Since you want to go back to a business analogy, that would be comparable to the business is unprofitable and nearing bankruptcy. In that situation, you do look at which employees are worth getting rid of. Why the hell you would defend keeping bad teachers is incomprehensible.

And this is EXACTLY what the problem is with our schooling system. The idea that having kids go to school during the summer and more than just 5 hours a day is child abuse. Until we can abolish that type of mentality, forget about giving our kids a better education because the parents are going to fight it tooth and nail.

there are so many things wrong with our current education system that there is no single problem that we need to fix and the inability to get rid of bad teachers is definitely one of those problems.
one of my friends runs the premier english school in taipei and what his philosophy in schooling isn't just educating the students, its educating the parents. he literally has classes that the parents are forced to go to where he teaches them how to parent their children because the majority of parents don't know how to do it right. and his method has been successful. he consistently produces children that score highest in the country and make it into the ivy league schools back here in the states.
Its not like Math changes every year. The text book industry and publishers are just ripping students off every year. If they would just publish one edition of their text books, we wouldn't have this problem.

Delisting SOPA supporters and delisting Apple are two completely different things. The implication that SOPA has is vastly more detrimental than any of the other two examples you mentioned. Granted, it may be a slippery slope, but isn't this a risk worth taking? It's time for desperate measures.
the internet community just decided to violate SOPA and PIPA. they would be taken to court and if the general populace is strongly opposed enough to the legislation, the jury could nullify the legislation? would that be enough to overturn the new laws? or is that just wishful dreaming?
just for a day? they should do it permanently. what does google have to gain from listing them? listing them will only drive more revenue to those sponsors which will just increase the amount of money those supporters will use to drive forward legislative acts that take away our rights
