"Photo's used to be precious, they carried a real cost (film, development and printing), and because of that, you used to think about what was worth taking a picture of."
Obviously you never met my wife! We have stacks of photo albums documenting my kids history from their first burp to well yesterday. I sure if we ran them with a.25 second delay between frames it would appear like a cheap animation.
The problem is not with volume but with organization and storage.
I love the digital medium, A little organization, some careful selection, a few digital frames and wow, we are now seeing pictures that would normally sat in a photo album only to be seen at weddings or funerals.
It is just a different way of thinking about the photo.
This is really getting ridiculous! Patents should protect an inventors idea. but patenting a simply question is getting stupid. pretty soon the bathroom attendendant wont be able to ask if you would like a towel.
The discussion I have been reading is all about work outs? I personally cant stand a work out!
However, why not take up squash ladder, join a soccer team? I started riding motocross (yes I am a programmer) I was 5' 10" 205 lb, 47 year old. twice a week I ride hard (dripping sweat hard). Now I am at 182, and having a ton of fun. I have found that most adult "fun" sports are very accepting to new members. Its what keeps their "club" going. The other thing a team will do, is put pressure on you to attend as you have made a commitment to the team as well as yourself. There is also the benefit of the social aspect of the requesite beer after said event.
Would be really nice to get a mug shot of the person using the PC? If you have access and full control as the admin, get a snapshot of the user and send that to the Police. That would definately peak their interest.
Everyone seams to think that telecommuting is a license for time off when you want it. Not so. I have been telecommuting for over 5 years now (no I don't want a promotion and one will not come unless I am willing to move to another country).
However! when we add more staff (telecommutting or not) I have the expectation that during the hours of X - X I can message, phone, conf with any of them. The only difference with my job is where I sit and the cost of office space.
Wish I could remember the mag I read it in, but there is some company working Motocross gear made from simialr stuff. It created a Roost Guard (chest/shoulder protector) from foam coated with this stuff. The foam was flexible until impact, then the foam became rigid absorbing the impact. The rigidity was based on the speed of compression of the foam. The faster the impact the harder the foam. So for regular riding, it was like wearing a 1/2" layer of flexible foam. If the bike in front spit up a rock, it hit your chest and became hard during the impact then soft again. Or as soon as you went over your bars and landed on your shoulder, the shoulder area became rigid during impact then soft as you lay on the ground wondering what happpend. The last demo was actually going into the bars with your chest and having the whole chest plate harden during impact!
I think the projected public delivery date was around 2008 but for the life of me I cant find the article again. I do remember that it was a British company making the stuff.

I googled this and found 187,003 entries. Pick 5 of them, and found out that this really isnt a problem.
