    You're correct that it's part of the Banks deal with you. But that *isn't* part of the 4th amendment (my point).

    Technically, your financial records aren't *your* property. They belong to the bank and are readily available to others at any given point. No 4th amendment problem here.

    I'm surprised there aren't records for 'WEB' and 'FTP' and the like. Why are we still relying on well-known-ports so much? DNS could point to many different types of resources similar to 'MX'...

    Seriously though, how many "regular" computer users have access to the source code for their applications or would even know what to do with it if they did.

    There is a vast horde of us Gentoo users who are laughing like hell at you right now.

    This is the nicest thing about distributing applications as source. Who cares what architecture I run on, if it'll compile it'll be optimized and work on my local hardware! Itanium, x86-64, x86, any will do. I'll just 'emerge -ev world' and everything will recompile and run just fine. :-)

    Interesting that you assume everybody is like you, and therefore lazy or a pot-head if they have trouble sleeping.

    Some of us don't get to sleep well. I know *I* don't. I can lay in bed for hours without sleeping. No matter how dark, cool, quiet the room is.

    I had actually heard somewhere (on TV, not sure what show) that people in the military will do this. The natural 'urge' in the morning can definitely aid in waking up.

    I've yet to try this since I heard about it. Perhaps I'll give it a go tonight...

    I hear that! My biggest problem with getting to sleep at night is that I just plain get bored if I don't fall asleep quickly. Most people here are saying 'just go to sleep earlier'. That doesn't necessarilly work. I can go to bed at 20h00, and not get to sleep for hours...

    Just to get a bit more off topic here. People who believe that abortion *is* murder may be tunnel-visioned (as you put it). But keep in mind that anyone who tries to convince them otherwise is effectively trying to justify murder to them.

    Many people get upset when you tell them 'murder is okay'.

    I think the biggest difference with the Opteron is that in 64-bit mode it has a different instruction set, more registers, etc. It's a completely different beast than when it's running 32-bit mode.

    I agree with you on Shrek. Especially the bit about 'stale, juvenile humor.' Now, I'm usually one who is *for* juvenile humor. But there is Good juvenile humor and Bad juvenile humor. Shrek had the latter.

    I found most of the jokes just way too obvious...

    Actually, in Massachusetts it was over marriage (sacramental unions). You're thinking of Vermont (which passed a law allowing civil unions). The difference is that many *other* laws will make exceptions for a 'married' couple, but not a 'civil unioned' couple. Thus the gays/lesbians are fighting for 'marriage'.

    Can't a country do more than one thing at a time though? They need a *lot* of things. An internet infrastructure will be one of those. It's become a major part of doing business these days.

    During the U.S. war for independence, the U.S. government fell into disarray as well (it didn't spring up over-night with all it's power and laws you know). And yet people still pursued other things during this 10-20 years. These two guys are doing what they *can* at this point.

    1) Bitch about "easy" ask-slashdot questions. After all, you *do* know everything don't you?
    2) Answer the "easy" question with vague mumblings about "google", "open source", and a few links to stuff that won't answer the question (but it looks like you really know your stuff if you do).
    3) Bitch (there's a lot of that if you're going to be pretentious) about the "stupid" moderators and editors. They are, afterall, morons aren't they?

    Yessir, just follow these three simple rules, and you too will find yourself modded +5 insightful whereas all your detractors will be -1 troll!

    I think the idea here is: if it's wrong then you make a law against it. Just because other countries don't follow suit or haven't done so already, then it doesn't mean we should do nothing.

    Perhaps the U.S. will pressure other nations to pass similar laws? Perhaps other nations will pass similar laws of their own accord? Spammers could eventually find it difficult to find a nation that is 'spam friendly'.
