I wonder if book publishers can afford to say no when California wants a text book that is different from Texas' and is based off of material that current text books are already using
Your ideas are fine and all but the real issue here isn't the fact that decisions were made at the wrong level. The problem here is that decisions are being made by a group of people with an agenda to pass that completely goes against our countries constitution. Even worse, they're trying to educate our future children concepts that are polar opposites of what our country was founded upon.
You must have no idea what the VA health care system is like. I can tell you for a fact that civilian health care was much better. My endodontist wanted to extract my tooth without even trying to save it and denied the option for implants, both of which my civilian endodontist offered. Besides that, I can't go to a civilian health care provider because the military already offers one, even if it may be inferior.
I think you're thinking too far into what the parent was saying, or I'm not thinking far enough. But what was asked is why people would sign up with families. And the reason is those people that have families need to support their kids and spouses. The military really takes care of the spouses and kids of those who volunteer for the military whether it be financially, medically, or the numerous other benefits. That sounds to me like ensuring a future for their children.
When you say "database", I imagine you're referring to the traditional relational database. I've never used Cassandra or Voldemort but I have used memcachedb and tokyodb and the one major difference is that you can't select on ranges in a key/value system. You can't select all keys > 100 or keys 100 - 500, etc
Well, you have to be rational about the taxation or else a black market will still exist
It will only exist if the cost of the legalized marijuana and the taxes cost more than the current street prices. At the current street price of approx $20/gram, I doubt a 100% tax will exceed that.
I'm sorry, but you're speaking out of your ass. You have never visited the "poor" parts of China. I have relatives that live an hour and a half by dirt road in the mountains and they are poor. My aunts went there with video cameras to record the way they live and they literally sleep as many people as they can in a room until they're all touching each other. They have about one toilet per 15 people. They had one light bulb per room and their water is filthy. The only proteins they eat are from fish that they catch in a pond next door. Each person doesn't get more than couple small pieces of fish to eat. And filthy running water and a light bulb is not a LOT better off than their parents.
Well just food for thought, but how much of these mental issues are caused by the chemicals we're putting into our children's systems? Some of us force our kids to take all kinds of chemicals that we don't always know for certain whether it or not it may cause some longer term mental health issues (ie: ADHD drugs). Others times, we inadvertently drug up our kids by buying them plastic beads that contain GHB or penchants that are made of cadium
Since you don't seem to mind how people convey a correct message, even if they are complete assholes, I hope the next time someone explains to you how to do something that you did wrong, they punch you in the face.
Again, as you might imagine with a corporation as large as Best Buy, consistency is not exactly 100%
Although that may be right, that has nothing to do with the fact that its a large corporation. In fact, it should be quite the opposite. If there really is no process for how geek squad operates, then I'm going to bet that to be the downfall of Best Buy. Think about it, we shop at corporations because we can expect consistency. We know that when we go from one store to another, the prices are the same, the return policies are the same, the customer services is the same, etc. If I shopped at an out of town Walmart that sold me something that can't be returned at a local Walmart, why the hell would I want to buy that thing unless I was absolutely certain I wanted to return it?
That same principle should extend to GeekSquad. If I take it to one BestBuy to get my computer fixed, the next time I take my computer to another BestBuy, it sure as shit better come out the same. Otherwise, you're going to have lost sales, confused employees, and most importantly a pissed off customer with unfulfilled expectations.
If you're going to assert that Firefox does indeed support multi-threading, I think it'd be more informative if you could post evidence that Firefox is in fact threaded than the difference between a thread and a process. Or is the issue here that people are incorrectly using the term multithreading? If thats the case, I think you should make that point instead. Whatever your point is, its like saying Intel supports SLI. PCI Express is not the same as ISA.
if designers don't understand the limitations of manufacturing and real world constraints, then they are bad designers. that has nothing to do with having to have manufacturing processes local.
the segway is not an example of a bad design. in fact, its arguably a really well thought out design that functions well. the problem with the segway is they tried to create a solution for a problem that didn't exist.
my point still stands, manufacturing is meant for cheap labor. having an expert understanding in how manufacturing is done may be necessary for a designer, as you mentioned. but the manufacturing process should not be local.

Why not? The Japanese rewrote the parts of history they didn't like too...
I'm sure it'll be very appropriate when a suicide bomber goes into your country and detonates a bomb that kills your entire family.

Now that there is research out there showing that Monsanto corn is bad for our health, I'm wondering how long until they start getting sued
Any shareholder who would invest in a company that actually perceived a duty to kill humans in pursuit of profit is a fool of an investor.
Considering 4 of the 7 major tobacco producers are part of the S&P 500 and 2 of them are part of the S&P 100, I'd have to say you're WAY off
I'm sure this guy would have appreciated your kind gesture
mod parent up

where the hell do you buy your cars at? none of my mines come with armor and/or guns
If you've got issues with the semantics of a field of study, I say you pick on political science and social science first

well if you watch the video, he's talking about swapping your sex robot with your friends like its a freaking video game
the dude in that video was kinda weird... he was talking about wife/girl friend swapping? wtf is that? did they build a swinging robot?

All that shows is that one knows how to stimulate the g-spot and the other doesn't. There are plenty of women that don't know where their spot is at.
one of several significant stimulus points
There are actually quite a few. For those that don't know them, here's a good list of the 4 I've learned of

Apple does have a patent on multitouch but it appears to be very specific to their hardware
