1. See if you can find a single electric car plug in Wichita, KS
2. I drive an average 30 miles a day, with many days above that. Quite often I need to make a trip thats well over 50 miles away on a tech car. Quite frankly, its just not for ME - but I feel there are a lot of others that it is not for, and thus the failure and un-plug.
4. I guess I was mis-informed about the power of these electrics. My understanding was that due to their economic nature, all electric vehicals on the market were lacking in the get-up-and-go that I expect from a HQ v8 engine or even a v6.
I don't have a home to charge it at, just my dorm parking lot.
As for how many miles? On a given day with tech calls, me and my car or truck can go well over 60 miles sadly.
Some days, a majority probably, less then 30 - but I have my 100+ mile days
As for my safety, merging into 65mph doing 30 IS NOT SAFE, period.
As for the size of cars... I just came from the land of the VW Beetle, Mexico. There are millions of tiny VW bugs in Mexico city, and the air there is so bad you can get Hep. A just from breathing it. I think I saw 4 SUVs in 6 weeks in Mexico, but yet even in Puebla where VW small cars rule, the air is getting worse by the day.
And why is it you diss nuclear power? It is very clean and very efficient. Yuca mountain will gladly store what relatively little waste there is for years to come.
Well I just used my big F150 to haul a bed, a fridge and a TV to my dorm room The week before I was hauling wood I chopped I tend to use my truck at least once a week to haul SOMETHING that won't fit in a car for either myself or someone I know.
Even If I wasn't, I like knowing that I can. I want that freedom.
My fiance is in a computer class for nursing students. She would skip it, but she wants the easy 3 hours of 4.0 to boost the GPA. She has had one class and already she is ready to shoot the lady. Some key phrases:
Once you switch to Cox [High Speed Internet] you will never go back to the Internet!
The reason all these computers [windows boxes] are slow is because they all run off one CPU!
She told me there were more, but she was busy trying to electrocute herself to get out of class...
Is it possible that I can just have moz run on X start up, AND THATS IT? I have a box thats not very heavy that needs to have NYSE.com on at all times but I dont want the overhead of panel, etc. etc. etc. How the hell can I get just moz to run??
My highschool (private) had quite the Math Program. I never had problems in Algebra, Algebra II, or Pre-Calc. (Nor Geometry and Trig). However, when I hit Calc in college, it seemed as though my math ability hit a brick wall. Up until that point, I never had a single problem with math, concepts, etc. Everything came really naturally (including mind math, I can't give you horribly complex, but I seem to do better then all of my peers). Calc ate my cookie and made me go from a CS major to a Spanish Major. I am taking Math 111 because its the only required math class for a LAS degree. I took the placement exam in 10 minutes and got more then enough right to qualify(I would have gotten more, but I forgot a few things in the 2 years since a math class).
So, in a semester I will be able to tell you how well one University does...
PS - My university has an issue. Namely foreginers teach Math. I have nothing against anyone's nationality. However, if there is one accent that I can not understand, it is the Apu'ish middle-eastern accent that populates the halls of the Math building. For weeks I thought they had a meth lab in the building, then I realized no - it was a math lab. Again, nothing against foreginers -- but I want a profesor who I can understand. If english was my second language, I could take special ESL classes where they slow it down for me. However, I have just as hard of a time understanding a prof with a BAD pakistani accent as a mexican does with a british accent. (I speak English and Spanish, start Italian this semester I hope, and will eventually learn French as well, so I fear not language, just accents that are HORRIBLE.)
I am consistantly amazed (im easily entertained) by the popularity of WiFi. 11mbit seems relatively slow, the distance seems limited, the spectrum limited, and the security also seems limited (although, it doesn't have to be). Despite these setbacks, I hear WiFi storys day in and day out. Now, if I can just get a super booster antena, stick it out my 6th floor door window, and have campus wide coverage, ill be happy:P
What is making WiFi so popular? Incredible price reduction?
Is he saying its okay for rich groups to buy laws then? Its bad for the one and only group that would say anything, to actually say something? I, like probably every other/. reader just wanna say thats BS.
Aye, just makes ya wanna move to zanzabar and start taking opium rectally
When the P4 came out I had to stop and say to myself, "Self, what the hell." I understood the engineering logistics of why we had more MHz and slower actual speed, IPC, LBC, IHOP, etc. But, a side of me said Intel marketing people put on the bunny suits and hit the clean room and said hey, just give us more MHz.
But I got over it, what is wrong with these people? I smell money grubbers.
Quite frankly, AMD should step up to the plate with Intel on this and so should every other CPU maker incase this ever comes back on them. Esp. AMD with their current PR 1900+ lingo. Check out Ars's coverage of this story where you see what I have seen, the lacky sales clerk saying No no, 1900+ means 1.9 GHz, even though the sign says different.
SAN FRANCISCO--Sun Microsystems began selling its first general-purpose Linux servers this week, but Bill Joy, Sun's chief scientist and a pioneer in designing Unix, has voiced doubts about Linux's open-source underpinnings.
Lets see if anyone notices...

