Cable networks are NEVER a monopoply.. They are given permission to offer cable service by the town/city by their government.. If you don't like it go to the cable franchise meeting and tell them what's going on and if the town/city sees that it's in the public interest to remove them or allow a second or third cable company in, they will do so. --
Most clocks loose time after a while, even digital ones.. Alot of it had to do with temp. I remember on the secret life of machines (god I wish that show was still on) they put one digital watch in a microwave and another in a fridge and left them there for a few hours.. When they pulled them out they were about a min. apart.
The time will drift.. it does on any computer. That's why things like NTP exsist.
Because some shows have national commercials that will run ANYWHERE.. so if say Earthlink ran that then the cable company can't block it with their own commercial.
Now for the spots that the cable company is allowed to fill with their advertising, I don't see a problem with this at all..
I understand the add on.. but they way that my quote reads it seems like his old GB had a backlight... I just wanted to see if anybody knew of a model with one.
"The screen is a 2.9" reflective TFT display that measures 40.8mm x 61. The screen isn't backlit, so you'll have to have an ample amount of light to be able to see the screen properly. I guess this means no more playing under the covers in the middle of the night! The maximum resolution is 240 x 160 pixels, and it can display 511 colours simultaneously, and up to 32,768 possible colors in total."
Did any of the gameboy models have a backlight? I know my first generation one didn't, and my nephew's Game Boy color doesn't...
Anyway, looks like a cool toy, once they get some good games out in may be time to upgrade from my Neo Geo Pocket Color.
In Talley v California (1960), three of the justices said "I stand second to none in supporting Talley's right of free speech -- but not his freedom of anonymity. The Constitution says nothing about freedom of anonymous speech."

Well they did sign an agreement
on
Launchcast Sued
·
· Score: 4
"The music lobbyist alleges that Launch's licenses with Universal, Sony, BMG and EMI do not allow for the level of interactivity and customization offered by LaunchCast, which allows users to decide how often they want to hear particular songs. After LaunchCast users rate songs, albums and artists, the service "learns" to play the types of music the user wants to hear."
Later on they say they are going to come to some kind of agreement. We don't know what they signed, so we can't really judge here. Lauch could have signed something that said that the user can't select what songs to play. This is NOT a case of copyright infridgement.
That would make sense if you were getting it without commercials from the local station. But since you're not using any of the local stations resources, just those of the people sending the feed to the local station.
Beta, VHS, SVHS, Betamax, 3/4" Tape, and various other analog tape formats are similar.. some are ETREALMLY similar, they just have differnt tape sizes, yet they all have different patent numbers.
So how is this different then what TiVo did? They used exsisting technologies and ideas and made them better/easier to use.
The only way to do this with a computer is to have two tuner cards and a TV out card because it says the ability to watch one program on your television while recording another on in MPEG format. Plus it does it all with a neat interface and it kinda hidden to the user. I have yet to see a decent TV recorder using a computer that works well. I found webvcr the other day, and there's some commercial packages, but they don't let me watch something and record something else.
"Based on their projections of unit sales of 500,000 and 750,000 units for this and next year, the savings in licensing expenses could be in the millions of dollars."
PocketPC (aka WindowsCE) JUST hit 1 million units (http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1006-200-6004696.html ?tag=mn_hd and they expect this obscure device that's just black and white with no email app to sell that many units in a year!? Not in this lifetime...

Except that an ISP isn't a Cable TV or a telephone service.
--
Then I see no problem with what they're doing..
--
except you can't really watch it on your TV easily.

- granted in 1994! the first one that this is based off of is 1990! There's patents on paper bags, and other very very simple stuff.
Who cares anyway, it's DiVX ;-) a better format anyway for this type of application?

If they have to you exchange's caladars to "work with their teammates" then they're going to have to use Outlook.. so they'll have to use Windows.
