"And D-Wave told BBC News the tests set by the scientists were not the kinds of problems where quantum computers offered any advantage over classical types."
"Thus, Canada-based D-Wave Systems drew scepticism when, in 2011, they started selling their machines, which appeared to use a non-mainstream method known as adiabatic quantum computing."

But on a more serious note, I would take this supposed quantum computing performance setback with a grain of salt. I did a little math, its no where near perfect but its a rough estimate.

using an arbitrary cost per kilowatt hour of lets say 10 cents (nice even number) that works out to $20000/$0.1 = 200000kwh per year. We can then divide that by 365 to get 547.95kwh per day. Then divide that by 24 to get 22.8kwh used every hour. So that is a 22.8kw load. To figure out the load we divide 22800/120 to get 190 amps worth of 120V load. So a rack full of servers pulling 120V at 5 amps each (a 600 watt guesstimate) would come out to around 38 servers. And it looks like they have about 28 servers plus networking equipment in the rack so the numbers come somewhat close. Its not 36 servers but adjusting the cost per kwh would certainly impact the load estimate a lot. Upping the cost to 15 cents per kwh would bring the load down to 15.22kw. That would mean about 25 servers worth of load. But again I threw in 600W load for each server. Some might draw less some might draw more.

So the numbers jive with the rough estimate.

The only way to break the cycle of ignorance is to have more intelligent black and Hispanic celebrities or people of influence denounce and criticize it through campaigns. The only two I can think of the top of my head are Bill Cosby and Chris Rock. Cosby is balked at by the black community for telling the truth. And Chris Rock did it halfheartedly using satire in his comedy act. But I don't blame famous black celebs for trying to break the cycle because it can be an instant end to their careers.

We need people like Neil deGrasse Tyson to be looked at by young black children as a hero and role model and not brainless trash like Kanye West or Lil Wayne. "PS Programs like SNAP, WIC and EBT generally reduce crime and you fools just cut it."

It does and it doesn't. WIC, EBT and SNAP benefits single mothers with children and other disabled people. But very often those services often help nurture the "ghetto family". Basically an irresponsible woman has multiple children from multiple men. She finally has enough kids to live comfortably without a job and eventually a man (often one of her baby daddy's) sees the perfect opportunity: free living! Since the woman will settle for any man willing to put up with her and her kids the leech will happily move in to her welfare paid apartment and eat welfare paid meals. So he gets a nice free ride. And with so much free time on his hands he can no go out and mingle with the other respectable family men in his neighborhood. Often the man needs a little money on the side and knows damn well that work is for suckers. So he turns to dealing drugs and other criminal activities to give him some pocket money. He of course is still screwing more women on the side but he doesn't care because he has his sugar momma waiting at home. What happens when his sugar momma's welfare money dries up? Well duh! He has been screwing women the whole time and has a trail of kids. One of those women is bound to have a brood of young children he can leech off of. Plus he can wave around a bit of his ill gotten cash to lure her in. So he leaves the now former sugar momma for another and the cycle repeats.

Some people will find this racist. It isn't. Its a sad truth that no one wants to hear. So they plug their ears while shouting racism! And I have witnessed it first hand through a few families I know. Its sad when you see children growing up in a household where their siblings all have different men who aren't around and no one is actively encouraging them to break the cycle. Everyone is uneducated and frustrated in life because they have nothing to show for it. The men often only have their street cred to show off which keeps the cycle of violence going.

The solution is simple: education. Though this has to start at home with at least one caring parent. And often the parents are so ignorant and uncaring that they are useless.

Its a double edged sword. (TL;DR: anon reviews are crap. Go to your local government agency that regulates said business for a better review, by inspectors.)

On one side you have the ability to voice your opinion about a business or product. Maybe I really liked your pizza or that death ray I bought vaporized my neighbors noisy kids without a trace, 5 stars! Or maybe your establishment looks like it hasn't been cleaned since it opened in 1984 and saw your cook picking his nose while he was cooking (I actually saw this in a Chinese restaurant by me a few years back, never ate there again), 1 star. Those things are worthy of an honest review.

On the other side its an invitation for abuse. I know of a business who had a former disgruntled employee leave a string of negative feedback on Google. A local pizza place by me had a one star review on yelp that read "Walked in and the food looked like it was sitting out all day. turned around and walked out". Seriously? How did that person know that it was sitting out all day? They left a purely subjective opinion not based on anything which impacts the establishments reputation.

You know what the best review site is? Your local Health department. They may have a website that lists violations of local food establishments. The best example was a pizza joint around the corner from me. They blocked out their windows and hung a sign that read "Closed for renovation, We will reopen bla bla bla." Okay so I start looking up the number for another nearby pizza place and stumble onto the health department's website violation listing for the place I was looking for. The violations weren't bad, mostly citations for inadequate lighting and cracked tiles. I got curious and checked the rating for the closed for renovation pizza joint. WTF. Turns out they weren't closed for renovation, they were closed by the department of health for a laundry list of violations including disgusting ones like mice droppings on food and cockroaches in the kitchen. I never went back there again (not the one from my previous anecdote). In New York City they have a health department rating system that forces a food establishment to post a letter grade rating in their front window for everyone to see. You have a clean kitchen and follow proper procedures for food prep - you get an A. Then there is B and C. Beyond that you are forced to close. Nasty pizza is still open and has a B rating.

If you are a contractor and you screw up my rugs then I call the department of consumer affairs who most likely issued you your business license. This might not work in all parts of the country or world but try to go to your local government agency who regulates the business or establishment. Much more effective as they can levy fines, liens or revoke licenses. That will scare an owner more than a hundred one star yelp reviews as the consequences are much more real.

I never use Yelp or any other rating service for food. If I don't like your food I won't order from you again. Maybe I don't like the way you cook it but everyone else does. That means you stay in business. If your food is genuinely crap then no one eats/orders from your establishment. And that means you go out of business. And that is the way it's supposed to work.

    (PS)
By no means are government ratings free of corruption, bribery or an inspector with a grudge but they are quite often much more revealing about the quality of a buisness than someones pointless opinion.
