If we're going to talk about massive electronics companies that have done things they shouldn't years ago why not hold IBM accountable too? Godwin's law would be disappointed if no one mentioned it.
Personally I think expecting massive corps that operate exclusively for the short term benefit of their shareholders to not lie cheat and steal and otherwise act badly to increase short term profits is like expecting a politician to not be influenced by lobbying. (that's what we call legalized bribery here in the US).

Sony rootkits.
Need I go on? They are quite happy to screw you over if it makes them an extra 10 cents at the end of the year.
It's more of a systemic problem they are setup to work this way. As they are most often run by the numbers alone.
It was my understanding that the plowshare program was ended because they weren't able to make them detonate cleanly enough to use they were plenty precise enough for the applications they tried as I recall.
But then again they have been using depleted uranium rounds on the battlefield for years so It may just be considered acceptable now.
I already have a car that can self diagnose. It just has a problem telling me what's wrong I get this check engine light what's wrong chevvy? Is the gas cap loose? "purrr" Has one of the spark plugs gone bad? "purrr" Is one of the half dozen filters clogged? "purrr" is there a pressure leak in the fuel system? "purrr" Does the oil need to be changed? "purrr" Has timmy's fallen down a well? "purrr"
I suppose I will have to take it back to the parts store again and have them hook up their $2000 code reader and check it.
*10 minutes later.
Well would you look at that P0442 small evap system leak. Now i've replaced the gas cap and still have that code. Where's the leak chevvy? "purrr".............Yeah that's really helpful. How about one that can tell you what's wrong instead of just throwing a generic check engine light for everything. That would be one hell of an improvement.
I originally started out with the ge led bulbs but found they didn't last so since then ive been buying walmarts great value brand they have held up a lot better than the ge led bulbs which is suprising since they are cheaper and ge is a well known name brand. (however my electrition likes to refer to them as good enough) I also have several cree 100w equiv bulbs because I haven't been able to find any other brand that can make a 100w equivalent that will fit in the globes in my house. The designer must have had one in his house because if it was a mm wider or a half inch taller it wouldn't fit. I don't really like the sticky shatterproof coating tho.
I always buy the non dimmable versions when available because its about $2 cheaper per bulb and I don't happen to have a dimmer in my house and often the non dimmable versions are rated to use less wattage.
I have a couple of 60w equiv great value bulbs flashing in a marquee sign probbably been about a year now. No issues. My first attempt was with a couple of ge cfls (40w equiv leds wern't available yet) but they only lasted one day. After that I switched to a couple of 40w equiv ccfl bulbs I forget the brand. They lasted over a year. By that time they burnt out led bulbs were available for a fraction of the price of the ccfl bulbs.
Also be very careful with old style rope lights they get hot and melt where they touch together. The led type rope lights however operate very cool even on a spool.
The town I live in only has crosswalks in one place Walmart. The rest of the town is unmarked so people just cross wherever whenever it is safe to do so it is very often selectively enforced when it really ought not apply anymore anyhow.
We use them to fool old folks into thinking they are making money by picking up pennies. Then when their back goes out from bending over to pick them up wham $12,000 hospital bill.
Oh ideal? Well we could stop giving all the tv coverage to terrorists maybe even go after those mass murdering telemarketers. Copyright could be rolled back to a reasonable length. We could eliminate another disease worldwide like we did with smallpox. We could go back to having the option to pay for software. We could have a sell it or STFU law to prevent companies from claiming losses on patents and copyrights they have absolutely no intentions of ever using.
As for worse Well copyright could be extended another 100 years. Because that's why! Both paid and free games could be ad supported with no way to disable them because piracy. All applications could become freemium want to be able to select text? $0.99 5 uses. Uninstall a program $9.99 each. We could have our rights further eroded for the fight against terrorists Eg having broken encryption in the US while everyone else has security. We could see the return of polio here in the US due to lack of education and care.
I also asked Canon, Epson & Brother who quickly replied with a list of models. I even got a message back from kodak that they no longer made consumer inkjet printers.
But dell emailed back that I had to call and talk to a Indian that could barely speak english....I gave up after 10 minutes trying to explain I wanted a printer not a CD burner.
Funny thing is netflix says copyright is not why they don't offer it. http://gizmodo.com/the-real-re... "According to Neil Hunt, Netflix's Chief Product Officer, Netflix users won't be able to handle the complexity the added choice will bring." Apparently us consumers are too dumb to handle one more choice after being given the choice of a few thousand things too watch herp de duur.
