I heard on one of those geeky local talk radio show minutes (aka we dont sell enough comercials so lets do a filler from one of our shows) that they are re-making War of the Worlds
*I* hope they lay off the CGI
I personally think it would be really bad ass if they could figure out a way to trick audiences like the original HG Wells radio play did.
Ticket sales for the new "Star Wars" movie were out of this world, racking up
$183 million at box offices worldwide in the first four days of release.
According to studio estimates issued on Sunday, "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones," grossed an estimated $116.3 million across the United States and Canada.
Thank you Dickinson Northrock 14! They have two digital projectors and I was there for their first showings. I have never seen DLP before and I also have not seen the same movie on Film and DLP (I may go see Ep2 on film just to see if its different). Here are some things I noticed:
1: The most visable improvement that me and my failing eyesight (at 19 too, fuckin 85hz) could see was on the green screen that said that this preview had been aproved for all audiences. That was friggen pristine!
2: MAJOR FUCKING ANOYANCE: There were these three rectangles 'on the screen' that made that section of the screen just a tid bit darker. I am guessing that maybe some color calibration decals were left on lens on the glass between the projector and the auditorium.
3: I have bad eyesite and I was about the 6th or so row from the from and I could not pick out pixelation - and I looked hard. However, my friend up in the row infront of me said he could pick it out big time. If that is the case then UGH, WTF!
4: Like I said, I have not seen this on film yet so its hard to compare the quality but light sabers in the dark were friggen amazing.
Well, I saw Ep2 and this trailer was there. The theatre I was in was DLP so this trailer was as well. The big fat Green preview aproved for all audience screens was flawless -... however, that was about the only thing I noticed - and after talking to may people, the masses dont notice scratches
also, brand new projector and re-done sound system cut out in this trailer
I got the whole theater to laugh cause when it says 2003 I said "2k3? Thats when the sound will work" -- Yea, Im proud of myself
PS - Where is the official talk about SWEP2 thread? I saw the movie 4 hours ago and can't sleep right now so I wanna talk about this shit!
The tickets have "Wednesday, 12:01 am" printed on them- but thats suposed to be either wednesday 11:59 or Thursday 12:01 am - all wekk I was expecting to see it today. Grrrrrrr
Because they are children and if you dont understand this then you have serious maturity issues that need to be addressed and I suggest you use the time you have devoted to/. posting to rectifing this situation.
The reason why it was painful was because PETER PARKER IS A NERD AND THATS HOW NERDS TALK TO WOMEN! I felt uncomfortable in my seat because he is such a dork, and he talked like a dork. He just kind of opened up and let these feelings come out. He is not a poet, he is a science geek! Sure, there are those that fit this catagory and can talk to women but following his archeatypical character, he should sound just like he did!
I had never heard of this site. I have always relyed on IMDB to tell me everything about a movie. Ive always found it interesting that normally, after a DVD comes out - more goofs are added. Also, some movies you can clearly tell the goof information came straight from the director's mouth in the commentary track:P.
It seems strange that someone would just pull something out of fear of the DMCA. Worse case scenario is they say remove it after its realease, and you do. Luckily for US the geenie is out of the bottle by that time, but they conform so its all okay, right?
I mean - I hate the DMCA as much as the next guy (cause Jack Valenti isnt a guy so it cant be as much as him) but I have to be the skeptic and think maybe there was a different reason he pulled his code.
And if you believe whatever you hear in advertising, you've got a long, rough road of life ahead of you
The problem is when a company advertises something, they have to deliver - what you are not suposed to beleive is the hype
for example, go back to their 100x faster claim. It was already covered that is UP TO 100x faster. We all know on any given sunday its really only 10x faster - but they are saying sure, it could hit 100x - and my bitch is that it can NEVER hit 100x, not due to poor network but by design.
I purpose that everyone out there hack their modem. If everyone does it, and they can everyone, then they can have fun running a business with no one on it.
If we wanted to duke it out on a legal basis, assuming I had the money and the lawyers, considering I exist under no terms of service contract, they would have a hard time winning.
If I get my account can'd - fine - its not worth paying for as-is
Like I said, I understand this means if the planets are in alignment, etc. but I cant get that under ANY condition.
Example. The speed limit is 60mph so we really dont go over that - but I buy a car cause Im told top speed is 150mph, but Ill never drive it that fast. Id be pissed if my top speed was only 100 mph.
All I ask for is what they advertise Always on? MY ASS Fast? To who? Their own website at times w/ their own speed test on local servers sometimes tells me Im bellow 56k speeds!
