Don't you understand man? You wanting to get out of Michigan as fast as you can, which has been the trend for highly educated students coming out of Michigan Universities, is a big reason for why Michigan is going down the tubes. If you really care about our state, you would stay and do your part in trying to bring back economic prosperity to the region. I for one am sick and tired of all my fellow college students ranting about how they want to escape Michigan as fast as they can... don't they feel some sort of responsibility or compassion for the state in which they were brought up?
First of all, you've got it ALL WRONG. I disagree with what you're trying to say, but I first have to address the fact that you're misunderstanding what Bill Gates is actually saying.
"My problem, I guess, is that I just can't bring myself to trust these folks any longer. They'll go for cheap over quality any day of the week- even when it means a 7 year delay in the next operating system only to have a bunch of GUI bells and whistles and no real new fixes or functionality."
He's against immigration policy. So why does he believe hiring immigrants is good for his company? Is it because he hates Americans? No. That's stupid, he is an American, and Microsoft has many American employees. Is it because he wants to pay less to his employees? No. These are immigrants, and they are getting pay comparable to people already living in this country. They are getting American wages, not Indian or Chinese wages.
"Translation- I made billions in this industry, but if you try to work your way up from intern in my company to my level I'll fire you and replace you with somebody who spent 1/10th your cost growing up and getting an education, regardless of skill, because it's better for my bottom line.
With attitudes like this among our upper class, can anybody blame high school kids for not going into computer science?"
I just explained how he is not saving money with these immigrants. You're also bringing up how these immigrants spent less money for their education in their respective countries.... that doesn't mean anything. They live in an impoverished country, maybe that means they deserve the job more? And the fact of price for education doesn't matter - getting a good education in the U.S. is far easier to attain than a good education in India. American has just so many more colleges. Since I've established that Bill Gates doesn't really prefer immigrants for being immigrants, we have to wonder why he says cutting off the immigrant supply is bad for this country.
The fact is that many of the immigrants coming are just plain smarter and have a better work ethic. What that means is that Bill Gates would hire an American if he had a higher or similar skill set and work ethic. The reason high school kids are not going as much into engineering and computer science is because of people LIKE YOU. Your false reasoning that companies have a bias against American students coming into the workforce is bull and is discouraging kids from pursuing these fields. The fact is that American kids have to compete in this flattening global workforce. Wherever you are in the world, you're gonna have to work your ass off to get a good tech job. This isn't the cold war where America was booming high over everyone else. Other countries are catching up and we will have to deal with it.
Exactly! The biggest pollution related to Computers is not from their use, it's from their PRODUCTION. In the process of making PCs, much toxic waste and harmful chemicals are released.

So you joined the military, an institution of violence? I'd say you have no clue.

You're right, knowing the classes and libraries for different languages is always so easy..... you are just born with it right?
What I'm trying to say is that any language, including php, can be manipulated to suit your needs with knowledge of the basic syntax. And like any language, when you want to take some shortcuts and make use of some helpful libraries (or php functions?), you will have to learn them.
The author is not suggesting that Apple shouldn't have announced the iPhone and let the FCC announce it instead... rather, he's arguing that it shouldn't of been the keynote product of MacWorld. Apple is safe with the iPhone, everyone knows that - the problem is with Apple TV etc. Apple should be promoting these not-very-well-known products as much as possible. I think the author would rather have seen Jobs, in the last five seconds, saying "By the way, did you hear about the iPhone" - have an iPhone show on the projector screen - and then "coming soon". The focus shouldn't be on the iPhone, it should be on the new products that at the moment don't have much market share. Smart phones are a safe bet, while TV from your comp is not.
Most parts of India do not have traffic signals etc., although I must admit that the cities are fully equipped with modern traffic signals. So anyways, the parts that do not have traffic signals still work fine, but drivers have to pay more attention to what they're doing. This increased element of forced attentiveness is what these governments are looking for, and just like in India, things might just might work out.
The problem in India is that getting a driver's license is much easier, and many drivers do not even have them. European governments have much stricter policies, so with increased attentiveness, they might just get safer roads.

Parc, not Apple, came up with the GUI. Don't confuse.
On the street I've heard that you can now unlock any phone from any carrier. http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?thread id=436627
IF that's true, then the iPhone is up for grabs for any carrier. :)
Remember dude.. it's $4 in Canadian dollars. To purchase pictures of American porn stars. God bless globalism.
