yeah.... i replaced vista on my laptop with ubuntu. before it would run at 1005 in sleep or hibernate mode, battery would be dead in no time. switching from wired to wireless was a PITA. and, something was broken as word would only accept and process around 6 letter/min. on Ubuntu, sleep and hibernate work great. it even powers off the windows vm before the battery drains out and it powers off. and switching wired/wiress is about as fast and i can unplug the cable. ps: i only have a windows vm because i have a class that requires a specific plugin for excel 2008.
ok he sued him for "tortious interference" .
wikepedia: "Tortious interference, also known as Intentional interference with contractual relations, in the common law of tort, occurs when a person intentionally damages the plaintiff's contractual or other business relationships. This tort is broadly divided into two categories, one specific to contractual relationships (irrespective of whether they involve business), and the other specific to business relationships or activities (irrespective of whether they involve a contract)."
so how exactly did he interfere with any such contract? and what contract? most states are right to work, so it not likely an employment contract.
under typical examples on wikipedia: "Tortious interference of business.- When false claims and accusations are made against a business or an individual's reputation in order to drive business away."
the keyword there is fasle claims, but the underpinnings here are the truth.
i r confused. is it 1984 already?
i seem to remember from cyberlaw class that the truth was always a defense to a libel case. If, in fact he did tell the truth, and he lost this should be an interesting read.
related - a year ago i bout an i7 to replace a phenom II. my dvd rip times just in handbrake for the same setting went down maybe 20-30 min. that was worth it at the time, as i was on the 3 disk plan.
i cannot find a link right now, but i seem to remember from Western Civ. class, that as the number of laws went up, the amount of crime went up. to the point that, the eqivilant to police were using laws to punish who ever the did not like, not all criminals. similar to whats going on now with the RIAA/MPAA, going after a small % of the population. Now you need a lawyer just to sell your hard work.
i have a similar setup to op, ubuntu + samba. i have an
asus o!play
it plays all the files i have ripped in both.avi and.mkv, and some of the newer.flv from youtube. the only big gotcha was i had to lower the security on the samba settings. evan plays the 14gb bd rip of dark knight no hickups. and your usual pics and music etc...
first, i agree they don't have the power to take (the fine of)$100 or some such, and force us into rigid health care plans.
the point though, is they are. will this be tied up in court for years? will there be a revolt? or is the us pop. sheeple and we will just bend over and take another hit. simply being a lie or illogical does not seem to matter to congress any more. they do what they want with nothing to stop them.
except, with those 2 at odds, and the riaa/mpaa with buckets more money than you or i,who do you think would survive the court case? it would drag on for years if you could afford that.
yeah except the part lots of other people here have mentioned, where the contract specifically said to the mayor only. so he did exactly what he should have.
i agree.. i think if nothing else MS should make a front end for X11, so you could choose gnome, kde, windows(of some sort), etc. also i think MS should consider something like what apple did, and novell, something unix underneath, something else on top. but for them to tuck tail and do this would be great in tech terms but unlikely. or if ms wasnt so mean to protocols nad such like they have been in the past for samba and email.
but we still have to worry about intel bullying manufacturers like dell into using intel only.
the dropping the lawsuit, 5 year no fire period is good though...
couple of thoughts, http://www.fairtax.org/PDF/FairTax-Fundamentals_and_facts-070122.pdf,

"The FairTax dramatically improves the U.S. economy. " page 7
also considering the prebate that gets added in, the lower end of the incom spectrum looks pretty good.
alot of the 'fat' people you see with the handicapped placards, have them because thier knees are shot, or about to go.
my mom has a thyroid problem, is overweight, not from overeating, and she cannot walk very far without her knees giving out. i know of 2 other people in this situation. i know 1 anecdot != fact, but i would wager this is the case with the majority of overweight people. so before you fat-bash, did you consider that maybe, just maybe they cannot walk that far?
except that now, going from win2k/xp to vista/7 is about the same amount of relearning to go to gnome. if you have to relearn.. sometimes go free never come back.
i hop you mean SWAT! if they send you their swap file .. hmmmm

one minor point. your sandy bridge is a quad, this article is about a hexa-core. that alone is a significant difference.

in soviet-amerika, Goldman Sachs robs you ?
i usually try decrypter first then fab. i can only remember 1 or 2 disk out of thousands that i haven't been able to enjoy that way.
the point was, that if realDVD goes away, not the mpaa will be looking for the next target with $$, ie. anydvd.

no mod points so here is your +1 funny

i had a friend who worked airframes for c-130s, one day he told me found bullets/bullet/holes from the korean war during maintenance.
you might try this lifehacker assuming you can get to a gui based browser like ff or konqueror.

i don't know if this counts because its "only undergrad" but i choose the school im at now specifically because of the degree path i am in. computer security, with a another major in networking. and considering throwing in criminal justice for and extra 2 classes. look here http://www.tecs.ecu.edu/departments/technology_systems/undergraduate_programs/information_and_computer_technology/plan_of_study/
