praactically no other comapies have sold an os and made profit from it. well not in the last 10 years.
You can also run GNU with a Solaris kernel. Come to think of it, quite a lot of OpenSolaris seems to be GNU alternatives to Sun's proprietary userland tools. GNU/Solaris may well be the Open Source OS of the future. Have a glance at NexentaOS. It seem to be mixing the best of all worlds. I just hope it gets upstream acceptance sometime soon.

I agree that religion should be kept out schools but using free software puts the user in the best place at the end of the day...
I would also argue that using Free Software was a hell of a lot easier to do than keeping religious people happy.
Free Software doesn't place impositions on you like that you can't have sex before marriage.
I learnt latin for a year at secondary scool. It is the most logical but hard to remeber language there is. there are like 6 cases, three declensions. It is NOT easy. on the other hand I obviously learnt it well enough to be able to follow most of your post.
The inconvenience of running wine is greater than the inconvenience of running Pidgin instead of miranda.

Actually you can choose to disable Tor at the click of a button. But when I used it it was preferably because at least it gave the choice to which I preferred. But fair criticism, you are right it might not be the BEST thing, but my personal preference would be to be able to tunnel through most conent filtering etc. Anyway... cheers I didnt realise it had changed its name,..
the (slightly) annoying thing about Oasis is that they play open, first position chords in simply rythms, sing into the Mic total rubbish and yet it still sounds good. If you want a band to criticise how about The Music
get torpark instead of portable firefox.
Its has more functionality essentually and is better

I dont really like web based systems because I feel hemmed in and restricted. Aand I do. I dont like meebo. But compared to ALL the rest(if any good comparisions exist) its a damn site better.(no pun intended)

Pidgin on windows has a plugin which lets you do cool things with transparency.....(anyone know if you can get it fdor linux or what it is called?)
I can't seem to find the sssssame plugin on linux.
Additionally, Pidgin isnt in the ubuntu repositories....:(
On windows pidgin looks SLICK on linux... less so(or maybe just everything looks so amazing it just looks average.
Amsn is great if you need a.NET/MSN client. But someone should design some better skins for it in my opinion, still the default ones definitly aren't going to create problems with the memory. They are really dedicated to what they are doing and are very good. If you have to transfer someone who uses MSN to **ix or OSX this is what you should give them. You can even get an Amsn Plus plugin for those who want it.....
Miranda Rocks... but its Windows only bit is irritating... I know it may *be usable* under WINE but its not the same. Is it THAT hard to port it to linux?
while i wouldnt go as far as calling it FUD, i might call it drivel, the REALLY interesting qquestion sis: why has this guy been on windows 2000 and XP for so long when He's a linux admin?
But he does have a point generally about what happens to windows after 12 months etc... I'm now snug and kosy on kubuntu

you CAN use it with WINE if you miss it THAT much.... ...but I dont think it works perfectly...

Adium only works on OS X. ..but good on them for filling it...
