First of all there are particles hiting the earth with more energy than the LHC will produce, so if it can produce them it won't be the first one created on earth. Secondly even if it can produce a black hole (very cool by the way) it will evaporate in like 10^-20 seconds. Thridly a black hole does not change the gravity of the contained mass. So a black hole made out of a few quarks is going to have the gravitational pull of a few quarks. aka none.

Whats real funny about all this "its a fact we are ****ing the planet" crap, it they really do nothing about it. The planet is warming. DES was a civ cyper by desgin and was "broken" a long time ago due to weak keys and such a small key space. 3DES was quick fix and is still used and is still OK in some situations. But it is not military standard (I think AES is however).
As others above have stated, this is not "cracked" either and they are unable to change the data on the chip. Futhermore they need to read the inside page of the passport to "sniff" for the chip data. I would be happier however, with a contact card rather than contanctless....

I too did do a lot of climate modling and still do from time to time and aggree 100%.

Oh it does. If you have done a lot of programming in lots of different langs its hard to go back to non GC types. It really makes life easier. And no C++ does not have an excuse. You can use GC in STL and such as well.
Programming langs are tools! Not religions. Bad java is slower than proper C++. Poor C++ is hard to debug compared to well writen Java. Use the right tool for the job.
I live in the EU, and I'm telling you its about the money. Europe has had at lot of time to fine tune different ways to collect tax. Here in Austria I have to pay 20 EU per month if I have a TV. Now thay are thinking of extending that to anyone with internet. Just for more money.

So many Scientists have decided that its better to get political action and the public on there side with a little fudge and say "The evidence suggests that we casue Gloabal warming". After all it does suggest that we mite be the casuse. But we really don't know.
The next thing to consider is the rate of change. We are talking about 100's of years for the oceans to rise. Its a dam crappy movie with waves that wash NY away, not reality. Anyone ever heard of a dyke? We got plenty of time to make them. This we're doomed crap with a temprature rise of 2 or so degrees over a century is just plain stupid.
My last errk is "fixing things". Its a non-linear system. Screw with it and all you get is chaos. Maybee we need to adapt to the new climate instead.
