I think the reason that AM2 failed to impress is lame marketing. I have to tell you that I am in the IT industry and none of the people I polled nearby (including myself) knows AM2. But we all know Core 2 Duo and we were used to be AMD fans...
Pre-N is mainly a marketing game. How many of those in the general public is knowledgeable enough to know what "Pre-N" really means? And who cares when it "is" faster and still compatible with 11b/g?

Glad that I actually tried it on Lufthansa! It worked very well. I checked my mail, MSN'ed (with video), and even made Skype calls to buddies on the ground... and they were shocked ('cos I wasn't supposed to make a call at that time.)
And best of all, it was free 'cos they were giving away 30-min Free Trial cards at the airport. Seriously, I feel a bit sad to see such a good service to go away. Yep, I know the service is overpriced...
It seems that everybody is thinking Sony won't implement the idea. The fact that they cannot patent the very idea doesn't mean they can't go ahead and do it!
