You can either edit the registry (Add a new key and set it to hex value B5) or add a group policy in MMC, and people say Aunt Mildred has problems with Linux;)
Install all the manuals and then "apropos $keyword" was my route into Unix. Now the manuals may be written on the presumption that you already know and just need a reminder but I managed to teach myself a lot from them and discover which commands I should research
Then it shouldn't have standing as a person in court, you can't jail a corporation for the crimes it may commit etc... old argument "Corporations haven't a head to think with nor an ass to kick" -Mark Twain
We have implemented a similar project in our local school.
Debian server
OpenLDAP
Samba
Edubuntu on the client machines
A combination of XP and LTSP to Edubuntu in the computer lab
OpenLDAP takes a while to configure but it does work eventually. When new students are added to the school DB they are added to the system by a Perl script which generates entries automatically and mails the class tutor with their login details.
They can however marry in other countries and may opt to remain in those countries rather than travel to a medieval theocracy for employment. Thus reducing Google's ability to recruit internationally.
A slightly me too post, I've used Linux since the mid 90's and having to do the maths for the modelines in X86Config was instructional.
Now outside of LFS you don't need to get into this level of detail any more on any distro but Ubuntu was the first distro to "just work(TM)" for me so I've stuck with it.
For people who want to get to know the Linux more completely they can then move on to Slack and then LFS as they gain confidence but Ubuntu is a great default.
That said diversity is a strength and I'd hate to see the Linux landscape reduced to a single distro.
I suspect that the Hover dam would be less useful than it currently is if it received no maintenance for the last 80 years, and I'm not sure I'd use a bridge that hadn't been maintained for 80 years, so why shouldn't software receive maintenance also?
A properly designed mail server would accept mails to named distribution groups and just drop the mails into each of the associated mailboxes for internal mailing lists. I know this is how it works with our mailserver and yes the physical IMAP machines are on different continents but each IMAP server recieves only one copy of the mail over the network.
Because local businesses gained skills providing services to the Dell plant and while they won't initially employ the laid off workers indigenous firms will grow out of the wreckage with skills and products that weren't previously present in the local economy.
Not to spawn a pointless off-topic flame war or anything, but at least we have a constitution and so the population gets to vote on it. If the Lisbon treaty, which isn't a constitution, were put to a plebiscite throughout Europe Ireland wouldn't be the only ones rejecting it, in fact support for the European project is probably higher in Ireland than anywhere else in Europe.
Anyway, back on topic, it's a shame for the people in Limerick where the plant was sited, however the jobs going are the assembly line jobs, Dells European planning and management structures remain in Ireland for now.
An interesting workaround for companies in that situation we all know it the USian patent system is broken and hopefully will get rebuilt sensibly in the near future, the patent in question is so broad it should never have been granted.
Ahh Buckfast, fondly known as a bottle of breach, because you inevitably get done for breach of the peace after a bottle, (for those living outside Glasgow it's a fortified "Tonic wine" made by an order of silent monks, personally I reckon they just can't speak they're that hammered, but amongst it's health giving ingredients are alcohol caffeine and assorted herbs. Vodka and Red Bull before it's time)
I almost agree, right up to abandoning BASIC, at this point I would recommend splitting into three classes learning Pascal, Scheme and Smalltalk (or whatever they're teaching now). This would help the students to learn the pros and cons of each language type and give them a more complete set of programming mindsets from which to examine a problem.
While your stapler remains locked in your drawer there is no security issue with your stapler, however as soon as you let "Bob" use it it will get lost. He'll give it to Eve, who'll promise to hand it on to you untouched but...
Oh sod it I'm not going to draw another pointless Slashdot analogy, your desktop computer needs to communicate with the outside world to get useful work done, it needs to process the results of that communication, no matter how good your filtering technology some smart-arse will find a way to subvert it. Security is about secure systems all the way down, ring-fencing any segment and declaring it as secure because it's behind a firewall is self-delusion.
Now next question, do any of your staff work from home? Do they have kids? Do sales staff connect to client's networks when they are off site?
Which is why ICANN needs shooting. the notion that people of good will should have to club together to put these domains out of the herders reach is objectionable.
OK, I'm wandering way off topic here but I find this is an interesting question, does a company which outsources everything except the marketing and distribution actually produce anything?
While none of us would argue that MS doesn't produce software (though some may quibble over it's quality) is the marketing and distribution of hardware manufactured and assembled elsewhere production any more?
Presuming the answer is no, do any Multi-national companies really make stuff or have they outsourced the difficult expensive bit to other countries, leaving us in the west with a marketing industry which produces nothing of value?
eggs, spam, spam and spam (or spam omelette in this case) refers, I believe, to desired communication, penis enlargement offers, offers to earn cash working from home and offers of a generous percentage of the loot in exchange for assisting a Mr F. Obasanway to get his deceased uncles funds out of Nigeria.
The omelette itself is your MUA. But to really get this we need a car analogy;0
You grew up on a mix farm, there is a world of difference between that and a feedlot or a battery farming operation.
Now I'm fond of good meat myself, but good meat is getting harder to find :(
The "B Ark" solution, I like it.

As the banks are not giving out credit any more he's probably safe on this one for a while ;)

Samba once set up works wonderfully for us.
Best of luck and hope it works out well for you.

Addiction transference get real, some of us consider caffeine and nicotine the essential ingredients of a healthy breakfast I'll have you know.
Granted I do no where near as much amphetamine as I used to and haven't touched MDMA, meth or Coke in years.
Hmm, perhaps you have something there...

I believe the Polish government is offering them a €55M grant to help offset the costs of building the plant

My first thought was Bill Hicks' rant on the notion of his mother discovering his porn stash upon his death.
"And there's my little Bill when he was a scout, sniff, and what's in these boxes over here ...." I'm tellin' ya, there'd be two funerals that day

So you want to catch something begining with an upper case letter and match until the next uppercase letter, number or space?
print $1 if ($text =~ m/([A-Z][^A-Z 0-9]+)/);
Ohh shiny. That's a new one on me, thanks I can see this being useful
