I would like a reverse doppler sound, when coming close sound like going away and viceversa. Probably will be something that must be activated when i want to surprise someone.else whatever sound i would make will have its own doppler.
Wouldn't the actual doppler effect cancel out your reverse doppler? Then it would just sound like a car revving a motor, standing still. Man that's confusing.
Raleigh's NC Museum of Natural Sciences has the most complete (by far) Acrocanthosaurus skeleton on display. The quality of exhibits, in my opinion, rivals that of many I've seen. It's worth a visit to their website:

I don't know if anyone's mentioned Wyneken...

It is LaTex, but made easy. Made very easy.
It's managed by a co-worker and friend of mine, so I may be biased. But he's done some exceptional work with it (including many internal manuals here at Red Hat).
So check it out. He is a big KDE fan, so it's made the transition to QT 4 recently and it looks fabulous.

I recently bought two Inspiron 1420s from Dell with Ubuntu 7.10 loaded. (one for me and one for the wife). I love it. It's a great notebook, especially when you throw in the coupons you can find online.
On top of the fact that it came with legal DVD support and buttons premapped, it was $50 cheaper. So I am not sure where you are seeing the problem of more expensiive.
Even more so, as said previously, I was guaranteed hardware support.
Lastly, even if you don't want Ubuntu or the flavor they install (I work for a prominent N. American OSS company), I was guaranteed Fedora 8 and 9 would work due to the fact that Ubuntu 7.10 works. So you'd be able to wipe whatever version they send you with whatever you want and it should work.:)
Not to pull an advertisement, but our desktops (even our $299.99 ones), feature a 3-year standard warranty that includes 100% Linux support assuming you're using the version of Linux we installed when we ship it to you.
We will support you with driver issues, gui problems, software issues and other things as long as it's designed for the OS we have installed (Currently Ubuntu or Fedora).
Again, I'm not trying to pull an advertisement here--but my point is that our company obviously 100% supports Linux and I know we're far from the first. (And we are proud to say we support the GPL and other open-licenses)
I think you just have to do some looking, support companies that do what you want (I am an avid nvidia fan for how good their tech support treated me over the phone with me running linux. They called me back and offered to fix my problem for free if I shipped my PC to california). Support those companies and others will have to follow suit if they want your business. If they don't want your business, why buy their products?
I run a computer shop (co-owner) and would be thrilled to have a tech oriented youth working with me. Even if it were just for a day or two a week, that would work out great. I'm sure your small computer shops would be happy to at least offer you a one day a week internship in the least!
These kind of places are where you'll learn the real hands on stuff--unlike your Best Buy's and CompUSA's like you indicated with the iPod comment.
Of course, this only deals with troubleshooting and building computers, but it is a definite addition to your resume!
ps--If you're going to be in the triad of NC (plenty of good schools here, Wake Forest, NC A&T, UNC-Greensboro) feel free to contact me, I'll have something for ya!
Hmmmmm....I usually don't care one bit about grammar as mine is terrible. My degree is in Literature, not grammar. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone with a degree in grammar.
I just find the idea that people would pay for college, then say that a professor is unnecessary ridiculous. So I guess it was a jab? Again, I made a mistake and owned up to it. Calm down.:)
yeah, i realized the error of my post about a second after i hit post. I'm even have a degree in English. It's one of those moments when you have been up too late and something looks funny. I would have responded sooner but/. wants me to wait 2 mins...:(
sorry 'bout that

Stupider? Sounds like you learned a lot in English...
I have an HP printer that won't pick up the Windows drivers on any machine I put it on. Works perfectly with Linux. :)