Rat Mind Control
·
· Score: 2, Insightful
From the article: "It's one thing to see a rat running around like this, people don't get too emotional about that, but as soon as you get into dogs or work animals, people start getting real excited," he said.
I can see it now. Farmers having livestock (cows, horses, etc.) implanted with these devices so all they have to do is throw a switch and they are automatically commanded to come back to the barn for feeding / milking / slaughter / whatever. Add a GPS receiver, a livestock_id for each animal, and some software.
Or, use this to make sure that Man's Best Friend stays within the yard or comes back to you when out for a run at the park How about adding a small microphone and a clock so Spot is commanded to Not Bark At Night so you (and the neighbors!) can get some sleep?
I'm certain there are some people who would think these are Great Ideas ®
The immediate downside I see is there is no feedback loop. What if the AUC (Animal Under Control) breaks a leg, gets a deep cut, is threatened by a predator, or is otherwise incapacitated? The controller (human or automated) is unaware of this and keeps sending commands to "GO THIS WAY!!!" Shudder. I sure hope society works out the ethical considerations well before they overcome the technical limitations! Just because we can doesn't mean we should!
Sure, the expense is prohibitive, now. But there are some people for whom the expense is no object. The price of computers and other electronics have plummeted over the years. Power consumption requirements have dropped dramatically, too. I can well imagine that in 10 or so years, it would be possible to do this cheaply and easily.
So, if some day I wake up in a bathtub full of ice with a note beside me... instead of it saying my kidneys have been removed it'll say a remote control has been implanted in my brain. Let the urban legends begin! =)

I just got back from Mexico and in a lot of parts I visited, the best I could get is a 12oz bottel. Even in puebla most common was 600ml. This drove me crazy. I need a lot to quench my thirst on a hot day and its not like I can just turn on the faucet down there.
Also, I doubt that more then 1% of the/. crowd has ever worked outdoors, yet alone in a construction type job, where you pick up 64oz QT cup and its your drink for the rest of the morning. When you are lifting and actually WORKING and not working on an ass imprint, then I bet the upgrade from 64oz to 80oz of energy punch would be welcomed!
I phrased that poorly. What I ment was that I always thought id save the most power by hitting off on the monitor and it turns out id save more by unplugging all that stuff.
However, my LCD monitors do have a brick. Go figure.

I was thinking for myself, for if Im going to spend that kind of money on a vehical, thats who I need to be thinking about
...
I beleive he was as well, for he said I
He would never drive one on the highways
Go right ahead if you want to!
I know that I would never buy an electric car for a multitude of reasons...
1: How am i going to charge it in my parking lot at work? at my dorm?
2: It just wont get me very far here in Kansas
3: Lack of speed. When I need to merge, I need to get up and GO damn it.
4: Small. I like big cars, or better yet Trucks. You cant have an electric Truck - it just makes no sense unless you haul barbie furniture

Close actually
two clarifying points
1: What about when the login is not gui, its text, so they already have logged in, and normally just run startx ?
2: Any idea how to add the height width to Moz?

Feel free to give me a -1 whiping but Im kinda desperate
I really need to "borrow" shell access from someone so I can ssh into a box (that I cant get to due to a weird IPSec bug) and reboot it
If you can let me have a shell and run ssh real quick, please oh please let me know
See journal post about how to contact me
But which currency do they use to flip for???

Thats a scary thought... what if he locks me out of my house and I am forced to bang on my door and scream for my wife?
Except it requires x509 certs and then freeswan reqs a patch, which doesnt work well in RPM installs
I am trying to do this with a PSK which does not work with the windows clients
Is he saying its okay for rich groups to buy laws then? Its bad for the one and only group that would say anything, to actually say something? I, like probably every other /. reader just wanna say thats BS.

What version of PGP for windows allows me to be an ipsec 'client' ??
Im really sick of ol SSH Sentinel, see my sig
I have version 7.0 of PGP Desktop running on Windows XP and have for a hell of a long time, and it works just fine.
And you can use NTFS for your encrypted file system if you want to be running windows.
Even then the movie is disturbed by him getting pulled out of the theatre, getting fined, or whatever

One step closer to being able to fly farther, cheaper, faster?
That is, other then getting drunk on jet fuel and then lighting my own farts.
For example, check out this: An article on ZDNez
