments the NRA has been using for years. Congress is not persuaded by logic. Let's add pieces to this. If all legal encryption is breakable then criminals would use unbreakable encryption, criminals would decrypt all law abiding internet traffic and Congress will be faced with the same reality China faces with the great firewall of China; Some tech just can't be regulated.

    I love it when nerds can emasculate politicians.

    RTFA. The title is misleading. The vulnerability resets your MODEM and possibly causes reprovisioning due to a factory reset. Some ISPs don't do this automatically for some reason.
