Perhaps we should all just bring out own voting machines, then?:)

This, I don't understand. If you open a ".doc" in word 07, and save, it's saved as ".doc". In fact, if you open a ".doc", do a save as, and change the name, it will still default to ".doc".
Without changes, NEW documents will be created in ".docx" While this is annoying, it's pretty easy to change, too.
Allow each user to load their own software upon arrival, then record the results on paper;)
I can't think of many cases where you would like to mess up your OWN vote...
On a more serious note, why is there no rfc for voting by avian carrier?
Yes, it is possible to spoof a mac. Also, Mac addresses tend to be floating around in the air on wireless... alot;)
If you can associate with the access point, you (easily) can catch quite a few active MACs.
I don't, nor do wish to. All 3 TV shows that I actually watch are freely available over the air, and I have no interest in giving up more of my family time to the TV.
I don't know how you managed to score 0 on this. It's the truth.
That said, I don't see anything wrong with the review. My niece has one of these boxes and while, with a little help, it's been made to work reasonably well, it is defiantly not perfect. It's reliable, and it works, but it also has quirks which seem just as reliable.
All that said, it's not a bad first try, and with luck it will pan out into a quite usable system. Time will tell.
Many vendors offer a plan for this, where they will honor warrenty and (for a fee) allow you to keep the failed disk. Several of my customers make use such offerings.
I know that no one around here reads the article, but you might note it comments on seat back computers, not offering wifi service on the plane, so it seems that getting voip to work against the airlines wishes might be a bit more challenging than most here foresee.
One of the channels I'm in had one of these bots. It's a small channel, about 20 users, but the nick was quite intelligently chosen. I don't know if this is a coincidence or if there was thought into it, but the nick was an interesting play on one of the other nicks in channel, and thus hung around for quite some time.
I don't know about all the other channels, but thats one small piece of my experience.
Particularly in a support environment, the stuff that happens when you are not there can be just as important as what happens when you are.
I don't know if I'd call it "the norm" not to log out of irc, but it's quite common.
Couple things here...
hiding your mask is quite possible on freenode, and can be done in a few minutes time upon request. As far as irseek on efnet, they are not using tor there as far as I've seen and not attempting to hide their hostname, either. I'd say that does point towards the use of tor being an evasion tactic rather than a hostmask hiding tactic, since they haven't attempted to hide hostmasks elsewhere.
Thinkpads rock. They're all we use at work, and we have a 3 year replacement policy (our consultants get a new one every 3 years, when the warrenty runs out). The old ones come back for use in training sessions, and better than 90% of them are still in good shape after 3 years of use on the road.
I won't say they never break or have problems, but the support experience is good enough that I don't hear about it, either:)
It's very silly.
see this
Dell is clearly offering XP at time of purchase. So is lenovo, although that link doesn't seem to survive pasting. I didn't bother to check with HP or any other vendors but it seems there are quite a few current laptops available with XP out of the box.
I've never had signal problems in NYC or the Philadelphia metro area, with the exception of certain large datacenters and as you said, basements. I don't have an iphone though, either, so I don't know how this would fare there.
I suspect it's not just not wanting unsightly cell towers. Given that the UK pop density is 246 per square km and the US is 31 per square km,(accodring to wikipedia) it seems the folks in the US are just a tad bit more spread out...

Yes! It only causes it! Of course, you could use that to detect frustration. one of the checks could be a simple "is firefox running"

On windows, at least, you can set the printer port to "file" to save the printout. It's not human readable, but there may be software to read it. http://www.access-one.com/rjn/computer/print-to-file.html for more info.

it's possible that it's because they are actually spending R&D dollars that others don't have. Unlikely, I know. But possible.
and these are just the cases where he was actually accused of a crime!
Dunno. The light bulb in my fridge has been out for going on two years, anyway ;)
more minicity crap
They are also behind LAST years mathematicians. Although by a bit shy of a year. http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/12/27/0350218

It's that the network is dedicated to supporting and promoting FOSS, not that the networks code is FOSS (although it is).

Replace "right hand" with "my son" and "left hand" with "me" and you might have a more accurate analogy.
