    exactly. i did support for a small accounting firm, anyone here felt the pain ofgoing from quickbooks 05,06 to 2008 ... omg that sucked. i had bought them a cheap prepackaged nas box from newegg, around $200. then in the QB2008 documents it says specifically not to do this, 4x the network overhead. so i looked around for online storage. and i have a question related to the lawyer theme, if the data is encrypted in the online storage place, evan if they were to be subpoena'd what would they get ? unusable encryped data chunks. but back to the point, second that about onsite and paper. burn copies to cd or something ok. but mozy is cheap, like $5/month. how is that hard to justify?

    which is exactly why right now i'm enrolled in a Red Hat course @ ECU. i was previously taught c++ in msvs2008, but i know gcc and eclipse and others work just fine. yes, i will have to take a microsoft server course, but this school is alot more linux friendly than most places. vote with feet and $$. thats why i am here, one of few red hat certifying schools.

    and yet, with water, thats the same thing they did.\ metric freeze, 0, boil 100... seems the standard is set from observing natural phenomenon, not arbitrarily picking a unit then arbitrarily measuring temp in it.

    don't need to get all huffy. here is a ford car that gets 73mpg. http://gas2.org/2008/09/09/new-fiesta-gets-73-mpg-but-ford-says-its-not-for-the-us/ just cannot get it in the states. also seem to recall that volvo in 2010 is coming out with a 60+ diesel , but not over here in the states. so current tech ( well 2010 anyway) there is 2 examples of 60+ mpg cars that are in production. so why can;t chevy, toyota, hona or the others do it and bring it to the states?

    i think it was quantum with bigfoot, then the "deathstars", then maxto then wd now seagates. last several years i leaned heavily towards seagate. with heavy anecdotal evidence, like 100 users, 400 computers with various drives. i WILL AVOID seagate in the next buying round. looks like wd just made some money.

    no but i use handbrake alot, and for that 1 program i am planing/saving for a quadcore something. (intel or amd not sure, using amd right now.) so yes, 1 program can be enough to some.

    no stupid, u have to call, or over the internet, every week, say that you were job searching. everyone on unemployment has to do it. this isn't just about job searches on their site or just random calls to the office.

    same here, almost. i have 2 legit copies in my cd folder. i spent all day with nlite burning copies with different drivers for the sata controller. i finally just used the pirate copy i have, it install 95% of my driver, and loads of software after the fact i use. how was 45 min loading pirate easier than all day with no floppy and no way to use the legit copy better ?

    welcome to 1984, orwell is calling. if they are tracking you milage by gps, how much of a stretch is it say the also know exactly where you are, all the time. visit the bar on probation, tha'ts a spankin'. and plenty of other ways your privacy will be broken. no thanks.

    my last job in the usmc, i did tech support for all of the whole squadron. our inventory system was a program inside an old os running in a vm on and old hp ux box, custom built. the unix box was from early 80's, the older os i was told was from the 60's. thats when i had to lead unix calls, we had 2 pages of commads to get, grep, copy etc... to make the daily report.

    i suggest to a client to add a usb external hard drive. well it worked for like 2 days. he handed it to me and said make it work. i took it apart, after it not showing up after i plugged it in. pushed power, with the drive sorta dangleing to the side, pcboard side out. about a half second later the same thing happened to me, caught fire. flames comming from the bigger chip on the hard drive. i couldnt reach aount to get the power cord out fast enough. glad to see im not the only one this has happened to.
