This is a simple function of the personal cost of time available vs perceived reward. I'm betting you no longer have as much spare time as you used to so games have to be very rewarding to compete with the other things in your life. That's a rare thing after you seen a lifetime of computer games already. Like a toddler with on Christmas Day with new toy, sometimes the box is more fun.:)
And own up, how many emulated games have you loaded up only to go 'nice, it works' then move on the next one...
They would rather material didn't appear in countries other than the U.K. since they don't pay the license fee. Everyone else has to pay either via cable channels or by buying the DVD content yourself. The money goes back to the BBC to make more programmes for us in the U.K. to watch. More Top Gear, yay!
If this system didn't exist, the license fee would inevitably go up. We Brits get ripped off enough already thank you very much...
The Chinese would have Russian/Iranian/North Korean (military) support after an action like that. There's no way Americans would win that war. What a mess that would be...
I hate it when people complain about heavily compressed masters. Actually it can add to the character of the music if it's the particular sound you're looking for. Because the behaviour of the a limiter/compressor is transient, the levels of the different components of the track react to each other as the overall volume changes. This can help 'gel' the sounds together and sounds especially good on electronic music with the right kit. Too much of this is known as 'pumping' and can sound crappy though.
Just someone likes progressive rock with a wide dynamic range doesn't mean the rest of us should have to cope with it. Having massively varying levels makes the task of a DJ more difficult too as having the volumes of both tracks consistent is quite important.
the act of teaching while learning tends to reinforce the learning
This is true but I wonder if there's a little more too it than that. Perhaps for some things the older kid actually has to figure things out for himself. If he directly teaches his siblings then the younger ones don't experience as much 'learning to learn'. Just a thought...
I've heard it said that the eldest child gets the brains, the middle child gets the sneakiness, and the youngest child gets the cuteness.
Amazing, this describes me and my brothers more than a little. And I'm the eldest.:) The middle one is more stealthy than sneaky and my youngest brother would prefer 'handsome' instead of 'cute'...
What nut-job modded this troll?
Well most of the time anyway.
Many people also care about factors like power consumption, small size, low price and low noise
I'm not sure if you are buying a graphics card or a wife.
"desktop searches you!" Hehe, that's funny. One of the better X Y's you gags I've seen in a while.
The register is British. We value pronunciation highly here.
Only the good stuff. I bet you can't televisual gems such as Car Booty or Bargain Hunt on ThePirateBay.org.
I'm going to f***ing kill google!
Hehe, down with the Nanny State!

Well if Wine can cope with the quagmire that is XP apps then surely...
Hmm. How exactly would they stop China from achieving this if that's what they wanted to do?

Chicken's don't post on Slashdot. I don't know if that makes them better or worse than us.
Thanks for putting that armchair revolutionary straight. :)
Fun to read too. I like selecting the words that are least offensive to my sensibilities. :)
Maybe we should combine the mass of the mars and the moon by crashing them into each other. :P
Perhaps it's immoral to terraform Mars. I mean, shouldn't we be preserving it for future generations or something? :)
You may be thinking of a dead horse. Being whipped.
You're about to observe a quantum state. Cancel and allow?

I have to read my mail somehow, you know, it's not like I see the login page and leave satisfied.
With all the spam I have to deal with, I think I'd leave more satisfied just with the login page.
and three holes in my underwear.
What does the third one do?