Also, its my modem im "hacking." On top of that, I signed no agreement - dont tell me I did because I did not.
Some people, like you - maybe content with being stuck with crappy service - FUCK IT - Ill get the service I demand and most importantly, their advertising monkeys promised.
Last weekend I tried this guy's surfboard hack and I ran into one big problem
The Docsis files are md5 signed and if I dont sign them, then I am SOL. I followed the steps, spoofed the tftp, wathced the modem grab the config - but yet my upload was still no better then 256kbits/second
As for the whole legality - All I am going to do is make my cable modem "up to 100x faster then 56k modem" because right now I am @ 3mbit/s and 256k/s. A 56k modem has a limit of 33.6 kbit/s for upload SO 100x faster is 3360 kbit/s second... THATS A FUCKLOAD MORE THEN WHAT I HAVE. As for my download - well, 100x faster then 56k - well, we know its not REALLY 56 and I forget what it is but I never got better then 40kbit/s so lets go with that as the cealing - 100x faster is 4000 kbit/s. - I am CAPPED @ 3000/256 but yet if I were to hit their MAX of 100x faster I would have to be capped @ 4000/3360. I know 100x means if all the planets are alligned but its absolutely 100% impossible to get 100x more then a 56k. That is false advertising. I see no reason why I can not take my modem to what they advertise.
However, if your ignorant statement is a true reflection of your beleif then you can see why so many people hate New Yorkers and their fucking snobby attitude
Can you sleep at night in the dark and quiet and have a cool non-polluted breeze come through your open window that no one is going to break in through?
Can you drive 15 miles and be in the middle of no-where?
I live in a City of half a million. Sure, thats small but I can go to a festival this weekend w/o fear and enjoy and have a good time.
As for Gas-n-Go - well here its Quick Trips, the best convinience stores known to man-kind - I can go in there after midnight and not fear it will get robbed. I can shit on their toilet and not get some disease.
Oh, I can also get a tech job in Wichita - and $65,000 goes a long way here
Cost of living here is way low, and quality of living aint shabby at all
I have 100+ DivXs sitting here next to me I dont have a single DivX of a movie I would buy on DVD or havent seen on a theatre screen
Its been shown time and again that p2p etc. does not cut into sales
Weirdos
I guess I just dont understand - its like the free art museum that wont let you take pictures to show your friends half way across the world that will NEVER SEE THIS ART
First, let me say that I saw TPM @ 12:01 AM CST just on a whim. There were news stories about these dorks in costumes waiting DAYS and DAYS to get their tickets and get in. My friend and I got done with a meeting late and decided what the hell. We got there @ 11:30PM, bought two tickets, got some drinks and pop-corn -- no lines for either activity -- and grabbed two half decent seats and watched the movie.
Well, this time I pre-bought tickets but thats because Dickinson Northrock 14 here in Wichita has anounced it will have TI's DLP starting with Episode Two on opening night. I now have 3 tickets for me and friends for the 12:01 showing -- but in DLP. I am not a star wars fan (Ive never seen EP 6, although I have it in DivX) but I wanna check out this DLP shit -- I hear its gonna kick ass and at least my eyes will be brought to orgasm if the movie is not that pleasing.
Palm Pilot != a POCKET PC (not Pocket Pc (tm) which is a POCKET PC)
Palm == Datebook, Calender, Notes, and Tasks -- everything else is a plesent EXTRA
POCKET PC == A PC in your POCKET! If I wanted to have a PC with me everywhere, Id get a damn laptop. If I want a better datebook, which i did, I got my palm pilot.
The only way to restrict this to Dr.s, lawyers, etc. is to do extensive tracking and verification. A $300 price tag is not going to keep a good scam artist away. Im sure the local ambulance chaser can scrounge $300 bucks together if he wants to get a.pro, to sound "reputable," so he can scam people out of thousands? Back in the day when it was $50/yr for a domain, people did this. $300 does not limit fraud or make something proffesional. Example for IRL? Look @ the BBB and their buddy-buddy membership dues club with companies. Then again, if you start charging $1000, then no one will buy it, including doctors and lawyers. Hell, most Docs and Lawyers I work with these days would not even pay the $300 for a stupid web page (not much they can do over the web business wise).

Yea - we went through those same steps here
It kind of bugged me but I am still stoked
The funny thing is, Im not a star wars fan -- I just wanna see DLP!
Tnx for the link btw
