because of the load balancer, do a nslookup hotmail.com you will get Name: hotmail.com Addresses: 209.185.243.7, 216.33.238.7, 216.33.151.7,209.185.243.135 the first time you do it you will go to the first ip the 2nd the 2nd ip etc etc etc so each server has about the same amount of hits
3.4 is not being worked on. 3.5 was the last release of 3.x branch. 4.x is the -stable branch (2.2 in linux) 5.x is the -current (2.4/2.3 in linux) and 3.x (2.0 in linux).. and i guess your wondering why 3.5 came out. well since linux is no less than a kernel not an os its different than freebsd. FreeBSD is an OS and a KERNEL. 3.5 came out just some upgrades to alot of programs etc. because alot of ppl stayed with 3.x when 4.0 came out because.0 is kinda iffy if you know what i mean. But it has been proven that 4.0 was a great stable release.
Im not 100% sure about this but.. From what ive read mac is not includeing a Xserver. So what ever gui server they are useing.. Will gtk,qt stuff work with out an Xserver?
Might be just me but if you take a look at securityfocus.com and look at slackware there are 0 (this year)! and then you look at debian and theres a few esp last year but most are due to packages but they were fixed very fast. I dont see why debian and slack were not done.
im guessing because up2date isnt a free peice of software , you have to buy the cd set to even use it and you only get 30days to use it after that you have to pay. thats CRAP
Its not really X in general thats slow its Xfree86 (which really isnt that slow) you think X is slow you might wanna try Xmetro , you will be rather suprized.
Well linux is also about choice.. for example windows has maybe 2 versions of icq , just from apt-cache search icq , i get about 10 clients and thats just some of 'em.
www.winehq.com and read the faq , tells some reasons why linux would wanna run some windows binarys and another thing , can windows run linux binarys?... heh
too bad it cant do php , cgi , etc .. its just made for static files