Although I have to admit a few months ago I had to explain to someone that they had to have internet service to use netflix for whatever reason they just couldn't seem to grasp that all the stuff on netflix wouldn't fit on a ps3...So Maybe in a few months netflix will drop everything but house of cards. That would simplify things. With the added bonus the entire catalog would fit on a ps3.
I seem to remember someone trying to tweet a whole movie frame by frame..... Oh there it is http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/tr... They didn't get very far.
Hmm an 06 corvette needs a map disc that's juuuuust 179.99 + 3.95 S&H and they dropped support and now the last map update came out in 2013... Good luck finding those roads from 2014 & 2015....
Well lets see if you sell a gun on gunbroker you have to ship it to a FFL dealer for transfer unless the person you sold it to happens to be a ffl dealer.
And guess what the dealer you shipped it to gets to do? They get to run a background check on the person who purchased it before disposition Muhahahaha its like nothing has changed at all.
I would Prefer if they did require background checks at gun shows. Despite it being law since what 1998? Most people do not understand that there is no gun registry (At least not in OK & AR) and in many states it would be illegal to have such a registry.
But still yet people think that they are registered and will buy guns at gunshows instead of in a gun store even if the guns are cheaper in the store across the street from the gun show because there is a lack of paperwork.
The only use for these is in a direct confrontation. If anyone expects this to work as some type of antitheft they are crazy. it's a gun there will be some way to bypass the safety but as long as it takes at least a few minutes and can't be done while you're being shot at. It should work fairly well at keeping you from getting shot with you own gun but that's about all it can do.
Speaking of DRM why do we still have HDCP? It doesn't work and it's a PITA if you have an older tv.
Best case scenario: Gun that doesn't shoot you when it's taken from you. Worst case scenario (most likely) : Gun that doesn't shoot when you need it to.
Still yet I like the idea. I just don't think I will like the implementation.
In gun's defense most of the time you don't need to shoot all someone has to do is see it to de-escalate the problem.
Still you wouldn't carry around a toy pistol and just hope you could could scare an off an attacker before they realised would you?
Well if the city signs a capacity agreement ( http://ok-sallisaw2.civicplus.... PDF WARNING!! ) I bet they expect unlimited usage for the speed they paid for.
Just like I expect to be able to use my connection as much as I like when my isp says unlimited.
I suppose I could pay 7.78/MB Like the city does and have a dedicated line Just $77.80 for a 10/10 connection.... That's not a lot higher than what the city charges for $55 for 10/10. But why? All three isp's in town have absolutely no usage limits for business.
Even knowing what a phones ipv6 address is I still can't make a direct connection to it on Verizon wireless. Why even give us an ipv6 address if its just as useless as a natted ipv4 address?
In the us the NSA considers what numbers you called and what numbers called you and how long the calls were connected metadata.
So I will assume when applied to ISPs that they are going to be logging endpoint information as in a log of every ip:port connection in and out w/duration for your connection.
This is often enough to determine what websites were visited as most websites have a dedicated ip for their domain but some have several websites hosted under the same ip address.
My first thought would be to setup a portscan all ports random addresses idle speed and scan the full ipv4 address space.
But looking through the connection duration would filter that out
You could run a web spider that should do a pretty good job at making requests that resemble normal usage. But running a full scan of the ipv4 space should do a great job if your objective is to create a huge unwieldy logfile.
This is assuming that dns requests aren't being logged and http headers aren't being collected.
Will it help your privacy any? Maybe if the log file is size limited. Otherwise not likely.
VPN at your router would limit you to one endpoint this would make for the shortest log file although a connection lasting more than 24 hours would stick out.
For some reason people want personal space we already have buses and taxis yet people still own their own car (well I say own but many are still making payments)
I have a samsung convoy 3 that is fully up to date and works fine as a phone and is fair at texting. I have an ipod touch with ibluever installed. Best of both worlds. I have the power of a smartphone and can make and receive calls without having to hold my phone a funny way.
Ill stick with a basic phone until either verizon refuses to sell service for basic phones or they decide to not charge an extra 10$ "Because its a smart phone".
Yeap that's exactly how people greet each other in NY....CA's standard greeting is pretty similar.

Really thats about all they do at this point.
First I figure it could still be done if the new length applied only to new works after a set date.
Second I hope you're right but there happens to be a certain perpetually protected mouse who will test that in 2024.
How come drugs have limits but a book of cat names can go multiple lifetimes? Ridiculous.

I asked if dell made a mfc scan/print/fax that could print on discs.
Afaik dell doesn't sell printers. Or atleast dells sales depot couldn't find one.

Now people selling guns on craigslist? YMMV.

Yep and spell check won't catch the mistake because it's still a word albeit not the correct one.

Sounds like a good reason for me to not update from ios 6.1.3 on my ipad2.
