Unity is the way to go. Also if you can write java, picking up C# is fairly easy. Programming languages are tools. And unlike spoken languages, once you know one, learning others is far far easier. And a basic skill for any serious programmer.

Also a lot of really really badly written code. Like trying to load 1000 rows of a DB each click of a mouse. If someone uses something writen in C/C++ and its slow (there a lot of examples) no one blames the language. But if its java? Apparently java programmers are perfect. All of them, even the people learning to write their very first program.

These things are optimized. You put in a higher voltage cable and you reduce currents. May cost more per mile, but saves in the long run. Also the classic trade of between high capitol costs and cheaper running costs. Shorter cables could have much higher losses than 1.1% per 100km. And longer ones will typically be less since there is more to gain.

  13. Prices of even new CNC mills and lathes has recently (last 10 years) come down massively. 20-30k can get a decent small working volume machine new these days. Even the extras, like end mills are way cheaper now. It is already at the point where it can be cheaper to get your own for small volume rather than outsource it to machine shops. Assuming you have the in house expertise.

My problem is space. My last mill and lathe was in the inlaws garage which is now full of junk.

  15. Star trek is shit science fiction. I mean really shit. Did you even see the TV series or the other movies? It is sooo bad, you have to be an idiot to think it is good sci fi. It was bad back then and it is bad now. At least JJ wasn't as boring as watching paint dry. There was have decent space action.

  16. Do you have any idea how ridiculous it is to reverse the polarity of the shield resonate frequency. Or to require *manual* tracking for beaming people up? Or that for some reason today you just can't beam people anywhere cus well it would probably be a 4min show. Or time travel by flying around the sun to get a whale, because lets face it aliens can fly across the galaxy but lack the ability to work out they are boiling a planet or otherwise not be capable of detecting other forms of life.

Star Trek is ridiculous at every level. It is generally very sloppy in writing, very simplistic in story and downright a rehash of child's book when it comes to morality lessons. It is some of the most shit sci-fi on the planet. About the only close to equally simplistic and sloppy is Star wars and harry potter. Yea i said it. HARRY F'n Potter.
