I posted this in another thread but again, from hardocp.com
Comments that looked like they were from Pat Moorhead on an Aussie Web site are not from Pat Moorhead, the firm has just told us.In fact, according to an AMD UK representative, AMD's Opteron products will run any kind of content in the future -- contrary to the report in The Age, on which our original report, below, was based.
Part of the content in The Age failed to distinguish between comments Moorhead made and conjecture, AMD said. AMD, in fact, claims it is the "good guy", and even though it is a member of the "trusted computing" initiative, will allow users to opt in whether to use this type of technology or not. "There is nothing [in Hammer] that could actually prevent a user running unlicensed content," the representative from AMD said MM.

Is to come up with a solution that gives us the best of both worlds
That somehow appeases copyright holders, but still lets you do anything else. The basic idea is that you can still play it use if it is not signed, but shit that is signed is restricted somehow that is still falling in fair use land
Obviously, there is a market out there right now for DRM. If there wasn't even a tiny market, MS would not be tossing its weight around.
So, instead of dragging our feet, why arent we comming up with a better DRM solution? One that takes care of medical documents, etc - things that aren't art, etc. and even gives a sense of security to the music people, w/o infringing on fair use rights?
It can be done and the linux world has the talent to do it.
ALSO - If a group could QUICKLY get a DRM OS even in a shoddy developmental state, then MS's patent would be null and void.
To blame Red Hat for the current US Linux Desktop share is totally illogical. There have to be more contributing factors, such as US BASED MICROSOFT on why the desktop share is where its at...
I think Redhat should have done this a long time ago for now I don't see how MS could blow the desktop market unless our friend Pal is as bad as some people think it will be.
Linux needed to be ready for prime time before the roll out of win2k to have gained real market share.
Look at AMD. When Intel hit its lumps, AMD was ready to capitalize. When MS has hit their LUMPS and lumps and lumps, Linux has not been exactly poised to capitalize.
This seems to be the step in the right direction, I just think that a simple check box on install could take care of anyone's questions about this.
By default, the redhat theme, unles on install you say otherwise!
I started using Ximian the day it came out, and I enjoyed it. Then, I realized it ate a lot of my menus that RedHat or I had installed and didnt play very nice in letting me re-add them. Sadly, Ximian really locks down the menus to just a few programs, which can be a real pain in the ass when you still know of only 1 way to do things.
Wichita State: Dont ever go down this road, it is a bad bad idea. I pay to live here, and I should get to do with MY data as I please on a line I pay for. Blocking ICMP is damn near bad enough, but I can deal.
I have really limited web experience but I have a simple need.
Basically, pdf files are generated in a directory. I need a user to be able to see all pdfs in that directory, be able to 'delete' the one he needs after he downloads it, and have the file really be deleted after 48 hours of being marked as for delete
I have *no* idea how to do this, but what little ive looked at says I need php
Would php be able to cover all of this, and if yes, would this book tell me how to do this?
Or should I learn another programing language first?
The more and more I read about the people at MIT, the less and less I am suprised about articles like this. From the numerous pranks, to the vegas article, to the general I go to MIT, I am above everyone else attitude that exists amongst 99% of the student population - simple copyright theft doesn't seem too far fetched.
Smart enough to get into MIT, not smart enough to realized copyright theft, or the consequences of actions... sand, lamp, gun
> charge my EV1 in the parking garage at work every day. I have a charger at home too, but I seldom have to use it. UCSD has installed chargers on campus.
Ive looked around today and no where around here can I receive this treatment:>4: Small. I like big cars, or better yet Trucks. You cant have an electric Truck - it just makes no sense unless you haul barbie furniture
>Really now, how often do you haul stuff around, vs just yourself?
Actually, I use my truck quite often. This week alone it hauled a bed, a tv, a fridge. Yes, more days out of the year I don't use it but when I do use it, Im glad to have it. I probably put something in there (like wood) at least once a week that I couldn't in my car.
BUt others have addressed this topic saying they have managed to get good working electric trucks due to the better torque.
" As for the size of cars... I just came from the land of the VW Beetle, Mexico. There are millions of tiny VW bugs in Mexico city, and the air there is so bad you can get Hep. A just from breathing it. I think I saw 4 SUVs in 6 weeks in Mexico, but yet even in Puebla where VW small cars rule, the air is getting worse by the day. "
As for Govt taxes... they tax you on your bike with sales tax. Some states requires licenses for bike riders, so a tax there. You can't avoid taxes, so be happy you have at least representation to go along with them.
I hope the quality of these Palms is top-notch. I have $300 in service plan at best buy and they no longer carry my model :
(My palm has issues syncing these days and the cell phone just sucks at reception, who the hell knows whats up with that)
If they (MS) put it in the EULA that they can do this (which fuck, they already have) then you are pretty much fucked.

The problem is that rh patched openssl and called it 0.9.6b-28 instead of just going to 6e or whatever
so when I did rpm -q and saw I was still in 6b land I was kinda worried
I have OpenSSL installed cause I was trying to do SSL Certs for Freeswan
Well, let us just hope this never catches on
but I dont have much help
Thats the IDEA

The point is to write a DRM OS that does NOT take away the rights of people! There has to be a way to do this...

Will I still see USC FTPs running, etc?

I sent that reply to the wrong thread
and I run up2date regularly but as I see I am still on 0.9.6b-28, even though up2date says I have nothing to update
That is fucking stupid
What if I have to check other people's boxen? What if I was out of town for 3 mo and had no computer access?
God damn, nice attitude
How can you tell if your box has been hit with this?
If yes, how do you clean it up?
Woah

To combat ignorance might I say that if you slipstream the sp1
ie
servicepack.exe -s:C:\extractedwinxpcd\i386
then do a repair install or just reinstall
you are fine with any key
or you can change your key with tools easily found on google to a legit generated key
Still on the first page none the less
yet, they wont post that video games are banished in greece?
$200 is pretty fucking cheap for something like this ?
